Chapter 468: Chapter 468: Damn, Estelle is a Big Deal

Old Mrs. Yeats certainly knew that.

What she wanted was precisely to slap Estelle Lockwood in the face!

The veins on Quentin Yeats’s forehead throbbed. He couldn’t understand why someone of Old Mrs. Yeats’s age would pick a fight with a junior, especially since Estelle didn’t seem like the type to deliberately offend her. Therefore, the most likely possibility was that Old Mrs. Yeats was simply stirring up trouble on her own.

"So, you’ve made up your mind to do this, Grandmother, even if it means embarrassing Grandfather in the process?"

Old Mrs. Yeats retorted unreasonably, "What makes you say I’m embarrassing the old man!"

Quentin was struggling to maintain his mild demeanor. "Because Estelle is the Yeats family’s eldest daughter, officially acknowledged by Grandfather. Her priority within the Yeats family is absolutely higher than Claire’s. You should understand this logic, Grandmother." ℯ

Throwing caution to the wind, Old Mrs. Yeats lashed out at her grandson. "Quentin Yeats, what is that supposed to mean? You’re defying your own elder for Estelle Lockwood?! Why can’t I throw a banquet for Claire? Claire won the championship of the XM Design Competition! What’s wrong with me celebrating for her?"

Quentin replied coldly, "Claire won that championship three years ago. You didn’t celebrate it then, and you didn’t celebrate it later. You just had to wait until Estelle’s birthday to do it."

"So what!" Old Mrs. Yeats said self-righteously, her contempt palpable. "I’ll be blunt. The guests who go to Estelle’s tonight cannot come to the Yeats family’s banquet.

"Quentin, you and the old man have truly been bewitched by that bitch! Just wait until tonight. You’ll see who is actually more important—Claire or Estelle!

"Sometimes, a person’s importance isn’t proven by words, but by the choices others make!

"If people are willing to associate with Claire, then Claire is the true face of the Yeats family. As for Estelle? Just you wait and see!"

Claire’s eyes shifted slightly as she lowered her gaze to hide her smile.

She thought to herself that this was exactly right. Importance was determined by the choices of others. Tonight, Estelle’s birthday banquet was destined to be completely deserted, while everyone would be at Seaview Tower congratulating her instead.

Estelle had been kicked out of Seaview Tower. After all, banquet venues had to be booked well in advance. Otherwise, who would just happen to have an empty hall available? Even if there was an available venue, it would undoubtedly be some small, rundown restaurant.

When the time came, Claire would be in the renowned Seaview Tower, while Estelle would be stuck in some nameless little diner. Wouldn’t Estelle feel humiliated?

Today, Estelle was bound to lose! Claire was determined to make a fool out of her on her very birthday!

The news that the two misses of the Yeats family were holding banquets at the same time in different locations spread quickly.

Typically, it was impossible for members of the same family to host two competing banquets simultaneously. Coupled with the past grievances between Claire and Estelle, and the rumor that Claire’s banquet was being personally hosted by Old Mrs. Yeats, the public quickly caught on.

Old Mrs. Yeats was forcing everyone to choose between Claire and Estelle. Those who attended Claire’s celebration could not go to Estelle’s birthday banquet, and vice versa.

How were they supposed to choose? Everyone had their own calculations. The best outcome would be to offend neither side, but if they absolutely had to offend one...

Well.

Many people had already received invitations from Mrs. Kendrick, inviting them to Seaview Tower for Estelle’s birthday banquet. But now, the star of the banquet at Seaview Tower had been swapped to Claire, while Estelle had gone to some unknown restaurant. Word hadn’t even gotten out about where her banquet was being held.

"Chairman, are we going to Miss Lockwood’s event?"

A corporate chairman shook his head. "Has there been any word on whether Mr. Sloan will attend the birthday banquet?"

The secretary shook his head but added, "Although there’s no news, Mr. Sloan surely wouldn’t miss Mrs. Sloan’s birthday banquet."

The public still didn’t know that the former boss of Radiance was Nathaniel Sloan, nor did they know that Radiance was a gift from Nathaniel to Estelle.

Considering there hadn’t been a single update from Mr. Sloan all day, they figured he didn’t care about Estelle that much. If he truly did, why would he be so quiet? Word also had it that Old Mr. Yeats and the Family Head were not in Crestfall. Quentin had supposedly spoken with Old Mrs. Yeats, but whatever was said, he hadn’t managed to stop her.

Thinking along these lines, everyone felt the Yeats family’s stance was obvious.

The chairman pondered for a long moment. "We’re going to Claire Yeats’s celebration banquet.

"Even if it’s hard to explain afterward, we can just say that Miss Lockwood’s banquet hall was too small to fit so many people."

The secretary thought it over and agreed. She had been kicked out of Seaview Tower, so how big could a last-minute banquet hall possibly be? She really had no shame.

Conversations like this were happening among many of the elites.

When Henry Kendrick heard about the situation, he let out a cold sneer. "She really thinks she’s somebody important. It’s just..."

He was still a bit worried. Would Estelle feel wronged by all this?

After all, Old Mrs. Yeats held the title of "Wife of the Former Yeats Family Head." Although the old hag was incredibly obnoxious, that title was still very effective when necessary. If she was going all out to support Claire, what would everyone else think? Would they attend for Nathaniel’s sake?

But if they did it for Nathaniel’s sake, even though a husband and wife were considered one, it would only sound like Estelle was riding on his coattails. The Yeats family would still have a reason to attack her.

The most important thing was...

Today was Estelle’s birthday. Everyone wanted her to have a happy day, yet the Yeats family had deliberately chosen this moment to pick a fight.

Estelle curled her lips into a smile, not minding it in the least. "It’s fine if there are no guests. We can just celebrate my birthday with our own people."

Henry curled his lip. "Claire is obviously trying to one-up you. And..." He hesitated. "When did Claire become the champion of the XM Design Competition?"

Estelle offered a slow, enigmatic smile, her tone teasing. "Yes, I’m curious about that too... when did Claire become the champion of that design competition?

"It seems this Miss Yeats isn’t just vain, but also a skilled liar. Has no one questioned this?"

Estelle raised an eyebrow slightly. "Then perhaps I should question it myself in a little while."

Henry thought it over, his eyes lighting up. "That’s right! The next competition is about to start. As the ’champion’ of the previous one, it wouldn’t make sense for Claire not to participate this time around."

However, despite thinking this, he was still frustrated. He felt that booking a banquet hall at the last minute was worse than just going home. "Estelle, how about..."

"The banquet hall has already been booked," Estelle said with a smile.

Henry paused for a moment before asking, "Which one?"

Estelle cast a meaningful look toward Seaview Tower in the distance. Just as Henry thought the management at Seaview Tower had finally come to their senses, she suddenly shifted her gaze.

Henry followed her line of sight.

Estelle chuckled softly. "It’s naturally Crestfall’s most prestigious venue... the Tidal Pavilion."

She spoke those last three words very lightly, but Henry heard them loud and clear. He stared blankly for a long moment before his eyes widened. "The Tidal Pavilion?"

He thought, "Damn, Estelle has some serious pull."
