Chapter 969: Queen Lilith’s Approach (2)
The faint music from the banquet could still be heard drifting through the palace garden, while a few couples enjoyed the beautiful evening atmosphere.
Yuan and Queen Lilith sat on a bench, quietly watching the fireflies fluttering above the flowerbeds. The sight before them was breathtakingly beautiful.
Many gazes landed on Yuan and Lilith as they sat together on the bench, and most of them were anything but friendly.
After all, Lilith’s beauty was something many people admired, and now she was sitting alone in the garden with a handsome young man.
It was bound to raise suspicions among the guests, especially the men.
"So, what did you want to talk about, Your Majesty?" Yuan asked calmly, his expression remaining composed.
"I actually have quite a few things I’d like to talk to you about," she replied with a smile as she leaned back against the bench.
She was trying her best to maintain her composure, but his handsome appearance made it surprisingly difficult for her to keep a calm expression.
Taking a deep breath, she finally spoke. "First of all, I’d like to apologize for my rude behavior toward you back in my kingdom. I know it’s rather late for that, but I still wanted to offer my sincere apology."
"Apology accepted. What’s the second reason?" Yuan replied as he looked at her, remaining calm despite her naturally seductive aura.
Lilith stared at him for a few seconds before letting out a soft, alluring chuckle.
"Isn’t it obvious? I want to know more about you. After all, you’re the first human to appear on the Demonic Continent in hundreds of years."
"Who wouldn’t be curious about someone like you? And besides, the impossible feats you accomplished on the battlefield are far too extraordinary to ignore," she said while looking at him with a faint smile.
Then she continued, "Furthermore, I find myself strangely drawn to you. Isn’t that reason enough to want to know you better?"
Yuan looked at her with a stunned expression. He hadn’t expected her to be so straightforward. As expected of a succubus who had lived for centuries.
"That certainly sounds like a good enough reason... However, I still don’t understand why you’re so determined to get to know me," Yuan said after letting out a sigh.
"Or more specifically, why you’re trying to get close to me... You already know that I have multiple partners."
"I know. All those women around you are your wives, except for a few individuals. After all, I can smell your scent on them."
"..."
Yuan was completely caught off guard by that statement and stared at her in disbelief.
"You can what...?!"
"Your scent. I can smell it on them. It’s quite obvious to me," she replied with a playful smile.
’This woman is crazy!!’ Yuan screamed inwardly, utterly bewildered.
Seeing the expression on Yuan’s face, Lilith immediately realized she needed to explain herself before he misunderstood her intentions.
"Well, you probably don’t know this, but we succubi possess an extremely sharp sense of smell. We can even tell whether someone is lying simply by detecting subtle changes in their scent," she explained, hoping to clear up the misunderstanding before he became wary of her.
After all, to someone unfamiliar with succubi, such an ability could sound rather unsettling.
’Oh, so they possess a unique ability like that... For a moment, I thought she was being creepy, but it turns out it was just a misunderstanding,’ Yuan thought inwardly as he let out a quiet sigh.
"I see... No wonder your people managed to survive for so long," Yuan muttered after a moment of thought.
"Well, without this ability, our succubus race would have long since become slaves of the Werewolf Kingdom. Those lustful, hideous dogs..." she replied, her voice carrying a deep hatred toward the werewolf race.
For the next few moments, neither of them spoke as they quietly watched the fireflies dancing among the flowers.
Meanwhile, Anna Grace and the others left the grand banquet hall after the guests began approaching them the moment Yuan was no longer by their side.
They arrived at a balcony away from the crowd, hoping to enjoy some fresh air and a bit of peace.
However, Princess Nerith chose to remain inside the banquet hall due to various political matters. Her sudden disappearance could easily lead to unnecessary misunderstandings among the guests.
Fortunately, everyone within the empire was familiar with her reputation, which discouraged most people from attempting to approach her. After all, she was well known for having no interest in men.
Anna Grace looked toward the garden and spotted Yuan and Lilith sitting together on a bench. She quietly sighed in relief when she noticed that a respectable distance remained between them.
"Fortunately, that lustful succubus seems to be behaving herself today... Though I still wonder what she’s plotting in that rotten brain of hers," Isolde muttered as she stepped beside Anna Grace.
Anna Grace chuckled softly before replying, "She’s probably trying a different method to seduce my darling. I can tell at a glance that she’s not the type of woman who gives up easily."
"I think so too... That old virgin can’t seem to keep herself away from Yuan..."
"..."
Anna Grace slowly turned toward Isolde with a blank expression, as if she had just heard something completely unbelievable.
"What?! That damned succubus is still a virgin? How is that even possible?!" Anna Grace exclaimed, genuinely shocked by the unexpected revelation.
"Well, even I don’t know everything about it," Isolde shrugged before continuing, "However, if that succubus managed to remain pure for this long, she was probably waiting for a human. After all, a Succubus Queen must remain a virgin if she wishes to produce an heir."
"And her first partner must be a human for an heir to be born. That’s likely the reason she remained a virgin all these years, even though it weakened her bloodline and slowed her growth." She explained her theory calmly.
"I see... So Yuan’s appearance on the continent must have given her the opportunity she’s been waiting for all this time..." Anna Grace said, finally understanding the situation.
"Exactly. That’s probably why she’s being so persistent about getting close to him... What a cunning woman," Isolde added with a nod, her gaze remaining fixed on Lilith’s figure in the distance.
"I wonder how Yuan is going to deal with her. And knowing how naturally seductive Lilith is, she certainly won’t make things easy for him," Mireya said as she stepped closer to the balcony railing.
"He’s always been like that..." Anna Grace sighed softly.
