My Child and I Married a Billionaire
Chapter 405: Get Out
Wyatt Wynn didn’t have any money on him. And even if he did, there was no way he’d buy her more alcohol.
’Back then, she might have been a bit dramatic and clingy, but she was a good, well-behaved girl. How did she turn into this?’
"I don’t. Are you an alcoholic now? Do you feel awful if you go a day without a drink?"
Faye Fisher leaned her head against the swing’s chain and spoke unhurriedly.
"This stuff helps me sleep. I can’t fall asleep without it."
’Can’t sleep?’ It was as if Wyatt Wynn had just heard the biggest joke in the world.
Back when they were dating, Faye Fisher had slept through class and slept while doing her homework. Apart from eating, having sex with him, or going out, she was awake. All other times, she was drowsy and listless.
’Wyatt Wynn had done both of their homework assignments, had to keep her happy, and put in all the work in bed. He’d spent his days teasing her for being a lazy pig, and now she was claiming she couldn’t sleep?’
"You need to take medicine for insomnia, lady. If you keep drinking like this every day, you’ll destroy your liver. Besides, you’ll have kids someday. You’ll have to quit then, too."
His words made Faye Fisher laugh.
"Have kids with who? Brandon Jacobs? Do you think the two of us can have a child the way we are now?"
It was true they couldn’t have a child in their current state, but they were already married—especially with the support of both their families. Having children was only a matter of time.
Wyatt Wynn knew he shouldn’t be lecturing her, that he had no right to. But with things as they were, he couldn’t help but give her a piece of his mind.
"You two can’t go on like this forever, can you? I know Jacobs; he’s not a bad guy. Since you’re married, you should try to make it work..."
His words shattered Faye Fisher’s fragile calm.
She shot up from the swing, her eyes fixed on Wyatt Wynn with an icy glare.
"If Brandon Jacobs is so great, and you’re so eager for him to have a child, then why don’t you go convince him! And if I recall correctly, you’re not getting any younger either, are you? Instead of wasting your time worrying about whether other people will stay this way forever or have children, maybe you should worry about yourself!"
Wyatt Wynn was speechless.
With that, Faye Fisher stormed toward the hotel exit. Afraid she was heading to another bar to cause trouble, Wyatt rushed after her and grabbed her.
"Okay, okay, I’ll stop meddling. I won’t say another word about you two, so don’t be angry. It’s too late tonight, you really can’t go to another bar. Come back with me."
His grip was tight, and Faye winced in pain as she tried to wrench her arm free.
Wyatt Wynn instinctively tightened his grip, inadvertently pushing her bracelet aside. That’s when he felt the ridges on her skin, like a series of scars.
"What’s this? What happened to your wrist?"
He tried to pull her wrist closer to see, but Faye struggled even more desperately.
"What’s it to you? Don’t look! Let go!"
The more she protested, the more curious Wyatt Wynn became.
Faye Fisher was so thin; she was no match for him. In one motion, he yanked her in front of him.
He held her wrist up to his eyes. There were four hideous, centipede-like scars.
Three were clearly old, their color having faded to nearly match her skin tone.
But one of them was still a pinkish-red, clearly having healed only recently.
Wyatt Wynn never in a million years expected to see something like this on her wrist.
"You tried to kill yourself? More than once? What’s wrong? Are you sick? Is it depression?"
Though he’d never suffered from it himself, he’d heard of people in their circle who had, who would periodically attempt suicide by slitting their wrists.
Whenever he used to hear about such things, he would scoff at those people for being tired of living, for not appreciating how good they had it.
And here he was, seeing it on the wrist of his former lover.
For Faye Fisher, it wasn’t just that he had seen her scars; it was as if he had uncovered her deepest, most private secret. Humiliation turned to fury. Unable to break his grip, she used her free hand to slap him across the face.
"What’s it to you? I’m your friend’s wife now! What right do you have to grab my wrist like this? Let go!"
She felt like she’d used all her strength, but the slap landed on Wyatt Wynn’s face like a gentle swat from a kitten.
Wyatt Wynn was completely unfazed by her fury, his eyes fixed on her.
"How long has this been going on? Are you on medication? Does Brandon Jacobs know?"
Faye Fisher sneered. "And what if it has been a long time, I’m not on medication, and Brandon Jacobs doesn’t know? Are you going to run and tattle to him tomorrow? Tell him I have a mental illness, that I’m not right in the head, so he should dump me immediately?"
That wasn’t what Wyatt Wynn meant at all. He was simply concerned about her, but Faye insisted on twisting his words.
After two seconds of stunned silence, he chose to apologize, afraid of provoking her further.
"Okay, okay, you’re right, it’s my fault. Let’s not talk about it anymore. Let’s go back to the room first. We can talk more in the room."
He tried to pull Faye back toward the hotel, but she shrieked and refused to budge.
"Don’t touch me! Let go of me! I’m not going back! Let me go!"
Wyatt had no other choice. He simply swept her up into his arms.
She shrieked the whole way as he carried her to his room.
He closed the door, locked it, and set her down on the floor. In a soft, placating voice, Wyatt Wynn said,
"You’ve had a long, tiring day. You’re exhausted. You really need to rest. We can talk tomorrow. Be good now, go take a shower. I’ll give you a massage when you’re done. Don’t you remember? You always said my massages were so comfortable they made you sleepy. I’ll help you fall asleep."
’Back when they were dating, Faye was always being a brat.’
’Wyatt would be doing her homework, and she would just nap next to him. When she woke up, she’d whine that the desk was uncomfortable and made her sore, then demand he give her a massage.’
’She couldn’t believe that after so many years, it wasn’t just her who remembered; he did, too.’
This made Faye Fisher’s heart ache even more.
It felt like a wad of cotton was stuffed in her chest, making it hard to breathe. She wanted to cry, to scream, to go insane!
’She thought she could control herself, but it was obvious now that the moment she was in front of Wyatt Wynn, she lost all restraint.’
’When he was cruel, she couldn’t resist mocking and taunting him, acting even crueler in return just to get under his skin and make him miserable.’
’But the moment he was gentle, all those dead memories would come rushing back to life.’
’She looked at this man she could never have again, and the memories of when he had been hers tortured her until life felt worse than death.’
"No! I don’t want to sleep! Don’t talk to me! I don’t want to see you! I want a drink, give me a drink! Wyatt Wynn, I feel so awful, can’t you just stop bothering me? Go away! Get out! Why don’t you just go die?"
She started screaming, losing control, flailing at Wyatt Wynn with her fists and feet.
Watching her like this, Wyatt Wynn was filled with a profound sense of helplessness, overshadowed only by his guilt.
’If he’d known what that other woman had said to her back then, he would have explained everything before breaking up with her.’
’No, he wouldn’t have broken up with her in the first place.’
’If he hadn’t, would she have ever gotten sick? Would they be married right now?’
’Wyatt Wynn hadn’t expected that Faye’s reappearance would cause those dead memories to come back and attack him, too. Hell, his own heart had been aching for two days because of her, hadn’t it?’
"Alright, alright, I was wrong. It’s all my fault, I’m sorry. Stop screaming, you’re going to hurt your throat. Let’s go take a shower and get some sleep. Everything will be better when you wake up, okay?"
He desperately tried to restrain her thrashing as he carried her into the bathroom, placing them both under the warm spray of the showerhead.
