Chapter 326: Chapter 326: As Far as I Know, the Yeats Family Has No Such Person

"In that case, why did you all choose to make an enemy out of me?" Estelle asked. "For Claire’s status as ’Miss Yeats’? But you’re just a branch family. Even without me, Claire still wouldn’t be the legitimate Miss Yeats.

"Moreover, Third Mr. Yeats, I don’t think you’re as muddleheaded as your wife and daughter. Knowing how much Old Mr. Yeats, the Family Head, and the others care about me, you still let Claire run wild, even turning a blind eye to her vicious attempts on my life. Aren’t you afraid?"

Third Uncle Yeats and Third Aunt Yeats exchanged a glance. Before they could speak, Estelle continued, "So, why do all this? Do you have an ulterior motive?"

Third Uncle Yeats clenched his jaw. He was absolutely not going to say a word!

Luke White watched with a hint of concern. He wondered what Mrs. Sloan could possibly get out of them with this approach. But he soon realized his worries were entirely unnecessary. Estelle didn’t need them to answer at all.

"A gambler risks placing a bet because winning yields a thousandfold return. So, you’re gamblers," she said. "There’s someone behind you, pulling the strings. You were ordered to stop me from returning to the Yeats Family at all costs, and if you failed, you were to kill me directly.

"Not only does this person despise me, but they clearly don’t take your family seriously either. Let me guess, who has the power to order you around?"

Third Uncle Yeats remained silent.

Estelle stared at him. "Is it a competitor of the Yeats Family?" Then she turned to Third Aunt Yeats. "Or is it someone from the Yeats?"

Third Aunt Yeats clenched her teeth.

"Is it the wife of the Head of the Yeats?" Estelle pressed on. "Is it Old Mrs. Yeats? Is it Old Mr. Yeats? Or is it a branch of the Yeats Family?"

Third Uncle Yeats’s facial muscles relaxed from their breaking point. Seeing this, Estelle shook her head and drew her conclusion. "It seems it’s none of them. It’s an outsider, yet not an enemy of the Yeats Family."

Luke was utterly speechless.

"The things Claire did weren’t exactly discreet," Estelle continued. "Aside from that idiot, Evan, if I died, anyone else would instantly see that she was involved. Since the Yeats Family went through so much trouble to find me, how can you guarantee Claire would walk away unscathed if I died by her hands, Third Mr. Yeats?"

Estelle looked at them again, her gaze sweeping over their faces. "Is that person very powerful? Can they destroy the Yeats Family? Is that person equally important to the Yeats Family, no less important than me?"

Their expressions shifted slightly, and Estelle understood again. "It seems that person is indeed very important. In your eyes, they might even be more important than me."

She continued her barrage of questions. "Who exactly is this person? How old are they? Are they my age, or... Oh, they’re at least around my age.

"Is that person a man or a woman? Tall, short, fat, thin? Oh, it’s a woman."

Third Uncle Yeats was speechless.

So was Third Aunt Yeats.

Finally, Third Uncle Yeats couldn’t hold back anymore and roared, "Enough! Estelle Lockwood, you are not welcome here!"

"Alright," Estelle sighed with regret. "By the way, Third Uncle, I have one more regrettable thing to tell you.

"You’re doing that person’s bidding, betting everything you have. Have you ever considered whether she might abandon you? She refuses to expose her identity, so she naturally won’t show her face in public right now. But I’m about to become Miss Yeats. When that time comes, won’t crushing you be as easy as crushing an ant?

"If you’re worried, Third Uncle, you can always ask the person behind you to step forward and resolve this. But I bet... she won’t. She can’t risk exposure, so sacrificing your family is an easy choice.

"Oh, and don’t hold out any hope for luck, Third Uncle. I came looking for you with such fanfare and threatened you. I’m sure she already knows. Since she knows, it means she’s already halfway exposed in my line of sight. At a time like this, she won’t do a single thing that might catch my attention."

After saying all this, Estelle delivered her final verdict. "To sum it up, Third Uncle Yeats, you and Claire have lost your backer."

With that said, Estelle switched back to being impeccably polite. "Thank you all for your answers today. I hope everyone has a wonderful afternoon."

Third Uncle Yeats was completely dumbfounded. He thought, "Thank you? Thank you my ass!"

They hadn’t said a single word, yet Estelle had somehow managed to guess almost everything on their minds with terrifying accuracy!

But what horrified Third Uncle Yeats the most was Estelle’s claim. He thought in a panic, "Is the person behind us really unwilling to help anymore? How can that be?! What will happen to Claire then?"

Estelle left the studio and even hung the broken lock back on the door. "Find a locksmith," she instructed Luke. "Make sure it’s properly fixed."

"You’re quite..." Luke started, but found himself momentarily at a loss for words.

Estelle let out a soft chuckle and nodded. "That’s right, I also think I’m very polite and well-mannered."

Luke silently shut his mouth.

Since it was still early, Estelle went to the company first before heading home with Nathaniel Sloan. On the way back to Imperial Crest, she shared the information she had gathered today.

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow, his eyes filled with amusement. "Those two from the Yeats Family were actually willing to tell you all that?"

Estelle feigned surprise. "Of course. Why would you think otherwise? They’re super nice people."

They would spill everything with just a single glare.

Luke was baffled. He thought, "She is completely redefining the phrase ’super nice people.’"

Nathaniel naturally understood the interrogation method she had used. He let out a low, muffled laugh before asking, "So, what did Mrs. Sloan find out?"

Estelle narrowed her eyes. "There’s a woman, around my age, who is the backer behind Third Uncle Yeats. She’s also one of the reasons Claire acts so fearlessly.

"This person’s existence is very important to the Yeats Family. I caught a hint of disdain in Third Uncle Yeats’s eyes—a disdain directed at me. So, in their minds, compared to that mysterious backer, I am someone worthy of ’disdain.’

"They are absolutely certain that this person is more important to the Yeats Family. As long as she’s around, there’s no way I can ever return to the Yeats Family or earn their favor. Even if I wanted to punish Claire, that person would plead on her behalf, and both Old Mr. Yeats and the Head of the Yeats would listen to her."

Estelle’s gaze flickered. "Who exactly gave Third Uncle Yeats such confidence?"

Nathaniel narrowed his eyes, his pale gray irises exuding a heavy sense of danger. "As far as I know, there is no such person in the Yeats Family."

He realized there was a woman around Estelle’s age with such deep schemes and the confidence to sway the decisions of the Head of the Yeats. Yet, she had never shown her face in public. No one knew anything about her, nor could any information be found. It was almost as if she didn’t exist.

"Are you sure Claire and the others didn’t just make this person up?" Luke asked in confusion.

"No." This time, both Estelle and Nathaniel shook their heads in unison.

Claire could act recklessly relying on the doting of Evan, that idiot. Third Uncle Yeats might not necessarily have done the same, but he had tacitly approved of Claire’s actions.

Clearly, they did indeed have a backer.
