Chapter 447 - 420: He Actually Did It for Her... (Part 3)

As she thought about it, the corners of her mouth involuntarily turned up.

Chloe Simpson was still listening intently to Grandpa Morgan’s storytelling.

Grandpa Morgan was still immersed in the love he shared with Grandma Miller when they were young.

No one noticed that Alan Johnson had been staring blankly at Chloe, at her uplifted corners of the mouth.

These moments were truly wonderful and relaxing.

Alan Johnson thought, if only they could stay in this moment forever.

But beautiful moments are always too short.

Listening to the story, Chloe soon felt sleepy.

She glanced at the time on her phone, and unknowingly, it was already midnight.

"It’s almost 12 o’clock, it’s so late, we should go home, and you should sleep too, Grandpa Morgan."

Chloe reminded.

"Oh, it’s 12 already. I’m really sorry, Alan, Chloe, for keeping you two with me, an old man, talking so long."

Grandpa Morgan quickly packed his things, ready to close up and go home to sleep.

"Not at all, Grandpa Morgan, it’s been a long time since I’ve felt this relaxed and happy. It’s getting late, have a good night’s sleep, I’ll visit you another day."

Alan Johnson helped tidy up, bid farewell, and left with Chloe.

The two walked step by step towards the alleyway’s exit.

Perhaps tonight’s scenery was simply too beautiful, or the atmosphere too relaxed.

Or perhaps the sun was just right, just a bit tipsy, the pastries delicious, the home-made dishes appetizing, everything was so warm and relaxing.

Chloe and Alan Johnson unconsciously slowed their steps, neither wanting to walk a bit faster.

It seemed they both wanted to linger in the alley a while longer.

Though it was only a 10-minute walk, they made it last half an hour.

But no matter how much they didn’t want to leave, the alley was only that long, and they eventually reached the end.

At the alley’s exit, Alan Johnson was a bit reluctant: "I’ll walk you home."

"No need, you’ve had a drink too, I’ll just call a car to go home." Chloe politely declined.

"I’ll call a driving service; we can walk over here, and they’ll take you home first, then drop me off."

Alan Johnson inexplicably wanted to spend more time with Chloe and picked up his phone to call the service.

Right after he made the call, a commotion was heard not far away.

A group of burly drunkards, after drinking, started walking towards the alleyway’s entrance.

Alan Johnson instinctively shielded Chloe behind him.

But the drunk men still stumbled their way over.

"What’s with the guarding? What? Is your woman that good-looking? Let me have a look."

One man with dyed blond hair swaggered over, easily pushing Alan Johnson aside, clearly an unsavory character.

"Be sensible, get lost."

Alan Johnson blocked Chloe once more.

"Whoa, this is the first time someone’s told me to be sensible and get lost. Hey guys, did you hear that?"

Blondie taunted with a bellyful of swagger.

The group of rabble-rousers standing by laughed along.

"Hahaha, of course we heard, Leo, this guy must have a death wish."

"Daring to tell my Leo to get lost, kid, do you know when my Leo was playing with knives, you were still playing with mud?"

"Yeah, my Leo has been playing with knives since he was young, he’s a knife maker! Just step aside, it’s just a woman, brothers are like limbs, women like clothes, lose one, find another."

"Go, go, go! Take the money and scram!"

After those troublemakers spoke, Leo arrogantly pulled out a stack of money from his bag and threw it in Alan Johnson’s face.

"Do you know who I am?"

Alan Johnson smiled, glancing at the money stack.

They dared to throw money at him?

"Damn it, I don’t care who you are, even the king of heaven detours around me! Move aside!"

The blond man named Leo reached out and directly pushed Alan Johnson: "Guys, get that woman for me."

At Leo’s command, several men pinned Chloe against the wall.

"You’re asking for death!"

Without hesitation, Alan Johnson rushed forward to fight back.

But no one had anticipated that Blondie, truly as those men claimed, had been playing with knives since young.

Moreover, he had just been released from prison for murder.

His skills were exceptionally good.

In no time, Blondie pinned Alan Johnson to the ground.

Then, stepping on Alan Johnson, with a "rip," he tore Chloe’s clothes.
