My Dream Connects to 3000 Years in the Future

Chapter 474: The First Secretary-General of the United Government: Chu Bamboo

Chu Bamboo’s expression gradually grew stern. Countless thoughts flashed through his mind. He took a deep breath and said, “Nuwa No. 17, pull up the news from every century… I want to see the major, widely known stories—the ones that had a massive impact on the course of human civilization!”

This was a conclusion Chu Bamboo had drawn from past experience. ‘Without a doubt, this ‘pollution’ must be suppressed. Whether the authorities have enough power to actually do so is one thing… but that has to be their official stance!’

‘In that case, anything that passes the official review and is broadcast to the public… must not be too heavily ‘polluted’!’

‘But at the same time, this kind of future, public-facing news should contain a wealth of information.’

The light screen flickered, and the information on it changed drastically.

Chu Bamboo glanced at it, then swiped his finger to the next entry.

In the 21st century, the biggest news revolved around Genetic Modification… and Chu Bamboo’s disappearance.

In the 22nd century, the biggest news was that the world had inexplicably descended into chaos, causing the death rate to soar. The Federation Government transformed into a totalitarian military regime, using unimaginably harsh methods to monitor, and even control, every aspect of its citizens’ lives.

Several resistance forces even emerged. The most famous one… fought under Chu Bamboo’s name.

“Huh?” A sudden realization dawned on him, and Chu Bamboo belatedly added, “Lay out my life story for me… and my specific accomplishments!”

After a brief silence, Nuwa No. 17 coldly recited, “Name: Chu Bamboo. Date of Death: ??? Major Accomplishments: Initiator of the First Genetic Revolution, key figure and mentor in the Second Genetic Revolution, initiator of the Fourth Industrial-Intelligence Revolution, and trailblazer for the Fifth and Sixth Industrial-Intelligence Revolutions. Works: *Star Sea*, *Star Sea Detailed Explanation* Previous Position: First Secretary-General of the United Government! Overall Character Evaluation: An individual who, through sheer force of charisma, convinced the nations of the world to set aside their past grievances and willingly unite, all without a single war. Popular Aliases: Philosopher King, Divine Land Succubus, Eternal Emperor, Shen Zhou Culture Promotion Envoy, Living Saint…”

“???” Chu Bamboo’s expression was a sight to behold. ‘What the hell do they mean, “convinced the nations of the world to willingly form the United Government through sheer force of charisma”?!’

‘Oh, this is bad. I’ve stumbled into some B-list sci-fi movie!’

Chu Bamboo forced himself to calm down. He swiped across the light screen, searching for related information, and gradually, a realization dawned on him.

He was on some kind of global historical figure rating platform, and he, Chu Bamboo, was undoubtedly rated a perfect score. The comments below were mostly a stream of sycophantic praise, though there were a few more rational takes mixed in.

“Don’t get me wrong, I have immense respect for Secretary Chu! But I still think… there are a lot of secrets surrounding him! To this day, I still can’t fathom how he managed to persuade every country to cooperate without a war, just through his powerful charisma! Seriously, guys… we take the United Government for granted, looking back from the future. But if you look at human history, this is *not* normal! Especially for that time period, it’s practically the stuff of legends.”

“Truth is always stranger than fiction! I once saw *Wandering Earth*… there’s a common take on that movie that the most sci-fi part isn’t all the crazy technology, but the fact that humanity actually managed to unite! And now, it really happened… HAHAHAHA.”

“The younger generation thinks us old-timers are crazy for even questioning it… I think I’m starting to understand how the new and old generations must have felt back when Emperor Qin Shi Huang unified the Warring States… The older generation must have found it absolutely unbelievable! Hahaha.”

“??? I admire Mr. Chu as much as anyone, but saying it’s ‘unfathomable’ is a bit of an exaggeration! I’m not trying to downplay his achievement… but before the United Government was established, the old world had just gone through several world wars… And before becoming the first Secretary-General, Mr. Chu had already served as Chairman, CEO, and the largest shareholder of the two mega-corporations, C and Z! Even if he hadn’t become Secretary-General, he was already one of the top five most powerful people in the world! So I think it’s perfectly understandable…”

“Let’s be real, even if Mr. Chu had enough military power to steamroll the entire planet, there’s no way all his enemies would just surrender without a fight. That’s just ridiculous.”

But the comment that stood out most to Chu Bamboo… was one that was extremely polarizing.

“For a second there, I was even wondering if the Secretary-General had one of those… you know… from those kinds of adult novels… get it? Except he didn’t use it on women. He used it on the world leaders! And that’s how he achieved world peace.”

Below that comment was a flood of replies. Some were hysterical tirades, accusing the poster of desecrating Chu Bamboo’s name. Others were from lecherous old-timers who clearly got the reference. And then there were the reasoned, evidence-based arguments from people trying to suppress their fury.

However, Chu Bamboo himself had a faint guess as to a certain possibility. His own absurd Divine Technique came to mind, and he silently wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

‘Wait, you can use it like *that*?!’

‘But if I really used the Third Divine Power to “share” my memories with a bunch of powerful people who’d had their minds wiped, and maybe even “shared” them with some of the entities in Golden Dawn… turning them into something like my avatars or Clones… just how many people would that have been? With that many, wasn’t there a risk of the secret getting out?’

Chu Bamboo took a deep breath. ‘Unifying the world isn’t something that can be achieved by convincing one or two people… You’d need thousands, at least, right? This…’

‘Wait, it’s possible to only implant partial memories, right? If so, maybe the information about dream-traversal and the like wasn’t part of the package… Hmm!’ He thought back to the diary; there was nothing about this in it. ‘No, wait!’

‘It must have been deleted.’ A grim expression crossed Chu Bamboo’s face. ‘The only question is whether my good brother deleted it, or someone else…’

‘It probably wasn’t him, was it? As long as no secrets were leaked, it shouldn’t have been that sensitive… Lin Xin Bamboo? Or could it be that the part my good brother wrote just happened to contain ‘pollution’…’ Chu Bamboo was completely stumped.

But no matter how he looked at it…

“…I guess I’ve become a Saint now,” Chu Bamboo muttered to himself. In this timeline, his status was off the charts.

‘The first Secretary-General of the United Government! And just being Secretary-General is one thing… but a Secretary-General who could peacefully unify the entire world? That’s just a whole other level of absurd!’
