Chapter 128: Chapter 109: Meeting Zhu Yan Again, Lihexie Bang, Fusion-Type Cultivation Technique Mixed Element Skill
Looking at the four people not far away, Su Chen was speechless. He let out a light sigh and prepared to leave.
"Gentlemen, let’s talk this out. Everything is negotiable." A familiar voice rang out, causing Su Chen to pause his steps.
One of the robbers glared at the pleading man in the cyan shirt. "Hand over all your money, and we’ll spare your life. But if you try to trick us, humph!"
"Yes, yes, yes, no problem at all," the cyan-shirted man hastily replied.
With a flurry of frantic movements, he dug through his cuffs, his waistband, his shoes, and his inner garments, finally pulling out some silver and presenting it with both hands.
"Are you messing with us?"
Seeing the man fish around in so many hiding spots, the three robbers had harbored high expectations. But when he finally presented his stash, their faces instantly darkened. Damn it! He had dug around for so long just to pull out thirty taels of silver? This was completely outrageous. What a waste of their anticipation!
Hearing their outburst, the cyan-shirted man looked embarrassed. He scratched his head and offered an awkward smile. "Bosses, this really is everything I own."
"You bastard! Who are you trying to fool with this little bit of money?" the head robber bellowed. "I’ll give you one last chance. Take out all the money on you, or don’t blame us for getting rough!"
"But... all my money is truly right here!" The cyan-shirted man looked troubled as he spoke sheepishly.
"Humph, since you want to do things the hard way, then go to hell!" Unwilling to waste any more time, the head robber directly ordered the attack.
Seeing this, the cyan-shirted man’s expression changed drastically. He tried to flee, but he was quickly surrounded by the three men.
Just as the robbers were about to kill him, a piercing sound suddenly tore through the air. A blade-wielding robber was instantly struck through the chest and sent flying backward.
"It’s you, Four Eyebrows!" The head robber recognized Su Chen. His prominent four eyebrows instantly brought back memories of their previous encounter.
"Boss, Three is dead!" At that moment, the remaining robber cried out in terror as he cradled his fallen comrade’s corpse.
Upon hearing this, the dread in the boss’s eyes instantly vanished, replaced by a flash of sheer hatred. However, he knew he was no match for Su Chen. He clasped his hands and said, "We didn’t know this man was your friend. Please forgive our offense. Farewell!"
"Boss, you..." The grieving second robber widened his eyes in disbelief. The boss offered no explanation, only shooting him a warning glare to shut up.
"Halt. Did my sworn brother say you could leave?"
Suddenly, a calm voice spoke up. It came from the cyan-shirted man, though his choice of title for Su Chen instantly made the situation quite intriguing.
"What else do you want?" the boss demanded indignantly. He had already given up on avenging his brother; what more did they want?
Su Chen quickly gave him his answer. Two stones shot forward, cleanly piercing straight through the bodies of the two robbers.
It wasn’t as if he hadn’t noticed the boss’s intense hatred. There was no way he would let them walk away alive.
"Thank you for saving my life, benefactor!" Noticing Su Chen’s gaze on him, the cyan-shirted man jolted and hurriedly bowed in gratitude.
Su Chen withdrew his gaze. He had already confirmed the man’s identity. Those familiar words and the distinct tone he used for "sworn father" and "sworn brother" immediately reminded him of a specific person: Zhu Yan!
To think he would run into Zhu Yan in a place like this—it really made him feel like it was a small world. However, he had no intention of acknowledging the man. The first time they met, he had disguised himself, and now he was wearing a completely different disguise. The other party shouldn’t be able to recognize him.
Ignoring Zhu Yan’s staring, Su Chen proceeded to loot everything of value from the three corpses. He shook his head slightly. The three of them only had around one hundred taels on them, yet they had the nerve to mock Zhu Yan for having so little!
"Are you still not leaving?" Su Chen asked, staring straight ahead without sparing a glance at Zhu Yan, who was quietly watching him from the side.
Zhu Yan didn’t reply, but his eyes grew brighter and brighter. Su Chen’s familiar corpse-looting motions had instantly jogged his memory, reminding him of a certain someone.
Uncertain if it was truly him, he probed tentatively, "Benefactor Tie Niu?"
Su Chen paused. He turned to look at Zhu Yan, a trace of surprise flashing in his eyes. He could actually recognize him from that? His Disguise Technique might not have reached the absolute pinnacle of perfection yet, but it was still masterfully proficient. Even an acquaintance wouldn’t be able to see through it unless they spent a considerable amount of time together. How did this Zhu Yan figure it out?
"It really is Benefactor Tie Niu!" Catching Su Chen’s look of surprise, Zhu Yan became absolutely certain of his identity. His face lit up with joyful surprise. "Benefactor, you went out of your way to save me, so why wouldn’t you reveal your identity? If I hadn’t been so attentive, I truly wouldn’t have noticed."
"How did you find out?" Su Chen’s mouth twitched, indirectly admitting to it.
Zhu Yan chuckled. "Your corpse-looting technique has long been deeply engraved in my mind. The moment I saw you looting them, your heroic bearing immediately surfaced in my head!"
Su Chen was rendered entirely speechless. He couldn’t even begin to imagine what kind of "heroic bearing" could be found in looting a corpse.
"To think that you not only avenged me in the past but have now saved my life once again. This favor is truly impossible to repay. The only thing I can do is..." Zhu Yan sighed with profound emotion, deeply moved.
Su Chen’s eyelid twitched. "Shut up!"
"Alrighty!" Zhu Yan decisively clamped his mouth shut.
Seeing Su Chen walk away, Zhu Yan promptly hurried after him and carefully asked, "Benefactor, what brings you to Dafeng City? Did you come here specifically to look for me?"
He silently scoffed, "You’re truly narcissistic!" but kept the thought to himself. Instead, he asked, "Why are you at the Black Market?"
Zhu Yan was taken aback, offering a bitter smile in response. "I heard there was a Black Market here, so I came to check it out and buy some medicinal herbs. I just didn’t expect to run into this kind of trouble the moment I arrived."
