Mommy, Daddy Has Already Regretted It
Chapter 64: Daddy, Kick Noelle Lockwood Out
Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Daddy, Kick Noelle Lockwood Out
"Christian, Noelle poured her heart into this. How could it taste bad?" Laura Jennings said instinctively.
"If you like it so much, Grandma, you drink it," Zachery pouted. "Grandma, I advise you to stop talking. If you say one more word, I might just ask Daddy to do a paternity test with you to see if you’re his biological mother or Noelle Lockwood’s.
"Earlier, you forced me to apologize, and now you’re trying to force me to say this tastes good?"
Laura shut her mouth awkwardly. "I didn’t mean it like that, Christian, but it’s the thought that counts..."
Zachery couldn’t be bothered to listen. He looked at Noelle. "What are you staring blankly for? How can you have the nerve to serve me something so disgusting? Go make it again."
Noelle gnashed her teeth in silent fury.
She wondered what had gotten into this little brat today. In the past, he would eat whatever she gave him. Now, he suddenly knew how to be picky!
Putting on a wronged expression, she looked at Nathaniel Sloan with tear-filled eyes. "Nathaniel..."
Nathaniel didn’t even spare her a glance. "Since Christian doesn’t like it, go make it again."
No matter how unwilling Noelle was, she had no choice but to return to the kitchen.
Standing off to the side, Estelle Lockwood watched the drama unfold with great amusement.
About ten minutes later, Noelle brought out a second bowl of soup. "Christian, try it again..."
"Yuck! It’s terrible. Are you trying to give me a cavity with all this sugar?"
Then came the third bowl.
"It’s too hot! And why didn’t you add any sugar?"
The fourth bowl.
"I can’t taste the snow pear at all! Disgusting!"
The fifth bowl.
"Aunt Noelle, why don’t you try it yourself? Are you doing a half-hearted job on purpose just because I’m a kid?"
Noelle was practically losing her mind with anger.
To stay at Imperial Crest and leave a good impression on Nathaniel, she had gone out of her way to make five bowls of snow pear soup for this little bastard, yet he still wasn’t satisfied!
Unable to watch any longer, Laura said, "Nathaniel..."
"It’s alright, Mrs. Sloan. It’s my fault. I’ll just go make it again."
With tears in her eyes, Noelle shook her head helplessly, subtly conveying a message to everyone: it wasn’t that her soup tasted bad, but rather Christian was deliberately making things difficult for her.
Seeing her like this made Laura’s heart ache even more. "Nathaniel, you can’t just let Christian act like this. Noelle is his mother! You were exactly like this when you were young, and you grew distant from me when you grew up. I can’t let history repeat itself..."
A trace of impatience flashed across Nathaniel’s forehead. "Mom!"
Zachery curled his lips. What on earth was she talking about? Was he really similar to his scumbag father when he was young?
No, no, no, he was just pretending. He didn’t want to be like his scumbag father at all. If he were too much like him, he would grow up to be a scumbag himself!
At that moment, Noelle emerged from the kitchen once again. She sighed as she looked at Laura. "It’s fine. As long as Christian is happy, I’m willing to remake it as many times as it takes."
Noelle had it all figured out. As long as Christian continued to be unreasonable, she would win everyone’s sympathy. By then, staying at Imperial Crest wouldn’t be difficult.
However, Zachery took a sip and beamed. "Wow, this one is delicious!"
He nodded, looking surprised. "So Aunt Noelle actually knows how to make soup! What were you doing the previous times, then?"
Noelle’s plan was instantly thrown into disarray. She choked on her words for a moment but quickly replaced her shock with a gentle smile. "As long as you like it, Christian."
Laura wanted to claim credit on Noelle’s behalf. "Nathaniel, look how happy Christian is. Listen to me, you need to let his biological mother stay by his side. Christian’s fondness for Yara is only temporary. Given time, he’ll realize that the only person in the world who truly has his best interests at heart is his own mother..."
"Ms. Yara, here, drink this! I’ve already tasted it. It’s really good this time!"
A clear, bright voice interrupted Laura.
Laura and Noelle’s eyes widened in shock as they turned their heads.
They saw "Christian" presenting the snow pear soup to Yara, eager to please. "Ms. Yara, I heard you love snow pear soup, right? Hurry up and drink it! This is Aunt Noelle’s labor of love, so it can’t go to waste!"
Estelle was speechless.
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow.
Laura stared in disbelief. "Wait, Christian, you’re giving the snow pear soup to Yara?!"
Zachery nodded. "Yeah, is there a problem?"
There was a huge problem!
Laura’s blood boiled instantly. A look of disdain spread across her face, and she fell just short of pointing a finger at Yara and cursing her out. "This is a soup Noelle prepared specifically for you! What is the meaning of giving it to someone else? I knew this Yara harbored ill intentions!"
Noelle shed a few tears. "Please don’t be angry, Mrs. Sloan. It’s okay. Dr. Yara has been taking care of Christian lately, so it’s only natural that he likes her."
Indignant, Laura snapped, "No, I absolutely cannot stand for this! If Christian is already defending her like this right in front of us, disrespecting you, what will happen in the future? It seems a certain homewrecker is getting impatient to take your place!"
Zachery’s gaze darkened. "Grandma, I don’t understand what you’re saying. Noelle Lockwood gave the soup to me. Why can’t I give it to someone else?"
Laura put her hands on her hips. "That was Noelle’s labor of love! Tell me, Nathaniel, isn’t Christian crossing the line? I must get justice for Noelle today!"
"A labor of love?" Zachery let out a cold laugh. "But I don’t even like snow pear soup. What kind of love is that?"
Laura was convinced he was talking nonsense. "How is that possible? To think you’ve even learned to lie just to protect Yara. You desperately need to be taught a lesson..."
"From the very beginning, Noelle Lockwood was the one who claimed I liked snow pear soup, so you just assumed I must like it. But Grandpa Chapman, Grandma Riddle, you’ve been taking care of me at Imperial Crest for so long. Did you know I liked snow pear soup?"
Chapman and Ms. Riddle exchanged a glance and shook their heads.
Chapman stepped forward. "The young master has never asked for snow pear soup. He usually prefers lotus seed dessert."
Ms. Riddle nodded in agreement. "That’s right... The last time I made a pot of snow pear stew, the young master didn’t touch a single bite. It seems he truly doesn’t like it."
Noelle’s expression had already changed.
Zachery looked back at Nathaniel. "Daddy, I’m the only young master in this house, right? Whatever I want to eat or drink, everyone will prepare it for me."
Nathaniel patted his head. "Yes."
Zachery reasoned, "So, if I actually liked snow pear soup, there’s no way the butler, the chef, the maids, and the nannies wouldn’t know about it."
He was absolutely right. Let alone Chapman, even Ms. Riddle and the other servants earned salaries of over a hundred thousand a month. Taking good care of their young master and figuring out his preferences was precisely what they were paid to do.
Yet, the young master had never once mentioned liking snow pear soup.
"Since no one here knows, why did Grandma believe Aunt Noelle so easily the moment she said it? Even I didn’t know when I supposedly started loving snow pear soup."
Zachery spoke bluntly. "Aunt Noelle, you claim you do your utmost to take care of me, yet you don’t even know my preferences. I don’t like snow pear soup, but you still complain to Grandma and get her to scold me for lying.
"What ’doing your utmost’? You were just putting on a show for everyone else! Daddy, I don’t like her. Tell her to get lost!"
Nathaniel looked at Noelle with a cold expression.
