My Days Building A Harem At A Japanese Girls' High School
Chapter 35: Rejecting Women Is a Bad Habit
Leaving Quillan with a line that sparked endless imagination, Haruka Himuro headed off toward the rented apartment.
Meanwhile, Quillan was tracked down by Ai Oda, who was nearly running herself ragged with busyness. Though he didn’t even have a set of work clothes yet, Ai Oda actually wanted him to go up front to the entrance to help out as a greeter!
"Ai-nee, aren’t greeters supposed to be girls?" Quillan rolled his eyes. He was a guy—did she expect him to put on a maid outfit?
Ai Oda explained, "I just need you to go up front and lend a hand, because we are truly short-handed right now. Just look outside; business is amazing today!"
Quillan glanced toward the front hall and saw that a huge crowd of customers had indeed flooded the café. That girl Miyuki Sakurai wasn’t nervous anymore; instead, she was so busy she was dizzy, constantly running back and forth across the front hall.
Withdrawing his gaze, Quillan asked Ai Oda, "Ai-nee, good business is a great thing, but... sending me to the door to act as a greeter is a bit... a bit too inappropriate, isn’t it? After all, I’m a boy, and this is a maid-themed café. If customers see a boy greeting them at the door, they probably won’t even want to come in!"
"Who’s asking them to come in?" Ai Oda said to Quillan. "I just want you to change into a waiter’s uniform, stand at the door, and help me temporarily hold those customers outside!"
There’s actually such a thing as blocking customers from coming in?
Ai Oda sighed in distress. "Even the upper floor is completely packed with customers. I never expected business to be this crazy tonight. Even though tomorrow is Saturday and we can rest, this is still way too terrifying, right?"
Quillan was left completely speechless. Hearing Ai Oda’s words, he couldn’t help but wonder if he was just extraordinarily unlucky.
Even at his very first part-time job, the place had to suffer a sudden surge of overwhelming business. Was this trying to work him to death?
Left with no choice, Quillan headed to the changing room and put on a waiter’s outfit—a white collared shirt underneath, a black vest over it, black trousers, and an apron tied around his waist...
Everything else was fine, but when he saw the apron, Quillan’s face turned green.
This apron was actually a maid uniform apron. Although it was black, the white lace fringe made it look extremely feminine.
Without a second thought, Quillan casually tossed the apron aside. But Ai Oda suddenly burst in: "Quillan-kun, are you done changing? Quick, come with me—oh, you have to tie this on, too!"
Looking back, he saw the very apron he had just thrown away gripped in Ai Oda’s hands. Quillan nearly wept as he said to her, "Ai-nee, this is a maid’s apron. I can’t wear this, right?"
"Why can’t you wear it?" Without allowing any room for argument, Ai Oda tied the apron around Quillan’s waist. She appraised him for a moment and said, "This looks great! Who knew you’d still look so handsome in a waiter’s outfit, Quillan-kun? Relax! Come with me..."
Then, Ai Oda led Quillan straight through the bustling front hall. Arriving at the entrance, she placed the glass door handle into Quillan’s hand and instructed, "Stand outside, hold onto this door handle, and don’t let go. Also... wear this!"
Ai Oda hung a sign around Quillan’s neck that read: Temporarily Closed for New Guests!
The corners of Quillan’s mouth twitched a few times. He was just about to voice his protest, but Ai Oda had already turned around to rush back to her work.
Standing helplessly by the door, Quillan quickly realized that his unique outfit—standing right beside a busy commercial street filled with bustling pedestrians—was rapidly attracting a lot of eyes.
Moreover, a significant portion of them were women. Initially, it was three stylishly dressed beauties walking arm-in-arm, each carrying several shopping bags. As they passed the front of the Moe Jam Café, they caught sight of Quillan’s outfit. One beauty wearing a short skirt and black stockings covered her mouth with a laugh, whispered something to her two companions, and then walked over together.
Reaching Quillan, the three of them amusedly appraised him, and the beauty in black stockings reached out to push open the café door.
"Sorry..." Quillan hastily raised a hand to block her, pointing to the sign on his chest as he said, "Excuse me, ladies, but the café is suddenly at full capacity. There are no spare seats available right now!"
"Business is that good?"
"Looks like we really came to the right place!"
"It’s completely packed? The food in this café must be amazing, right?"
Upon hearing Quillan’s explanation, far from leaving, the three ignored the notice sign on his chest and pushed right past the glass door to walk inside.
The last one to step in—a beauty dressed very coolly in a short skirt—even leaned close to Quillan’s face and dropped a line: "Handsome, has anyone ever told you that rejecting women is a bad habit? So we’re going in anyway; it’s fine, we can just wait until a table opens up..."
"But..."
Looking at the backs of the three beauties, Quillan said helplessly, "But this is a maid-themed café!"
Regrettably, the three beauties walked right inside anyway and sat down on the sofa in the waiting area. One of the girls even glanced back at Quillan and blew him a flirtatious wink!
"What the..."
Quillan turned back around and couldn’t help but blurt out a curse.
Then, Quillan realized that without him even noticing, a large crowd of people had gathered in front of the café.
What’s more, most of those people were stylishly dressed women. Judging by their age, they all seemed to be married, yet none of them had men by their side. Those women were all boldly appraising Quillan with their eyes, constantly covering their mouths and laughing among themselves.
"Heh..."
Quillan felt awkward to the absolute extreme. Just then, the café door suddenly burst open, accompanied by Ai Oda’s complaining voice: "Hey, Quillan-kun! Didn’t I ask you not to let customers in for now? Did you just see that the three who went in were beauties, so you..."
Halfway through her sentence, Ai Oda stepped out the door and froze on the spot, her mouth agape.
"Manager Oda, see for yourself!" Quillan was deeply exasperated too. He had no idea what was happening or why all these women were gathered in front of the café.
"S-So many people!" Ai Oda blinked her eyes, exclaiming in disbelief, "And... they’re all women?!"
A maid-themed café was supposed to primarily cater to male customers. As for female patrons, they were supposed to rarely ever step foot inside!
