My Ex-Husband Always Knew That I Had Cheated on Him
Chapter 446 - 420: He Actually Did It for Her... (2)
There are many plants planted on both sides of the road
These plants are mostly not precious, just common ones like night-blooming jasmine, orchids, poppies.
There are even some green onions and vegetables.
But walking inside gives a sense of tranquility.
The alley is very long, and at the end is a pancake shop.
Alan brought her to the pancake shop at the deepest part of the alley.
"Here?" Chloe was very surprised.
"If you don’t want to eat here, I can also..."
Alan was a bit awkward.
In a way, he resembled a somewhat insecure child inviting a good friend over.
"It’s fine, this place is great." Chloe smiled, interrupting him, casually grabbed a stool and sat down.
The person making pancakes and dough in the shop is an elderly man, seemingly in his seventies.
His hair had turned gray, but the movements he made when making pancakes were familiar and strong.
Grandpa Morgan greeted Alan warmly as he arrived.
"Alan, you’re here."
"Mm."
"After you returned to the country, you almost came here every day, why haven’t you been around for more than half a month?"
"I’ve been away for some matters."
"Oh, is this your new girlfriend? The young girl is very pretty. You two really match well, a talented man and a beautiful woman. Hurry up and get married."
Alan chatted casually with Grandpa Morgan, while Chloe sat there quietly watching the deep and long alley.
Suddenly, she felt exceptionally calm.
Since Mom left, Chloe hadn’t felt so relaxed and peaceful in a very long time.
"Grandpa Morgan, please don’t tease me, we’re not even a couple yet."
"Oh, you’re not? Then you must be pursuing her, keep it up."
Alan shook his head helplessly when he heard this, glanced at Grandpa Morgan, then came over to explain to Chloe.
"This is Grandpa Morgan. I used to come to this pancake shop with Mom a lot when I was young. He misunderstood, I and you..."
Alan didn’t know if it was due to nervousness or something else, but he was inexplicably stammering.
"It’s okay. No need to explain so much, Alan," Chloe casually pulled out a pair of chopsticks and said.
Seeing Chloe was not bothered at all, Alan decided not to explain further.
Not sure if it was the strong sense of life here, or the elderly pancake maker’s kindness, or perhaps simply that Chloe hadn’t relaxed like this in ages.
She and Alan ended up sitting in that pancake shop for an entire day.
Eating from lunch through to dinner, during which they talked a lot.
Grandpa Morgan made pancakes, stir-fried some vegetables, and finally brought out his homemade wine.
The three of them sat in front of the shop, eating pancakes, vegetables, and drinking wine.
Dusk gradually settled, and the crescent moon appeared.
The breeze was warm, blowing gently one after another.
The October weather, the golden autumn, could be said to be the best season of the year.
Sipping on the wine, feeling a bit tipsy, and slightly dizzy.
The elderly man shared stories from his youthful days.
Chloe and Alan listened by his side.
Speaking of young love, the old man recounted pursuing the old lady.
Alan suddenly glanced at Chloe.
Many years have passed, yet due to issues with Mom, a barrier had been in his heart all along.
Not wanting to step into marriage, engage in romance, not wanting to have a girlfriend.
It wasn’t because he was hurt by Mom’s issues.
But because Mom protected him well, he didn’t want any woman he loved deeply to face such things.
Just like his father Soren Johnson, and Lorelei.
Even though they had a business marriage, their relationship was good, respecting each other.
But later on, they met true love; despite their efforts to restrain, an accident still happened.
So life is indeed long, and you never know what awaits tomorrow.
Alan envisioned another woman enduring similar suffering as his mom did, or another child facing the same fate as him.
He honestly preferred never stepping into marriage this lifetime.
But tonight, whether due to drinking too much wine or deeply reminiscing about Mom and the past.
He longed for a home of his own too much.
Alan looked at Chloe, leaning on her hand, head tilted, listening to Grandpa Morgan’s storytelling, and suddenly really wanted a home.
Just have someone quietly accompany him to listen to Grandpa’s stories, and someday have a child running beside them, calling, laughing, and playing.
