After dinner, as usual, Daxton Lancaster leaned back on the sofa, Violet Zimmerman rested her head on his legs, holding the rabbit that Joseph Lancaster had brought over.

On the coffee table in front, Joseph Lancaster’s palm-sized tape recorder was playing beautiful music.

Violet Zimmerman closed her eyes, seemingly asleep. Daxton Lancaster reclined on the sofa, his misty gaze forward, his large hands gently caressing her abdomen inside her woolen sweater.

It’s almost four months now, perhaps due to good nutrition, Violet Zimmerman showed more than other women at the same stage of pregnancy, her belly seemed to have a pillow placed horizontally on top.

Hearing Violet Zimmerman’s even breathing, Daxton Lancaster withdrew his gaze, lowered his eyes to look at the woman sleeping on his lap. Just as he was about to get up and carry her back to the room, Joseph Lancaster walked in swiftly from the door.

"Big brother, sister-in-law!" As the words left his mouth, Joseph Lancaster promptly covered his lips, walked over softly, and asked in a whisper.

"Is sister-in-law asleep?"

"Yeah." Daxton Lancaster responded faintly, not reacting much.

Joseph Lancaster came over and said regretfully, "I was thinking we’d go outside and set off fireworks together."

Daxton Lancaster gave a fleeting glance at the fireworks in Joseph Lancaster’s hand, saying nothing.

Joseph Lancaster placed the fireworks on the coffee table and, in passing, turned down the volume of the tape recorder, a natural action, yet showed concern.

Daxton Lancaster’s gaze tightened slightly because of this gesture by his younger brother, Joseph Lancaster.

Joseph Lancaster then placed the tape recorder back down, and as he turned to sit in the sofa, he noticed Daxton Lancaster’s hand continuously covering Violet Zimmerman’s belly, and his eyes suddenly brightened.

"Big brother, can I touch it?"

Daxton Lancaster’s gaze tightened again, but the youngster with full attention on Violet Zimmerman’s belly didn’t notice, staring at Violet Zimmerman’s abdomen, Joseph Lancaster’s eyes revealed obvious delight.

Daxton Lancaster slowly withdrew his hand, "Go ahead, just don’t wake your sister-in-law."

"Don’t worry, big brother, I’ll be gentle,"

Joseph Lancaster promised softly, the young man in student attire crouched down before Violet Zimmerman, his long fingers tightened, then slowly slipped under Violet Zimmerman’s woolen sweater.

Daxton Lancaster’s phoenix eyes abruptly widened and then slowly narrowed; he thought he would touch through the woolen sweater—after all, he, the eldest brother, was present.

"This is amazing,"

Joseph Lancaster’s palm pressed against Violet Zimmerman’s belly, his lips gently curved, brows and eyes unconsciously tender. In Daxton Lancaster’s dim gaze, Joseph Lancaster turned his head to rest his face against it, the young man closed his eyes, lips slightly upturned.

Under his palm was his child, how miraculous, he was actually going to be a father. It seems he couldn’t spend money carelessly from now on, he had to save up to buy new clothes and toys for the child.

Watching Joseph Lancaster’s happy appearance, Daxton Lancaster’s gaze gradually became blurry.

It seemed his younger brother had truly fallen for his own wife, so before the situation escalated to a point beyond control, he needed to curb this emotion that shouldn’t have happened.

Daxton Lancaster decided, after graduating college next year, to arrange a marriage for his brother. The reason his brother was infatuated with his wife was just because it was his first encounter with a woman.

But what truly solidified Daxton Lancaster’s decision was the night before the New Year’s Eve, when the family gathered together for New Year’s dinner, and Joseph Lancaster pulled him and his sister outside to watch fireworks.

During the New Year, ordinary families only bought a string of firecrackers to celebrate, but the Lancaster Family differed; being a wealthy family who ate fine grain daily, naturally, they wouldn’t lack the money to buy firecrackers.

Daxton Lancaster and Violet Zimmerman stood far away, watched as the house servants set up fireworks, and only started igniting after greeting.

On the twelfth month in City T, snowflakes began to fall scatteringly in the sky, clumps of fireworks shot into the sky, exploding with a crackle, transforming into colorful stars falling down.

The three siblings and Violet Zimmerman all tilted their heads, watching the stars slowly descend. Violet Zimmerman was especially thrilled, grabbing Daxton Lancaster’s arm in excitement.

"Daxton, how beautiful!"

"Yeah." Amidst the fireworks, Daxton Lancaster turned his head, in the sight of Violet Zimmerman, his lips slightly upturned.

"Sister-in-law, look at that! Isn’t it beautiful!" Aurora Lancaster covered one ear with her hand and pointed to the sky, as girls couldn’t resist fireworks.

Suddenly with a bang, when a firework ejected its last fireball, it blasted open the bottom of the cardboard base below with a loud noise, quite unexpectedly; Violet Zimmerman was startled, instinctively seeking shelter in Daxton Lancaster’s arms.
