Damian opened his eyes and found himself standing in the desolate lands of the Abyss.

The familiar expanse stretched endlessly before him, its barren ground devoid of life. The Abyssal Tree stood firmly at the centre of the wasteland, its enormous black trunk extending into a colourless sky. Behind it stood the wall of dead trees, their twisted branches reaching upwards like the skeletal fingers of countless dead things.

And above them all, the Abyss’s crimson eye stared intently at him.

"Absorbing the remnants of Majin’s power has saved you decades of cultivation," the Abyss said. Its voice reverberated through the desolate lands, neither loud nor quiet. "That, coupled with your access to God veins and a God-realm wife, means you are much closer to the God realm than you are aware of."

Damian’s eyebrows rose.

He had expected some benefits from absorbing Majin’s remnants, especially after receiving the four hundred Abyssal Points. However, saving decades of cultivation was a different matter entirely.

His progress had already accelerated considerably during the past month, thanks to his access to God vein crystals. Elsa’s presence had also proved useful, especially due to their intimate encounters.

Still, he had not expected his advancement to be this substantial.

"So, how many years will it take me to reach the God realm if I can get my hands on an unlimited supply of God veins?"

"Six to seven years," the Abyss answered immediately.

Damian fell silent.

He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, calculating what that meant for his plans. That meant his progress in the past month had taken off three to four years out of the ten year plan.

It was a major gain.

"Not bad," Damian muttered.

His gaze shifted towards the luminous panel floating beside him.

[Abyssal Points: 400]

[Talent Points: 250]

[Abyss Talent Tree Rejuvenation Process: 35%]

[Living Arts: 20%]

[Primal Soul: 30%]

[Elder Arts: 30%]

Damian studied the figures with growing satisfaction.

Initially, he had only fifty Talent Points remaining after his first upgrade. The subsequent month of cultivation had changed that considerably. The energy he absorbed from the God veins, combined with the benefits of his constant cultivation and intimate encounters with Elsa, had contributed to his progress. Then there was the energy he had drained from Duke Zepar before killing him.

All of it had accumulated into two hundred additional Talent Points. He now possessed enough to make a meaningful investment in his Abyssal inheritance.

Naturally, he had no intention of wasting them.

His eyes settled on Elder Arts. He had made a promise to a certain dead Demon Lord.

Damian raised his hand.

"Let’s see what you have for me."

He began investing his Talent Points.

Ten. Twenty. Thirty. Forty. Fifty.

The luminous panel flickered as the points disappeared. Damian continued without hesitation, watching the counter descend until he had invested a total of one hundred points into Elder Arts.

The moment the final points were consumed, a new notification appeared before him.

[Name: Sunder]

[Type: Split & Slash]

[Description: Unleashes a mid-range barrage of endless Abyssal slashes that eradicates everything within a four-hundred-metre radius ahead of you. Even flies cannot escape unscathed. Wounds inflicted by this ability carry Abyssal Scars.]

Damian raised an eyebrow.

He read the description once, then again.

A four-hundred-metre radius was hardly insignificant. Depending on how the ability operated, he could potentially erase an entire formation of soldiers with a single activation. Against ordinary demons, the result would be catastrophic. Even powerful opponents might struggle if the slashes were fast enough and numerous enough to overwhelm their defences.

But it was the final line that caught his attention.

Abyssal Scars.

Damian leaned closer to the panel, as though doing so would reveal additional information.

"What the hell is an Abyssal Scar?"

He waited by nothing happened. The crimson eye continued staring at him from above the dead trees, offering no explanation whatsoever.

Damian’s mouth twitched.

"Of course. You give me an ability with a mysterious effect and expect me to figure it out myself."

The Abyss remained silent.

He had not expected much in the way of customer service, but a little clarification would have been appreciated. After all, he was investing his points into its inheritance. The least it could do was explain what its abilities actually did.

Unfortunately, complaining would not recover his points. Damian sighed and returned his attention to the talent tree.

His gaze settled on the remaining portion of Elder Arts.

"Let’s try again."

He resumed his investment.

Ten. Twenty. Thirty. Forty. Fifty. Sixty. Seventy. Eighty. Ninety. One hundred.

The panel flickered once more.

[Name: Sever]

[Type: Obliterate / Eradicate]

[Description: Unleashes a 360-degree barrage of endless Abyssal slashes that attacks everything and anything around you, except yourself and those you wish to protect. Wounds inflicted by this skill carry Abyssal Scars.]

Damian stared at the description.

Then he slowly turned his head towards the surrounding wasteland.

Sunder attacked everything within a four-hundred-metre radius ahead of him. Sever, on the other hand, covered every direction around him while sparing those he chose to protect.

The distinction was simple, but useful.

If he were surrounded by an army, Sever would allow him to eliminate the entire formation without worrying about enemies approaching from behind.

More importantly, the ability appeared to distinguish between those he intended to harm and those he wished to spare. That level of control would be invaluable when fighting alongside Elsa or his subordinates.

Damian’s expression brightened slightly. At least the Abyss understood the importance of practical combat abilities.

Then he glanced at his remaining points. Two hundred Talent Points were gone. He had only invested in Elder Arts, and he still had not found what he came here for.

Damian’s expression darkened.

"The skills are good and all that, but honestly, I’ve spent two hundred points already, and I still haven’t unlocked the skill I need to resurrect Majin."

He folded his arms.

Talent Points were becoming increasingly difficult to acquire. If he continued spending at this rate, he would soon find himself with nothing left to invest in his Living Arts and Primal Soul.

After several seconds of contemplation, Damian reluctantly raised his hand again.

"Another fifty."

Ten. Twenty. Thirty. Forty. Fifty.

The points vanished, and a new notification appeared.

[Name: Abyssal Rebirth]

[Type: Resurrection]

[Description: Using the Abyssal Seal, you can seal a soul or consciousness into a husk, creating an Abyssal minion. The body chosen for this task must be freshly acquired and no more than one hour dead, or the process will be ineffective.]

For a moment, Damian did not move. He read the description again, making certain he had not misunderstood it.

Then his face lit up.

"Finally!"

He hopped to his feet and punched the air, the gesture so spontaneous that he almost surprised himself. He had spent two hundred and fifty Talent Points, but he had finally acquired the ability he needed.
