Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride

Chapter 1589 - 1579: Wherever My Gaze Lands, There Lies Eternity: Beaten

Joseph Lancaster got hit, it was Eva Hayes who hit him.

Riding his bike for miles to get grass carp for his sister-in-law, only to have it intercepted by Eva Hayes, which he naturally didn’t allow.

Seeing Eva attempt to serve the grass carp and tofu soup to her daughter-in-law, Joseph grabbed it immediately.

The delicious dish was snatched away by his nephew, and Eva threw a fit, raising her arms and striking Joseph full in the face.

No matter how reckless Joseph was, he wouldn’t fight back. When the old master heard the shouting and swearing and came out, he only saw grass carp with tofu spilled all over the floor...

"What on earth happened?"

Daxton Lancaster sat side by side with the family head. Despite Eva being the elder, she now faced the Lancaster Family head and the master.

Standing below with his nephew Joseph, both of them turned their faces away, unwilling to glance at each other.

Joseph’s face had bruises. He could only defend himself, not strike back, so naturally, he suffered.

Eva was notoriously fierce, showing no mercy when she attacked.

Hearing Joseph’s question, Eva loudly shouted in dissatisfaction, "What’s going on? It’s because this dear brother of yours is so unreasonable! He said the fish soup is for Violet. Does your wife really need nourishment for no reason?

Look at our Victoria! She’s still lying in bed!

Daxton, even though you’re the family head of the Lancasters, you can’t be so blatantly biased. Just because your wife’s the main room, does that make the second room like a stepmother’s child!

Dad, you be the judge. They’re both daughters-in-law of the Lancaster Family, why should the fish be for Violet Zimmerman and not for our Victoria!"

Violet Zimmerman cast her eyes down, absentmindedly playing with her fingers. This gentle-natured woman innocently took the hit, feeling very uncomfortable inside.

Daxton looked stern, and so did the family head. Everyone in the room shared the same expressionless face.

Violence over a pot of fish soup, it was the first time in decades.

"I bought that fish, with my own money. I can give it to whomever I want! If you want to nourish your daughter-in-law, why don’t you go buy some outside yourself!"

Joseph retorted defiantly, and Eva glared, rolling up her sleeves again.

"You brat, it looks like the lesson just now wasn’t enough. Today, I’ll teach you a proper lesson. You won’t learn if I don’t show you some color!"

As she spoke, Eva was about to strike Joseph again, almost simultaneously, the grandfather and grandson on the main seat spoke up.

"Enough!"

The grandfather and grandson spoke in unison, their expressions equally severe.

"Second Mother, do you also want to try the Lancaster family laws?"

Daxton spoke leisurely, with a hint of coldness at the corner of his lips.

"Hmph! Family law?" Eva turned back to Daxton with a sneer, her face full of sarcasm, speaking righteously.

"Don’t forget, our second room has established its own household now, so we are not subject to the family rules of the Lancasters."

Joseph’s expression was resentful. If it were the Lancaster cousins standing in front of him, he could brawl with them to vent his anger.

But the shrew beside him was his elder, no matter how infuriating, he wouldn’t raise a hand against an elder.

Getting hit was one thing, but the fish he traveled a thousand miles to buy for his sister-in-law was spilled by this shrew, leaving Joseph’s face full of unwillingness.

Atlas Lancaster and his three sons sat on one side, the expressions on their faces identical, though they appeared indifferent, they couldn’t hide their schadenfreude.

After all, it wasn’t them who suffered the loss.
