Mommy, Daddy Has Already Regretted It
Chapter 325: Estelle: "Hello, I lock-picked my way in.
Chapter 325: Chapter 325: Estelle: "Hello, I lock-picked my way in.
"Shall I look into it?" Nathaniel’s voice was slightly hoarse.
Estelle pondered for a moment before shaking her head. "No need. You probably won’t find anything anyway."
Nathaniel didn’t think for a second that Estelle would just give up. He raised an eyebrow. "So, what’s your plan?"
"The members of the Yeats family who came to Crestfall should have all arrived today, right?" Estelle offered a dangerously sweet smile. "So, I’ve decided to pay Claire’s parents a visit and ask them myself."
Nathaniel paused briefly before nodding, a gentle, spring-breeze smile gracing his lips. "Shall I go with you?"
Estelle shot him a look of disdain. "If you go, they definitely won’t dare tell the truth. I’ll go alone."
Nathaniel shook his head. "I wouldn’t feel at ease."
Estelle compromised. "Then just let Luke go with me."
Luke was speechless.
He was still a little worried. Third Uncle Yeats had already moved into the Yeats family’s old estate in Crestfall. How was the Madam supposed to storm a place like that all by herself?
However, Luke’s guess was wrong. Third Uncle and Aunt Yeats were not at the old estate; they were at Claire’s studio.
Claire was known as a "genius designer" with her own studio and brand. If Estelle were to evaluate Claire’s brand designs, she would sum it up in one word: ugly. Yet, on the internet—perhaps due to the massive halo effect of the Yeats family name, or perhaps because Claire had bought a ton of fake accounts—every time a new product launched, it was flooded with positive bot reviews.
The employee who poured oil on the stairs had already confessed everything through his tears. He laid everything bare, including Claire’s instructions to pour the oil, her bribery, and the transfer records of her payments to him.
Claire, on the other hand, couldn’t explain why she had told the employee to do such a thing. She could only insist that pushing Estelle was a genuine accident, arguing that in the end, Estelle was perfectly fine while she was the one who got hurt.
But the people Luke sent to handle the matter were evidently unyielding. They smiled and stated that they would not accept any settlement, requesting the police to investigate the matter thoroughly.
Evan was anxious. "Claire, I’ll go find our eldest brother. He’ll definitely help."
Claire’s expression shifted drastically. "N-no, there’s no need! He’s so busy; we can’t bother him with such a trivial matter."
Evan was bewildered. "But your situation is the most important right now. I can’t just watch you suffer this injustice. Don’t worry, our eldest brother can handle a small matter like this..."
"Evan!" Claire hurriedly cut him off, shaking her head with tears in her eyes. "A few days ago, he got mad at me because of Miss Lockwood. If he finds out now that Miss Lockwood was almost hurt, what would he think of me? Let’s not disturb him, okay?
"You know I’m not your biological sister. I’ve always been terrified that he wouldn’t dote on me like he used to..."
Evan knew that their father had already found their aunt’s daughter.
The daughter of his biological aunt was their true blood relative. Even though Claire shared the Yeats surname, her family’s blood ties to the main Yeats family were so diluted that they had practically vanished; they could barely even be considered distant relatives. It was only because the Yeats family was so massive that they were counted among the branch families.
The only reason Evan addressed Claire’s parents as "Third Uncle" and "Third Aunt" was purely out of respect for Claire. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been worthy of the titles at all.
Evan immediately felt his heart ache for her. "I know you’re worried about this. Yes, our aunt’s daughter has been found, and she is our sister, but so are you. He won’t stop loving you just because of this."
Claire could only shake her head desperately.
Left with no other choice and terrified that Claire might pass out from crying, Evan quickly promised, "Alright, I won’t tell him. I’ll try to figure something else out."
Tears and snot streamed down Claire’s face. "Evan, your biological sister is coming back. Will you still love me?"
Evan couldn’t bear to see her like this. "Claire, you’re the one I dote on the most. Don’t worry. Before the banquet begins, I will definitely bring you home."
The banquet...
Claire’s eyes glazed over for a second. What was the point of bringing her home before the banquet?! Estelle would be acknowledged as Miss Yeats at the banquet, and she would become a total laughingstock!
Meanwhile, Luke drove up to the front of a studio.
The studio doors were shut tight and padlocked. Luke stopped the car and hesitated for a second. "Madam, should I call for some backup?"
Estelle stepped out of the car. With perfect composure, she retrieved a hammer from the trunk and said flatly, "No need."
Luke stared in disbelief. Wasn’t this a bit too terrifying?!
Estelle looked up. Yes, this was Claire’s studio. She tilted her head and listened for a moment. Yes, there were people inside.
Perfect.
CLANG!
The padlock hit the ground.
Luke’s jaw dropped.
Estelle strolled inside, as leisurely as if she were taking a walk through her own backyard. Facing the utterly shell-shocked crowd inside the studio, she offered a perfectly polite greeting. "Hello."
Luke didn’t dare say a word.
Third Uncle and Aunt Yeats had been giving instructions to an assistant. The moment they saw Estelle, they barked fiercely, "How did you get in here?!"
Estelle was incredibly straightforward; the concept of tact was completely lost on her. "Hello. I broke the lock and let myself in."
Luke remained dead silent.
Third Uncle Yeats’s breath hitched, his face turning an awful shade of ugly. "Who the hell are you?! Do you know that trespassing on private property is a crime?!"
"Oh, so Third Mr. Yeats is familiar with the law?" Estelle feigned surprise, her tone dripping with blatant sarcasm. "Judging by your expression, Third Mr. Yeats, are you perhaps thinking of calling the police and sending me to the station?"
She clapped her hands cheerfully. "That’s wonderful! If I go to the police station, I can even keep Miss Yeats company."
Hearing Claire’s name, Third Uncle Yeats’s face darkened drastically. "You know Claire? Who are you?!"
Estelle smiled. "It seems you really don’t know who I am. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Estelle Lockwood, and I am also..."
At the sound of the name "Estelle Lockwood," the color drained from Third Uncle Yeats’s face at a visible rate.
Estelle seamlessly finished her sentence. "...Also the Miss Yeats who is about to return to the Yeats family."
Instantly, there was pin-drop silence in the studio.
Before Estelle’s return, Claire had been the most pampered daughter of the Yeats family, allowing Third Uncle Yeats and his family to ride her coattails to success. But now that Estelle was returning, there was only one person who could be called Miss Yeats—Estelle herself.
By boldly declaring her identity right in front of them, Estelle was, in Third Uncle Yeats’s eyes, putting them firmly in their place!
Third Uncle Yeats’s expression fluctuated. "What exactly do you want?!"
"Nothing much. I just wanted to ask a few questions," Estelle said leisurely.
"You drove Claire to such a state, and you still have the nerve to come here and ask us questions?! Do you think you’re worthy?!" Third Aunt Yeats suddenly charged forward, looking as though she wanted to eat Estelle alive. The assistant couldn’t even hold her back.
Estelle didn’t even spare her a glance, asking flatly, "You all know my identity now, and Claire knows it too. Since you know, you should also understand that once I return to the Yeats family, things definitely won’t end well for any of you."
