My Dream Connects to 3000 Years in the Future
Chapter 475: God Is Still Not Dead
‘I wonder how many people my good brother has Rewritten with his own memories. Being able to perfectly control them… in this world line, I’m afraid his word is truly law…’
‘Even if it’s all under the guise of a federation, that’s likely just to appease the various regions… In reality, the degree of centralized power is probably even greater than that of an ancient Emperor!’
Chu Bamboo scrolled back through the Nuwa records and continued to watch. Soon, a look of astonishment appeared on his face.
There was nothing much to say about the 22nd century. A glance at the logs made it clear that while there was chaos, the United Government still had control of the overall situation, keeping everything firmly stable.
In the 23rd century, the United Government basically began to loosen its grip, which ushered in an era of great prosperity.
This period of brilliance lasted for an unprecedentedly long time… as if it had completely ignored the “three-hundred-year cycle” curse that plagued ancient feudal dynasties!
And then…
Just when humanity was at its most arrogant, things took a sharp downturn… Chaos, war, slaughter…
And…
“In the 28th century, Dr. X launched the infamous great Golden Dawn rebellion!”
“Golden Dawn, an organization that was supposedly buried in history, completely wiped out by the first Secretary-General! It had actually been revived. Although countless researchers on the matter unanimously agreed that this was just a later terrorist organization forcibly using the name! But without a doubt, this rebellion swept up a huge population and forcibly corrupted a large number of Genetic Modifiers… Even a significant number of high-ranking United Government officials chose to defect to Dr. X. Venus and Jupiter, two planets where the populace had long felt exploited by Earth, also broke away from the United Government’s control during this war! This utter chaos nearly paralyzed the United Government’s control over the grassroots level, making it impossible to mobilize its full strength to eliminate the corruption, and at the same time, unable to destroy the newly emerged Ten Thousand Races… As a result, the enemy’s power grew to its full potential! Human civilization went from its peak into decline!”
Chu Bamboo’s gaze sharpened. ‘Is this how Lin Xin Bamboo died?’
‘Golden Dawn, it’s Golden Dawn again!’
‘…So it was completely wiped out, yet it grew back?’ Chu Bamboo began to wonder if his good brother’s methods hadn’t been harsh enough. But he quickly realized there was another possibility…
‘A Memory Divine Power User from the Outer Cosmos!’ Chu Bamboo’s breath caught for a moment as he recalled the Dr. T that Lin Xin Bamboo had mentioned before. Both were identified by a single letter; it was hard to believe the two were unrelated! Especially considering Dr. T was the leader of the Cold-blooded Faction.
‘On top of that, they swept up a large number of high-ranking United Government officials! Were those people also subjected to memory implantation…? If it’s really as I suspect, just how long has the other side been scheming?’
Chu Bamboo gave a bitter smile, especially as he started to think about the outside world right now.
‘This era… if my luck is bad enough, there could be a whole bunch of sleeper agents from Outer Civilizations lurking around! And they’re probably in high-ranking positions.’
“Forget it!” Chu Bamboo shook his head, a sense of indifference washing over him. ‘So what if the worst happens and I die? It doesn’t matter how many times I fail along the way. I only need to win once!’
Chu Bamboo scrolled again, his expression freezing. He was astonished to find that vast swaths of the following information were either redacted… or met with “The information you are trying to query does not exist.”
It wasn’t until the fourth millennium that the information became a little clearer! But—
“In the 41st century, God descended! He ended the thirteen-century-long Era of Chaos.
“Upon His descent, He unified Earth, then launched a great expedition, pushing to the furthest fringes that human civilization could reach! He brought about the return of humanity’s golden age.”
“What the hell?” The corner of Chu Bamboo’s eye twitched. He felt like he had a retort stuck in his throat with nowhere to spit it. This all felt way too familiar… In the end, he felt the most likely explanation for this situation was that this “God” was also a Hammer-bro. Of course, it could also be a pure coincidence! Who knew?
Shaking his head, Chu Bamboo calmed himself and quietly stared at the words, his mind churning. ‘The 41st century! Is that a thousand years from now?’
Chu Bamboo roughly figured out the logic.
For this millennium, in this world line, Chu Bamboo didn’t know the details for the time being. However, in the previous Daqian World Line… it should have first experienced the Celestial Court Era, then the Dark Era after the Celestial Court’s collapse, followed by the Chu Dynasty founded by King Wen of Chu, then the Che Dynasty, and finally, the Qian Dynasty.
Chu Bamboo scrolled again and found there wasn’t much else to say. The 41st century was generally about unification and expeditions!
But the 42nd century was a period of absolute human prosperity, spent singing the praises of God!
This continued until the 43rd century, when God’s voice disappeared. The gods began to walk the earth!
“…” Chu Bamboo’s brows gradually knitted together. “Nuwa No. 17, was the last place God went to Mars?”
“Yes, God still resides on Mars at present!” Nuwa No. 17’s voice was level.
“…I see. Huh?!” Chu Bamboo suddenly realized something was wrong. His pupils contracted as a storm raged in his heart. “Nuwa No. 17, is God still alive right now?”
“According to currently known information, there is no conclusive evidence that God has died!” Nuwa No. 17’s voice was as monotonous as ever.
“…Is it possible that God is dead, but the gods are concealing it?” Chu Bamboo asked with a serious expression.
“According to the information left behind in the mainframe’s last backup, there is no content related to this matter!”
“…I see!” Chu Bamboo was lost in thought. ‘So, either even Nuwa is part of the cover-up of God’s death, or God is truly still alive right now.’
At that moment, a hint of excitement bubbled up inside Chu Bamboo. “Nuwa No. 17, is there any way… to contact God?”
“According to the doctrines of the National God-Worshiping Church, the voice of every person who prays devoutly to God will reach God’s ears!”
“Every soul that passes on, as long as they have not transformed into an Alien Race or one of the Ten Thousand Races, and as long as they voluntarily go to a God Worship Sect church for harmless processing when on the verge of losing control! Their souls will then return to the bosom of God.”
Chu Bamboo: “…”
‘Oh no!’
Cold sweat broke out on Chu Bamboo’s forehead as he instantly realized…
‘Why is the outside world still running on this kind of feudalistic, religious system?!’
‘Originally, Chu Bamboo thought that even if the outside world wasn’t in an era of great prosperity like when the United Government loosened its grip, at worst it would be something like the military government of the 22nd century, right?’
But from the sound of it…
‘Don’t tell me the outside is just a super-sized Daqian!’
“…Excuse me, what is Daqian?” a voice, tinged with a hint of interest, suddenly sounded out.
Chu Bamboo inexplicably felt a subconscious urge to answer, but a brilliant golden light flashed in his mind. His expression froze. ‘Is this a Mental Interference Ability?’
Then, Chu Bamboo’s expression returned to normal. Just as he was about to make something up, he heard the voice again. But this time, it was laced with a chilling coldness, severity, a trace of resentment, even killing intent and madness.
“How do you have that old Monk’s… No, you’ve betrayed me! You are no longer my Crown Prince, my Saint… To think that old Monk would be willing to go so far! Heh heh… As you are now, you have violated the taboos of the Empire… But it doesn’t matter, I will forgive you this once! Go to sleep peacefully…”
“???” Chu Bamboo was dumbfounded. He whipped his head around, but before he could even see what was behind him, he felt as if he were soaking in a hot spring, an indescribable sense of comfort washing over him.
In the next instant, however, time began to reverse.
