Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure

Chapter 1120 - 1129: Dinner Gathering

  • Next Chapter

In the evening, Anna Morgan took her pajamas into the bathroom for a bath.

Carter Lockwood was in the room dealing with work matters. He was a very disciplined man, and after cooking dinner and tidying up the kitchen, he went upstairs to work.

Listening to the sound of the bath water coming from the bathroom, Carter finally broke away from his thoughts about the documents.

Another exhausting yet beautiful night.

After thinking for a while, he immersed himself back into work, but his phone rang, and while staring at the computer documents, he reached for it.

"Anna."

Before Carter could speak, a woman’s voice came over the phone.

She was calling for Anna.

Carter realized Anna Morgan took his phone a few days ago and deliberately changed his ringtone to the same as hers, saying it was what couples do.

When the call came in, he forgot to check who was calling.

"Can you skip the dinner party Director Lowell mentioned tomorrow?"

The woman continued, "There’s really no way around it; your father says it’s none of your business, and your brother has drunk too much."

Without alternatives, Sister Fang wouldn’t have called Anna Morgan.

The Morgan Family was really different from before.

Mr. Monroe said he wasn’t going to manage Anna Morgan’s affairs, and truly wasn’t.

Meanwhile, Eldest Master Monroe drank himself into a drunken stupor for a woman, what will Anna do in the future!

"Anna!"

Sister Fang called again.

Carter moved the phone away and saw "Invincible Beauty Fang" displayed on the screen, realizing this was Anna’s manager.

"What dinner party?" he asked.

"Hmm?"

Sister Fang was stunned, thinking she dialed the wrong number. She checked the contact name repeatedly to ensure she hadn’t made a mistake.

"Who are you? Anna’s husband."

Sister Fang quickly remembered Anna mentioned her marriage.

"Yes!"

Carter said, "I am her husband."

"Oh oh."

"Can you let Anna answer the phone?"

Sister Fang recognized the voice and didn’t dare associate it with an implausible man; she suspected Anna’s husband was merely a pretty face.

Influenced by Mr. Monroe, Anna’s standing in the circle wasn’t what it used to be, let alone in high society.

Anna suddenly announced her marriage, likely abandoning herself and settling for any man.

"She’s in the shower." Carter briefly said, "You talk."

His tone was light, making Sister Fang subconsciously follow his instructions and convey the director’s need for Anna to attend a dinner.

"Alright!"

"Time and location." Carter asked again.

"I’ll convey it to her."

Listening to Carter handling Anna’s affairs so readily, Sister Fang thought he was either unaware of industry norms or he truly was being kept!

Anna’s future days are really too bleak.

Anna finished her bath and came out to see Carter fiddling with the computer. She quietly sneaked over and covered his eyes.

"Guess who I am?"

A boring game, but Anna loved playing it.

Carter didn’t find it boring and just enjoyed playing along with her.

"Sister Fang just called your phone."

Once the game ended, Carter looked at Anna sitting in his arms, speaking in a calm voice.

He tried to slow his pace while mentioning Sister Fang’s call to divert his own attention.

"Hmm?" Anna responded, indeed coming out of Carter’s embrace.

Carter liked her clinging to him but was also afraid of it, a contradictory feeling that always put him in a state of turmoil.

"There’s a dinner tomorrow; she wants to take you."

"It’s the new film director inviting you, probably to introduce you to investors."

As Carter spoke, his eyes became colder.
