Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 1198 - 1099: Stay Out of My Business
She thought of Carter Lockwood. She couldn’t very well call out "husband" in front of her mom and his mom without shocking everyone.
Anna walked to the Lockwood Family’s back garden. Not far from the garden, there was a lake that stretched all the way from the entrance of the Sterling Residence.
She sent Carter a message, telling him she was waiting for him there.
"Anna!"
Anna waited and waited but didn’t see Carter; instead, she saw someone she didn’t want to see.
Sean Lockwood had been keeping an eye on Anna and followed her when he saw her sneaking out.
He came up, wanting to ask Anna something.
"Do you have a thing for my uncle?"
Right out of the gate, Sean asked straightforwardly, leaving Anna momentarily stunned.
She wasn’t afraid of saying it would hurt Sean; it’s because...
What was Sean to her, and what right did he have to meddle in her affairs?
"Do you?"
Sean asked again.
"Anna, my uncle won’t ever like you, so there’s no need for you to have feelings for him just because I do!"
Hearing this, Anna felt quite uncomfortable.
"Just because of you?"
"Isn’t it?"
Sean continued, "When I married Zoe, you took it very hard, but please don’t act so rashly."
"Do you think by marrying my uncle and becoming my aunt, you’ll make me feel bad?"
"Anna, don’t be foolish. No matter what you do, I won’t find you interesting anymore."
"The two of us were never meant to be!"
"Pfft!"
Sean’s string of words made Anna burst out laughing.
"Haha..."
"That joke is really cracking me up!"
"Am I with Carter because of you?"
"Sean Lockwood, aside from that good-looking face of yours, there’s nothing about you that surpasses Carter Lockwood."
Sean was young, with a face that appealed to both the old and the young, but where did he get the confidence to think he could beat Carter?
"When it comes down to it, if Carter were a bit warmer, you wouldn’t even measure up."
Carter was too cold, so cold it diminished his attractiveness.
If this man would become gentler, smile more, what could Sean possibly compare to?
"Anna!"
After being humiliated, Sean couldn’t take it anymore.
In front of Anna, he realized his sense of superiority had vanished.
Sean didn’t say anything further, he looked over, examining Anna.
Anna looked back at him with disdain—not a trace of affection, not a shred of tenderness.
Long before this, Sean had understood internally that Anna no longer liked him.
Yet, he remained reluctant, testing her time and again.
"Anna." Sean softened his voice, moving closer to her.
"I’m just concerned about you."
It’s only after losing something that one realizes its value.
After marrying Zoe Quinn, whether in career or other aspects, Sean’s life hit rock bottom.
When they weren’t together, he saw Zoe Quinn as a goddess, but once they were, the goddess became all too ordinary. Often, Zoe’s tears irritated him.
At those times, he couldn’t help but think how much better Anna was, not needing him to constantly soothe her.
"My uncle is a deep thinker; you’re not his match."
"Anna, you need to think carefully."
Sean’s words left no impact on Anna.
Truth be told, she hardly remembered the past between them. Even if she did, according to her nature, once she didn’t want something, she’d never want it again.
"Sean Lockwood!"
Anna smiled, "Stay out of my business."
