Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1690 - 1664: Wherever My Eyes Fall, Eternity Awaits: I Made the First Move
Compared to Violet Zimmerman’s anxious demeanor, Daxton Lancaster appeared calm, with one arm across his chest and the other holding a cigarette. After taking a puff, he slowly exhaled the smoke and asked nonchalantly.
"What if the second wife finds out? Will you say that I was the one who instigated it?"
Violet Zimmerman was taken aback for a moment, then immediately shook her head.
"No, Daxton, we’re husband and wife. I won’t push you out. Worst-case scenario, I’ll just say I seduced Joseph, after all, he’s still young and not as old as I am."
Violet Zimmerman’s attitude was resolute. Daxton Lancaster narrowed his phoenix eyes slightly as he looked at her, slowly exhaling smoke, then suddenly leaned over to press the newly lit cigarette into the ashtray, saying calmly.
"Don’t worry, she wouldn’t dare." The long-serving servants in the household were well aware of his style of conducting affairs; if he were led by the nose in everything, he wouldn’t be the Family Head.
"But..." Despite Daxton Lancaster’s words, Violet Zimmerman was still deeply worried, blaming herself for being too careless and overlooking the existence of another person.
Daxton Lancaster came over to flip the covers on the bed, "No buts, get some sleep. It’s my fault for not thinking the plan through thoroughly enough. Next time, have Joseph come over here."
...
This morning, Blair Williams woke up very early. Among the servants at Joseph Lancaster’s place, she was the only one. When Joseph wasn’t at home during the day, she was the mistress of this house.
Watching the rice porridge simmering in the small pot, Blair intermittently tiptoed to look down the road towards the front door to see if Daxton Lancaster was coming over.
Finally, after peeking out through the window several times, she spotted Daxton Lancaster’s figure, hurriedly dropped the spoon in her hand, and enthusiastically went out to greet him.
"Family Head, you’re here so early!" Blair Williams pushed the door open, smiling with delight at the man walking into the yard.
"Mm, it’s better to handle things sooner rather than later." Daxton Lancaster said lightly, his lips curling into a hint of coldness.
"Yes, yes." Blair Williams agreed sycophantically, opening the door wider, "Family Head, it’s cold outside, please come in."
Daxton Lancaster walked past her into the hall, "Where’s Joseph, not up yet?"
Blair Williams closed the door behind her, smiling as she said, "Second Young Master isn’t up yet, I’ll go call him now."
Just as Blair was about to call him, Joseph Lancaster’s figure appeared at the top of the stairs,
"No need, I’m already up."
Joseph Lancaster typically woke up half an hour later than this. As a man, he didn’t need to dress up deliberately; he’d go to the Old Master for breakfast and then head to the company.
But this morning it seemed as if the two brothers had coordinated in advance. Just as Daxton Lancaster walked in, Joseph Lancaster was neatly dressed at the top of the stairs.
"Haha, Second Young Master, you’re up, and so early today." Blair Williams said with a flattering smile, looking up at the man she had served since he was in middle school, feeling very unsettled inside.
The Family Head came to deliver a reward personally, but unfortunately, the Second Young Master got up early today. If the Family Head gives her the reward in front of him later, how should she explain it if he asks?
"Mm, handling important matters, better sooner than later." Joseph Lancaster echoed, the two brothers saying the same thing.
Daxton Lancaster had already seated himself on the single-seat sofa, despite being at his brother’s residence, showing the demeanor of an owner.
After coming down the stairs, Joseph Lancaster also settled into another sofa, and the two brothers exchanged a knowing glance. Daxton Lancaster was the first to speak coldly.
"Last night, Sister Wang from your room came to see me. She said Violet comes over every night to bring you supper and goes directly into your room, closing the door, and stays for over half an hour."
Standing in the center of the living room, Blair Williams secretly glanced at Joseph Lancaster, her heart in her throat.
