My Glitched World Throne System Came Ten Years Too Early!
Chapter 156: Fighting Aldric?!
The sound of heavy footsteps echoed across the grasslands.
Baron Aldric Deres sped towards the city walls, his expression colder than ever.
Beside him were Baldwin and Barressa, followed by dozens of knights.
Each of them ranged between the first and second seals, and together, they accounted for nearly eighty percent of the knights in his army.
’’I’ll take that little swine,’’ Baldwin suddenly spoke.
His gaze was locked onto a certain young man wielding two azure blades.
The death of the mage was still fresh in his mind.
He had no intention of letting the bastard responsible get away with it.
However, Aldric immediately glanced to the side, his eyes narrowing coldly.
’’He’s mine,’’ he said. ’’That bastard has my son.’’
Baldwin frowned.
For a moment, he wanted to object.
However, upon seeing Aldric’s seething anger, he decided against it.
Instead, his gaze flickered back to the wall and locked onto another figure.
’’Understood,’’ he replied shortly. ’’Then Arthur is mine.’’
’’Tch!’’
Barressa scoffed loudly.
’’So I’m left to deal with the runt?’’ he complained. ’’That’s bullshit!’’
Unfortunately, neither Aldric nor Baldwin was in the mood to entertain his complaints.
The two continued toward the walls without responding.
Barressa rolled his eyes, completely unbothered.
A cruel grin spread across his face as his attention shifted to Captain Harris.
’’At least I get to kill a three-seal knight,’’ he muttered. ’’Another sword to add to my collection.’’
...
SHHK!
Another soldier collapsed onto the bloodstained wall.
Roderic immediately turned to his next opponent.
Unfortunately, the man had already begun retreating.
In fact, there was an entirely clear circle around him.
’Oh, come on,’ he thought, clicking his tongue. ’Where did all that previous enthusiasm go?’
Just moments ago, these soldiers had been desperately trying to kill him.
Now they were practically throwing themselves at the ordinary Whitemane soldiers to get away from him.
Roderic let out a deep sigh.
’Whatever, let’s just get the task done. I’m sure this siege will be over soon after.’
Just as Roderic lowered himself to chase after the Deres soldiers, he suddenly froze in place.
BWOOOOOO!
A deafening horn suddenly echoed across the battlefield.
Roderic’s eyes narrowed.
’Hm?’
His gaze immediately shifted to the battlefield down below.
Several familiar figures were rapidly approaching the city walls, followed by a large group of knights.
Roderic’s lips slowly pursed.
’Uh, that’s a bit of a problem,’ he thought. ’Guess Arthur was right after all.’
Their gate hadn’t even been broken.
And yet, they were already moving in personally.
’Are they trying to fight us on top of the walls then?’
That was the only way they could avoid getting their ordinary soldiers massacred.
Roderic let out a quiet scoff.
’Well, that’ll be a bit problematic,’ he thought, shaking his head.
As his gaze returned to Aldric, he couldn’t help but notice something else.
The man was staring directly at him.
And his expression was absolutely furious.
’’Ah, for fuck’s sake...’’
Only a moment later, he saw the three knights split up and head in different directions.
Aldric’s speed instantly increased.
He shot forward, heading exactly for... the section of the wall he was standing on.
Roderic raised an eyebrow, cautiously looking on.
’Is he planning to climb up?’
Although three-seal knights had tremendous physical power, the walls were still twenty meters tall.
And with the siege towers destroyed, reaching the top wouldn’t be particularly easy.
At least, that was what Roderic thought.
Suddenly, two familiar voices sounded behind him.
’’Young master!’’
’’We’ve arrived!’’
Roderic turned his head.
Instead of finding Roland and Benjamin, two officers he knew all too well were rapidly approaching.
George and Henry already had their weapons drawn, clearly aware of what was coming.
’’Perfect timing,’’ Roderic said, flashing them a grin. ’’We’ve got a rather troublesome guest on his way.’’
George followed his gaze down below.
His expression immediately changed.
’’Aldric?’’ he said strangely. ’’That’s... unexpected.’’
Henry tightened his grip on his weapon.
’’That wasn’t the plan,’’ he immediately said. ’’We should regroup with the lord and figure ou—’’
Roderic raised his hand.
Then he pointed down below.
’’It’s a bit late for that,’’ he said, still smiling. ’’Besides, I don’t think he’s interested in letting me leave.’’
Before either of them could respond, a loud sound echoed from below.
BOOM!
Aldric launched himself up.
His feet slammed into the wall several meters up.
CRACK!
The stone fractured beneath the impact.
Using the wall as a foothold, Aldric propelled himself towards a wooden support pillar left behind by the destroyed siege tower.
BANG!
The pillar trembled violently.
Before it could collapse, Aldric pushed off once more.
This time, his body soared above the stone wall.
Roderic’s eyes widened slightly.
’Well... that’s one way to do it.’
BOOOOM!
Aldric landed directly in front of them.
The impact shattered several stones beneath his boots, sending dust and debris flying in every direction.
For a brief moment, the surrounding battlefield seemed to fall silent.
Several nearby Deres soldiers stared at their commander in disbelief.
The Whitemane soldiers instinctively backed away, knowing they would be nothing more than sheep awaiting slaughter if they got caught in the fight.
Aldric slowly straightened his back.
His gaze never left Roderic.
’’You,’’ he said coldly.
Roderic immediately glanced at George and Henry.
’See? Told you he was coming for me,’ he mouthed silently as he gestured towards Aldric.
Neither of them laughed.
Hell, they barely even looked at him.
Aldric took a step forward.
’’Where is my son?’’ he asked, his voice somehow even colder.
A wide smile appeared on Roderic’s face.
’’Oh, he’s doing wonderfully,’’ he replied. ’’Lovely accommodations, excellent security.’’
He paused for a moment.
’’Though I doubt even you could pry open the gates of hell to visit him.’’
A vein bulged on Aldric’s forehead.
His face instantly turned a bright red color.
’’You,’’ he started, raising his sword. ’’You killed my son?’’
Roderic tilted his head.
He pointed at himself as he let out a loud chuckle.
’’Me? No, no, no,’’ he said, shaking his head. ’’I merely cut off his arms and legs. Bleeding to death was entirely his own decision.’’
Pausing once more, a contemplative look appeared on his face.
’’Mhm, although I suppose that technically makes me his killer.’’
WHOOOOOSH!
Aldric’s aura suddenly erupted.
An oppressive pressure instantly swept across the wall.
’’YOU!’’ Aldric shouted, his voice filled with pain and fury. ’’I’LL KILL YOU!’’
