Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1928: Who Should Be Worried in 2027

Both the Holy Court and the temple have their share of despicable people, yet there are also those of righteousness. She had some admiration for Zhuge Qiu, a Penalty Priest responsible for the laws, so she was truly surprised that the prestigious Life God Temple would appoint someone like Zhao Xinggu as a Penalty Priest.

"He belongs to the Zhao Family, with Zhao Xinghong, the Life Temple Right Priest, as his eldest brother. Otherwise, with his cultivation and character, how could he become a Penalty Priest?" Zhuge Qiu shook his head and said.

"Zhao Xinghong, does he have a son named Zhao Zhiyuan?" Han Yan suddenly remembered the one who was beaten up by Gao Weihu in the black market. No wonder she felt the name Zhao Xinggu sounded familiar before; it turned out he was Zhao Xinghong’s brother.

"Master Priest, do you know this person?" Zhuge Qiu looked at Han Yan with surprise.

"I’ve met once, not a good person. I reckon the whole family isn’t good." Han Yan said. She initially only despised Zhao Xinggu, but now with Zhao Zhiyuan in the equation, her disdain extended to the entire Zhao Family.

"Lord Zhao Xinghong is decent, but he is too indulgent with his family. Master Priest, I know you do not tolerate injustice, but Zhao Xinghao carries a Divine Position, plus the backing of his elder brother. Even if you disagree with his demands, it’s best not to snap openly. Such vile people resort to all kinds of tricks, one must be cautious." Zhuge Qiu continued, sighing with self-reproach. "It’s also my fault; had I known earlier that causing trouble would ensue, I wouldn’t have reported Xiang Qiuzhan’s case, which was intended to earn some credit on your behalf, Master Priest, but instead led to trouble."

"There’s no need for Lord Zhuge to self-blame, this matter is not your fault." Hearing this, Han Yan felt more favorable towards Zhuge Qiu.

She didn’t blame Zhuge Qiu at all. Reporting the Xiang Qiuzhan matter to the Life God Temple was well-intentioned; who would have known it would attract the trouble of Zhao Xinggu, who brazenly demanded bribes, likely having done so numerous times before.

"Well then, let him stay for a few days, I’ll just ignore him and he’ll leave once he’s bored." Han Yan said further.

Given the circumstances, she relinquished hope for rewards from the Main Temple. The Divine Skill Secret Manual, possibly coveted by others, might hold less value to her compared to the elixirs Zhao Xinggu demanded, or even less than the most mundane money.

"That’s for the best, given his capabilities, if Master Priest openly confronts him, you might gain little, and future troubles would be inevitable." Zhuge Qiu sighed with relief. He was indeed worried that Han Yan would break with Zhao Xinggu, resulting in a direct conflict.

However, upon considering that Han Yan slew Xiang Qiuzhan yet received no accolades, he felt regretful for her.

What he didn’t realize was that Han Yan never sought attention from the Main Temple; any benefit was a pleasant surprise, but lack thereof wouldn’t cause her any grievance.

"Lord Zhuge, have you not heard about the ceremony of worship?" Han Yan asked upon noticing his concerned expression.

He was evidently clueless about her current strength, as he worried she couldn’t gain any advantage from a clash with Zhao Xinggu.

"Ever since Zhao Xinggu received the order, he urged me to come to Huayu City joyfully. On the way, I caught some rumors saying Master Priest dominated other main priests to win the crown at the ceremony, but the details aren’t quite clear." Zhuge Qiu spoke earnestly.

Just as expected, though Han Yan now commanded the cultivation of a Seventh-order Divine Heart Priest, as Huayu Temple Chief Priest, she wore the white priest robe by protocol. Zhuge Qiu, uninformed about the ceremony details, remained unaware of the extent of her strength, which led to his concern.

If known, it would be Zhao Xinggu’s fate that warranted concern.

Han Yan never indulged in showing off her power, nor did she explain, arranging for the guards to lead Zhuge Qiu to the guest room for rest.
