Chapter 568 - 463: Spatial Ring, Various Spiritual Treasures from Celestial Wolf City

  • Next Chapter

Although One-tailed was puzzled, she didn’t say anything or give it much thought. She simply set the plain white dress aside and stored it back in her Spatial Ring.

The dress was exquisitely crafted, featuring various patterns embroidered using some unknown technique. With a white base inlaid with gold thread, it possessed an air of opulence that could not be hidden. More importantly, the material itself was far from simple; it could resist a significant degree of magical and physical attacks.

For example, even when she deliberately scraped her fingertip against the silk fabric, it slid off as if touching flowing water, leaving the material completely unscathed.

Her fingertips, it should be noted, were incredibly sharp—like knives. Slicing through stone was a trivial matter for her. Yet this silk dress, as soft as water, was just that difficult to tear.

Probing it with her Heaven and Earth Spirit Charm, she could sense an incredible resilience within. This meant that the techniques she had just used to kill those members of the Demon Race would be unable to cause any noticeable damage to the dress.

This was what made the dress so extraordinary. One-tailed couldn’t help but wonder why those members of the Demon Race hadn’t been wearing it. If they had, she likely wouldn’t have been able to kill them instantly.

The Squirrel Demon couldn’t identify it either but marveled that it had to be an incredible, high-grade Spiritual Treasure. She then voiced her own speculation, "I’ve heard that in a year, it will be the birthday of the Celestial Wolf Ancestor, the First City Lord. The Ancestors of the Great Demon Races and the experts within the Celestial Wolf Race will all present gifts. Even other cities will send representatives with precious treasures. Perhaps this was the gift he was preparing."

Yes, the Celestial Wolf Ancestor—that Super True Dominator, founder of Celestial Wolf City, and First City Lord supported by countless demons—was about to have his birthday. It was the time when all the major Demon Races were preparing gifts, so it was very likely that this was the gift he had been preparing.

It was just that, before the gift could reach the Ancestor, it had already fallen into One-tailed’s hands. And from the looks of it, it had taken a very long time to create.

The Squirrel Demon was filled with emotion. She hadn’t been able to touch even a corner of the dress, but just gazing at it from afar, she could feel its magnificent aura. ’Even Ancestor Level figures probably don’t get to wear something this good’—though she had never actually seen what the Ancestors of the various great races looked like.

’A dress like this... only the Celestial Wolf Ancestor, the sole Super True Dominator in this city, is worthy of wearing it.’

And yet, Lord One-tailed was planning to give it to her sister. For convenience, One-tailed referred to the Nine-tailed Fox as Sister Nine-tailed.

’If a dress like this were for that Lord Nine-tailed Fox to wear...’

An image formed in her mind: snow-white hair fluttering, a fair and cold face, peach-blossom eyes brimming with pride, a plain white dress inlaid with gold thread swaying in the wind, and nine large, fluffy white tails fanned out behind her, creating an overwhelming sense of pressure.

That noble and arrogant air would be impossible to conceal. She could only imagine what an astonishing presence Lord Nine-tailed Fox would have.

Suddenly, the Squirrel Demon’s own heart began to pound. It felt thrilling. She seemed to realize that the people she was serving were not simple. ’Their status must be even more extraordinary than I previously imagined, and their plans are likely immense.’

’They might be here to cause trouble for the Celestial Wolf Race, specifically targeting Celestial Wolf City! And they’re doing it right as the Celestial Wolf Ancestor’s birthday is approaching, seizing their mining area. If this isn’t a targeted provocation, what is it?’

’Then again, the Celestial Wolf Ancestor is basically synonymous with invincibility. Outside of the Chaos Ancient City in the core region, what Great Demon could possibly make the Celestial Wolf Ancestor bow his head?’

