Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure

Chapter 1119 - 1128: A Happy World for Two

  • Next Chapter

After finding out Anna was a little foodie, he rolled up his sleeves and learned how to cook.

He kept at it for years, making one or two dishes at night from time to time, afraid that if he really cooked for Anna Morgan someday, his skills would have gotten rusty and he’d disappoint her.

Luckily, the food he made suited Anna Morgan’s taste perfectly.

"Hubby, you’re amazing."

Unable to wait, Anna Morgan picked up the bowl of soup Carter Lockwood had ladled for her and started drinking. The taste was so good it made her glow with delight.

"I finally know why I love you so much."

"Before I lost my memory, the two of us must’ve been head-over-heels in love," Anna Morgan couldn’t help adding extra drama for herself and Carter.

Carter watched her drink with soup at the corners of her mouth, pressed his lips into a smile. "Careful, it’s hot."

"Right? Isn’t that true?" Seeing Carter didn’t answer, Anna Morgan asked again.

"Yeah." Carter let the smile fade from his eyes as he replied.

There was never some great mutual love; it had always been him secretly in love with her.

"Go on out. Wait till the dishes are ready to eat."

Carter went on to cook the rest of the dishes and sent Anna Morgan out of the kitchen.

Anna Morgan walked out, carrying her soup bowl, smiling from ear to ear.

She sat in the dining room and looked up to see Carter’s busy figure.

The things Carter made were seriously delicious!

Anna Morgan ate while she kept praising Carter, and at the same time snapped photos to send to Finn Chandler and Serena Sullivan.

Yeah, Julian Ford and Ethan Grant, those two guys don’t cook; even if they did, what they made wouldn’t taste as good as Carter’s.

Carter finished quickly. Dish after dish was set in front of Anna Morgan, and she snapped one photo after another, making Finn Chandler and Serena Sullivan in the group chat so hungry they couldn’t take it.

"So good!"

Anna Morgan put down her phone, eating while she praised.

Carter gave a light, faint smile. Seeing how happy Anna was eating, he felt content.

In the middle of the meal, his gaze fell on Anna’s fingers.

Noticing him looking at her hand, Anna Morgan glanced down and immediately started explaining, "Hubby, there’s something I want to talk to you about."

Anna Morgan looked at Carter, a little worried.

"What is it?"

"Can we keep our marriage a secret for now?"

Carter froze for a second, looking at the suddenly nervous Anna Morgan.

After they got their marriage certificate, Carter had thought for a long time about whether they should go public.

He’d considered that Anna was in a state of having forgotten him; if he made a big show of it and she found out later, she’d be mad.

"It’s not that I’m afraid to take you out," Anna Morgan hurried to explain when she saw Carter staying quiet.

She cared a lot about what he thought.

"I’m not mad," Carter replied in a mild voice. He pressed his lips together, trying to make himself look like he was smiling.

As the person in charge of The Lockwood Family, he never needed to learn how to smile.

In his style of doing things, he relied entirely on strength; he didn’t need to please anyone.

But with Anna Morgan, he became cautious, and every time he was with her, he tried his best to make that paralyzed iceberg of a face look gentle.

"I think you’re right."

"It’s better for you to keep a low profile in that circle."

Carter was agreeing to Anna Morgan’s idea of a hidden marriage.

Seeing him agree, Anna didn’t feel particularly happy; instead, she felt a bit uncomfortable.

Had he really never thought about going public with her?

"Eat." Carter picked up some food and put it in Anna’s bowl. He’d wait until the time was right to make their relationship public; it mainly depended on Anna.

He’d waited for her for so many years; he could wait until she completely fell in love with him, that was all.

"Okay." Anna Morgan looked at the piece of beautifully glazed braised pork Carter had put in her bowl and couldn’t help taking a bite. She had to admit, Carter’s cooking was even better than the head chef’s at The Morgan Family.

Anna Morgan ate happily; Carter was even happier watching her.
