My Child and I Married a Billionaire

Chapter 392: It Couldn’t Be to Spite Me

Her sudden departure had left the crowd of young men around her disappointed.

Now that she was back, they swarmed her like a pack of wolves, howling with excitement.

She alone had cranked the dance floor’s energy to its peak.

Cecelia Archer stared, dumbfounded, at the scene and then back at Brandon Jacobs, utterly confused by what was going on.

She exchanged a look with Damien Vaughn, who seemed just as speechless.

’He knew Brandon Jacobs hadn’t moved on from Elsa’s death, but did he really have to drag himself through the mud like this?’

He took Cecelia Archer’s hand and stood up, his expression cold.

"Brandon Jacobs, come to my office. I need to talk to you."

Brandon Jacobs seemed to know what was coming and didn’t move.

"We’re all friends here. Is there something you can’t say in front of them?"

"It’s precisely because we’re all friends that I don’t want to make everyone uncomfortable. Come upstairs with me."

Maybe it was Damien Vaughn’s commanding presence, or maybe Brandon Jacobs was actually willing to listen, but after a two-second pause, he got up and followed.

Zeke Walton watched them, perplexed.

"What’s going on with them? So mysterious. Jacobs’ fiancée... she’s gorgeous, sure, but she’s a bit much... Aren’t his parents super traditional? How could they ever accept a daughter-in-law like that?"

"Lunatics! They’re all fucking lunatics!"

Wyatt Wynn ignored him, suddenly slamming his glass onto the coffee table and standing up in a rage.

"Are you leaving or not? I’m out of here!"

’Everyone else is gone. What’s the point of me staying here alone?’

He’d come out to have a good time, but things just kept getting more frustrating. Zeke Walton decided to get up and leave too.

The two of them got into their separate cars. After watching Zeke Walton speed away from the club’s entrance, Wyatt Wynn turned around and jumped back out of his.

His face was grim. He pushed through the crowd, heading straight for the dance floor.

Faye Fisher was dancing her heart out when she suddenly felt a strong hand grip her waist. Startled, she immediately tried to push it away.

But the face she saw was Wyatt Wynn’s. "What are you doing?"

"Come with me!"

Faye Fisher was still scared. She instinctively glanced toward the sofa, only to see that everyone was gone.

"What do you want?"

"If you won’t walk, do you expect me to carry you?"

Faye Fisher knew his temper. Afraid of being seen, she had no choice but to follow him.

Outside the club, Wyatt Wynn pulled open the car door with a dark expression, waiting for her to get in. Faye Fisher didn’t move.

She casually crossed her arms and smirked at him.

"I belong to your friend now. It wouldn’t look good if he saw me getting into your car, would it?"

Wyatt Wynn gritted his teeth. "You know me? You still remember me? You know Brandon Jacobs is my friend? And you still got with him! Faye Fisher, are you out of your goddamn mind? Get in the car!"

Faye Fisher just stood there watching him, pointedly refusing to get in.

Wyatt Wynn locked eyes with her for a moment, then slammed the car door shut and walked toward her.

"I’m not afraid of being seen. Jacobs probably doesn’t know about our past, and I’ll have to tell him sooner or later anyway. Since you’re not scared either, let’s just talk right here."

When he got aggressive and played hardball, Faye Fisher was clearly intimidated.

Her eyes flickered. Gritting her back teeth, she shoved Wyatt Wynn aside and resentfully got into the car.

Wyatt Wynn, his face still grim, drove a few blocks away and parked in the shadows.

"When did you get back?"

"What’s it to you?" Faye Fisher leaned against the window, staring outside.

"If I remember correctly, we broke up years ago. What I do and who I’m with has nothing to do with you anymore. What right do you have to ask me anything?"

She was right.

They had met as exchange students in the Norden after graduating high school at eighteen.

Wyatt Wynn had spent three and a half years in the Norden, and they had dated for all three and a half of those years. But that was five years ago now.

They hadn’t spoken once in those five years. He really didn’t have the right to ask.

But... she could marry anyone. Anyone but Brandon Jacobs.

Wyatt Wynn and Brandon Jacobs had been best friends since they were kids. He couldn’t accept his ex-girlfriend marrying his best friend.

Besides, if Brandon Jacobs knew, he would never be able to accept it either.

The moment he saw Brandon Jacobs pull her over to sit across from him, Wyatt Wynn’s mind had nearly exploded.

He knew their circle was small, but he never imagined it was *this* small.

That a girl from Coalmont could get tangled up in all this.

"Our breakup back then wasn’t just my fault. Weren’t you the one who was so stubborn, swearing you’d never look back? Why do you sound like you’re still holding a grudge against me?"

Faye Fisher turned her head, looking at him with contempt for a couple of seconds.

"It’s been so many years, how have you not matured at all? You’re still so full of yourself. Me, hold a grudge against you? What’s there to hold a grudge over? The world is full of men. I could find a new one in a minute after leaving you. Besides, I have a man now. You think I have the time to waste holding a grudge against you?"

If it weren’t for their mutual friends and the things he’d heard, Wyatt Wynn might have actually believed her arrogant act.

"Is that so? If you weren’t holding a grudge, why did you go around telling everyone I was dead? If you weren’t holding a grudge, why have you been single all these years, refusing to date? There are plenty of men out there. Go on, find one."

"You!"

Faye Fisher, as if her mask had been ripped away, flew into a rage. She raised her hand to slap him, but Wyatt Wynn caught her wrist.

"Why did you come to Veridia? Knowing your personality, there’s no way you’d marry Brandon Jacobs if you didn’t have feelings for him. Don’t tell me you came here just to piss me off."

He had her hand, she couldn’t move it, but she could still use her mouth.

Faye Fisher opened her mouth and spat in his face.

"You’re shameless. I came here just to piss you off? Who the hell do you think you are! Who says I don’t have feelings for Brandon Jacobs? We’ve been engaged for years! I love him to death! Let go of me! If my husband sees this, he’ll skin you alive!"

"You say I haven’t matured, but you’re still the same as ever, with a temper like a firecracker. With parents like Brandon Jacobs’, you think you can be their daughter-in-law? Hmph."

Wyatt Wynn let her go and took out a tissue to wipe his face.

"Alright, stop acting out with me, and don’t do anything stupid. I’m calling Jacobs right now. I’ll have him come over, we’ll clear the air, and you two can’t get married."

Faye Fisher sneered at him.

"You really like sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong. Too bad for you, you can’t do a thing about it. We’re already married. Who’s older, you or Brandon Jacobs? We just registered our marriage this afternoon. So, should you be calling me your sister-in-law?"

"What? You two are registered?"

The color drained from Wyatt Wynn’s face.

"Faye Fisher, this isn’t funny! Don’t joke around with me!"

"Who’s joking? Didn’t Brandon Jacobs ask you all out tonight specifically to tell you this? Hasn’t he told you yet?"

Faye Fisher raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow and smiled.

"This is the last time you’ll get to call me by my name. After this, you won’t have the right."

"I’ve said all I have to say. Take me back now. I’m a married woman, and I don’t want any messy rumors starting about us."