’But Lord Nine-tailed Fox and her companions came from the outside; they must be acting so boldly for a reason. Their abilities must far exceed my imagination. After all, just now, even the petite Lord One-tailed casually slaughtered one of the Celestial Wolf Race’s strongest experts above the Spirit Control Realm. Her true combat prowess must be formidable even among the Transformation Realm cultivators of the Wolf Race!’

’Thinking about it this way, Lord Nine-tailed Fox and the others must have a scheme, and their strength is abnormally powerful. Looking at the current situation, it’s clear they’ve occupied the mining area to wait for the Celestial Wolf Race to continuously send experts, just to defeat them one by one!’

’Of course, this all assumes the Celestial Wolf Race continues to underestimate them. For instance, if they only send a single Transformation Realm expert in the end, he would still be fated to be defeated by Lord One-tailed. Unless... unless he was one of those truly top-tier experts at the Perfect Transformation Realm, on the verge of breaking through to the next Realm—someone capable of dominating dozens of other Demon Race Ancestors of the same generation!’

As these thoughts raced through her mind, the Squirrel Demon’s heart hammered in her chest. She knew she had started down a path of no return. All she could do was pray that Lord One-tailed could truly protect her, and maybe even take her away from this place when it was all over.

She did her best to help One-tailed identify the treasures within the Spatial Ring, but One-tailed’s expression remained somewhat cold. Other than her initial curiosity about the dress, she seemed to have little interest in the various Treasures of Heaven and Earth they found afterward.

In truth, this pile of Spiritual Treasures was something an ordinary demon in Celestial Wolf City could never hope to obtain in a lifetime. Indeed, not even a single item was something an Independent Cultivator could acquire. Yet in One-tailed’s hands, they were merely little toys to be casually counted.

Faced with this attitude, the Squirrel Demon felt a sense of defeat, even panic. In front of Lord One-tailed, she felt like a country bumpkin who had never seen the world. After all, every time she saw a Spiritual Treasure she recognized, she would get excited, but Lord One-tailed had no such reaction; she was rather cold.

Before long, she finally finished introducing all the treasures. The Squirrel Demon watched with a touch of melancholy as the last two strings of bells were picked up by One-tailed. Seeing so many Spiritual Treasures put away one by one left her feeling somewhat wistful. However, this final Spiritual Treasure at last piqued One-tailed’s interest.

TING-A-LING~

Her fair, slender fingers wrapped around the red strings of the two little bells. A slight shake produced a crisp chime like a bird’s call. A faint light sparked in One-tailed’s limpid eyes. "This one’s not bad. Interesting."

She was quite fond of this pair of bells. It seemed that just hearing their chime brought a sense of peace to her heart. It was a simple, plain sound, yet it held a certain meaning for her.

Liking something is a feeling. It doesn’t need to be earth-shattering or miraculous; just this is enough.

She then tied the two small, red-stringed bells to her ankles. A light hop sent out a crisp TING-A-LING, which was especially fun. It seemed to make her more lively.

The Squirrel Demon stared blankly as One-tailed hopped and danced about. It was as if the young lord, who had always seemed so cold and emotionless, was finally showing the playfulness appropriate for her age. "Lord One-tailed..."

As she murmured, she also felt her own heart calming. ’If Lord One-tailed tied up her hair and changed into a bright red jacket and cuffed trousers, she would look even more lively. In fact, that’s how girls her age in the Great Demon Races usually dress.’

’Although I don’t know how old Lord One-tailed actually is, I can tell she lacks common knowledge about some things. Her Cultivation Realm is just very high, and she acts so cold.’

’But, if I could win her favor...’

"Lord One-tailed, shall I tie up your hair for you?"

The Squirrel Demon stepped forward, wringing her small hands as if she had mustered all her courage. One-tailed stopped hopping, the bells on her ankles falling silent. She turned her small, fair face. "What’s ’tying up hair’?"

Her small, white fox ears twitched, and silvery-white strands of hair tumbled over her chest. She looked both innocent and adorable.
