Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure

Chapter 1200 - 1101: Begging Him to Save Her

  • Next Chapter

He wouldn’t dare stir up trouble between Anna and Carter Lockwood now—any fool could see the two of them were already a couple.

"Second Uncle, I’m sorry."

Sean Lockwood felt he’d better sneak off first and find a place to cool down.

"Sean."

As he was walking past Carter, Carter called out to him.

"After spending so much time with Zoe Quinn, you should know what kind of person she is!"

"Zoe is really nice." Sean instinctively spoke up for Zoe Quinn.

In fact, if he got along too well with Zoe Quinn, he’d never notice how good Anna was.

Someone can fake it for a while, but they can’t fake it for a lifetime.

Sean guiltily finished defending Zoe Quinn, then quickly ran off.

Sean hadn’t gone far when Anna happily stretched out her arms and wrapped them around Carter’s body.

"Honey, it’s so good to see you."

"Honey, it feels so good to be holding you!"

Just seeing Carter wasn’t enough; only with him in her arms did she feel at ease.

"Mm." Carter followed her words, responding softly. He reached out and turned her hand over, clasping it in his own.

He didn’t ask why Anna had come so early, without waiting for him.

He respected Anna’s choices.

"Honey, there were a lot of girls here today. Were they trying to introduce them to you?"

"I don’t know." Carter replied.

He really didn’t know.

But thinking back to how a crowd of young girls had been gathered around Old Mrs. Lockwood just now, it was probably for him.

"Are you mad?" Carter asked.

"No." Anna shook her head. "I actually think it’s pretty good."

"Your mom still wants to introduce me to you."

"How about we put on a little show? When the banquet’s over, you tell Old Mrs. Lockwood and the others that you’ve fallen for me."

"That way, we’ll be legit and out in the open."

Anna had come up with the idea on the spot, and she realized it was actually a great one.

"Mm..."

Just as Carter was about to answer, a woman’s shrill scream suddenly came from not far away.

"Help, somebody help!"

The voice sounded familiar.

Right after that, another woman called out, "Sis, hang in there!"

Anna recognized whose voices they were.

Those two women had come to the Lockwood estate with Miles Morgan; Anna had already seen them earlier.

None of them had paid any attention to each other.

What a coincidence—while she and Carter were on a date here, Ivy Preston and the others happened to be nearby too.

"Honey, let’s go somewhere else."

Anna had no interest in getting involved with Ivy’s drama. Even if something really happened, the Lockwood family’s staff would soon rush over.

"Okay." Carter agreed. Just as the two of them turned to leave, Ivy’s tearful cries came again from that direction.

"Mr. Ford, you can’t leave."

"You can’t just stand by and do nothing."

Mr. Ford!

Those three words made Carter and Anna stop in their tracks at the same time.

Among the guests, aside from The Eldest Master Ford and Julian Ford, there was no one else with the surname Ford.

"Let’s go take a look." Anna said, and Carter followed her over.

This area was closer to the banquet hall. Anna and Carter could hear Ivy’s cries clearly, but it would take a while for them to reach the main hall.

And after shouting a couple of times, Ivy stopped yelling for help and instead started pleading with Julian Ford.

She was clearly up to something!

Anna and Carter went over and indeed saw Julian Ford being blocked by Ivy Preston, while Riley Preston was in the lake, "splash splash" slapping at the water.

"Mr. Ford, please go down and save my sister."

"If you don’t jump in now, something really will happen to her."

Ivy clutched at Julian Ford’s clothes, crying as she begged.

With that pregnant belly of hers, there was no way she could jump in herself.

So if anyone was going in, it had to be Julian.

"And what does it have to do with me if something happens to her?" Julian saw right through Ivy’s little scheme in the midst of her sobbing.

Ivy thought the seemingly perfect Julian Ford was easy to bully and manipulate—she couldn’t have been more wrong.
