The tension with Ruri Hosokawa seemed to have escalated even further. This was only Quillan’s first day of school, and he had already managed to offend the daughter of the board chairman...

By the time Miyuki Sakurai walked over to find Quillan, Ruri had already spat out a final threat and stormed off toward the faculty office building.

Needless to say, Ruri was undoubtedly heading off to find her mother—the school’s board chairman!

However, Quillan wasn’t particularly worried. He knew Ruri had no concrete evidence, and if she ran over to complain like that, the chairman wouldn’t kick him out based solely on her daughter’s word. At most, he might receive a warning.

To Quillan’s surprise, when the first class of the afternoon ended, nothing had happened to him at all. On the contrary, Ruri—who had returned after complaining to the chairman—spent the rest of the day looking completely gloomy, her face as dark as if someone owed her a fortune and refused to pay it back!

"Ruri-chan, what’s wrong?"

Quillan had excellent hearing and overheard the girl sitting in the front row asking Ruri in a very cautious tone.

Ruri glanced back, and seeing Quillan resting his head on his desk, assumed he was fast asleep. Only then did she clench her delicate fists, pouting unhappily as she whispered to the girl beside her, "Haruka-chan, it’s all because of that perverted megalomaniac..."

Ruri shot a glare toward Quillan, making it abundantly clear which "perverted megalomaniac" she meant. Hearing this, Kujou Otoma, who sat beside her, couldn’t help but sigh in frustration. "Ruri-chan, are you saying the board chairman didn’t believe you, and instead thought you were just being naughty and refusing to welcome a male student? That... that’s so unbelievable!"

"Hmph! That old woman—I really wonder if I’m even her biological daughter!" Ruri muttered. It was clear the mother-daughter relationship between her and the chairman wasn’t particularly warm.

Otherwise, why would the chairman disbelieve her own daughter and assume Ruri was simply being unruly, rude, and unable to get along with her classmates?

Hearing this conversation, Quillan felt completely relieved. It seemed this little storm had officially passed!

Evidently, Ruri’s usual spoiled, tsundere personality played a big part in how the chairman perceived her!

Quillan was no stranger to spoiled rich girls like Ruri. The one who had left the deepest impression on him was naturally Victoria Quinn, who was insufferably arrogant just because she was the cherished princess of the Quinn family...

Afterward, Ruri lowered her voice significantly, and Quillan couldn’t hear every detail. But through the fragments, he gathered she was still talking about finding ways to kick him out of Saint Sakura High, along with brainstorming a few petty schemes...

Quillan didn’t pay it any mind, continuing to rest his head on the desk until the final bell rang.

Meanwhile, his desk mate, Miyuki Sakurai, was diligently taking notes. When the dismissal bell sounded, everyone began packing up their bags. Miyuki looked over at Quillan, her face flushing slightly as she asked, "Quillan, school is over! It seems... we live in the same direction. How about... how about we walk back together?"

"Sure!"

When it came to this cute, adorable girl, Quillan couldn’t bring himself to feel any aversion at all, so he readily agreed.

The two left the classroom together. On the way out, Miyuki tilted her head and talked continuously. Young girls always loved dreaming about the future, and Miyuki lowered her guard completely around Quillan. She said expectantly, "Class ends at four in the afternoon, which leaves at least several hours in the evening for a part-time job! I’m really looking forward to it. What about you, Quillan?"

No matter what she talked about, she always ended with a question for Quillan.

"Me..." Quillan pondered for a moment. He couldn’t contact his family right now; otherwise, with Victoria Quinn’s crafty methods, she would easily coax his whereabouts out of his parents. That meant Quillan had to rely entirely on himself in Japan. Gavin had mentioned to him before that Japanese students could work part-time to earn money. While it wasn’t the most glamorous option, it was currently his only way to make a living. So, Quillan told Miyuki, "I was thinking the same thing. I plan to work at the Moe Jam Café, not far from the school..."

"Is it the café on the next street over?"

After stepping out of the school gates, Miyuki pointed toward a bustling street nearby and let out a soft laugh. "That place isn’t far from the restaurant where I plan to work!"

"Is that so?" Quillan smiled too as they prepared to cross the street while chatting.

Just then, they ran straight into someone. Both Quillan and Miyuki knew her well—she was none other than their homeroom teacher, Norika Harada!

Seeing Norika, Quillan slapped his own forehead. Because of his misunderstanding with Ruri earlier that afternoon, he had completely forgotten about the favor Norika had asked of him. Now, seeing Norika’s deeply aggrieved expression, it all clicked back into place instantly! 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

"Hello, Harada-san!" Miyuki hurriedly bowed and greeted Norika. As a well-behaved student, she naturally felt a bit tense around teachers.

"Hello, Miyuki!" Norika responded with a warm smile. People in Japan attached great importance to such polite greetings. After acknowledging Miyuki, Norika turned to wait for Quillan, but Quillan wasn’t about to give her a pleased look.

Being dragged into acting as the fiancé of someone several years older than him was hardly something Quillan was eager to do. However, since Norika held an audio recording of him admitting he had seen her naked, he had no choice but to go along with it.

Seeing Norika and Quillan staring at each other, Miyuki mistakenly thought Quillan had gotten on Norika’s bad side. Trying to be clever, she pulled Quillan along while offering an apology to Norika: "Harada-san, um... Quillan and I happen to be going the same way, so we’re head home together. Goodbye!"

Norika’s face went completely dark. She had come here specifically to wait for Quillan because she had agreed to let him stay at her place for one night in exchange for him posing as her boyfriend—yet now Quillan was being whisked away by Miyuki!

It’s only his first day of school, and he’s already getting this close with female classmates?!

In Norika’s mind, Quillan had officially been stamped with the label of a playboy wolf!

Fortunately, Quillan didn’t just walk off without saying a word. Since he genuinely had nowhere to stay tonight, he quickly raised his voice to remind her, "Harada-san, I’m so sorry! All my luggage is still at the hotel, so I need to head over there first. Miyuki’s house happens to be quite close to that area..."

On the surface, it sounded like Quillan was explaining why he was leaving with Miyuki. In reality, he was discreetly dropping a hint for Norika to go wait for him near the hotel!

Heh, a gorgeous teacher who’s single—if there’s a bargain to be made, why not take advantage of it?
