My Mosquito Clones Are on a Killing Spree
Chapter 122 - 83: Huge Harvest
Chapter 122: Chapter 83: Huge Harvest
The shadow of death clung to its tail!
POP!
It was a soft, barely audible sound.
The Mosquito Avatar passed through the curtain of light by the skin of its teeth, escaping back to the Star Realm.
Even though it was now safe, Lin Yi’s main body was still gasping for breath, his heart pounding like a drum.
The deathly aura from that palm strike, powerful enough to seemingly crush his very soul, lingered like a persistent shadow, leaving him shaken and his limbs ice-cold.
’Damn it! To think there’s a monster like that squatting there, guarding the gate to the Pigman world!’
Lin Yi wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, his voice carrying a faint, almost imperceptible tremor.
He forced himself to calm down and analyze the situation.
On Blue Star’s side, humans had set up artillery formations outside the Star Gate, defending it to the death.
The Pigmen were technologically backward and couldn’t field that kind of torrent of steel, but they obviously weren’t stupid. They had simply posted a terrifyingly powerful expert to block their own door, preventing Martial Artists from the human side from sneaking in to cause trouble...
’The logic is just... too sound!’
’Looks like this buffet... is off the menu for now.’
Lin Yi sighed helplessly, a huge sense of loss washing over him.
He controlled the Mosquito Avatar, having it fly quickly to rendezvous with his main body.
But the image of that three-headed monster was seared into his mind, impossible to shake.
’That thing... is definitely not Fourth Grade or below! It has to be a high-grade! Maybe even higher!’
Lin Yi’s expression was grave.
He carefully reviewed the reasons for his Mosquito Avatar’s discovery.
The [Concealment] skill was indeed powerful, capable of suppressing Demon Qi and providing optical camouflage.
In a place like Yang City, it was practically foolproof.
But it wasn’t invincible!
Scent!
Heat!
And the faint but constant sound of its heartbeat!
These signs of life that the skill couldn’t completely eliminate.
They might be negligible to ordinary people or Low-tier Martial Artists.
But to the ears and noses of those high-grade experts, it was as conspicuous as a lighthouse in the dead of night!
’No wonder I was targeted the moment I went in... In front of a being like that, the Mosquito Avatar’s current stealth is as good as being naked.’
Lin Yi now fully understood the gap in power, and any lingering hope he’d had vanished like smoke.
’The Pigman world... is a no-go zone for now! The Mosquito Avatar is still too weak. Going deep into a place like that is no different from suicide.’
He silently warned himself, suppressing this desire deep down as his gaze became resolute again.
He would have to find another path to grow stronger.
Fortunately, he had managed to collect a good amount of Spirit Medicine from the Star Realm this time.
After selling it, he should have enough resources for the Refinement of his torso’s bones.
Once the Mosquito Avatar rendezvoused with his main body, Lin Yi turned without hesitation and strode toward the Star Gate that connected to Blue Star.
His steps were firm and brisk.
He passed through the deep blue curtain of light that rippled like water.
The familiar scent of Blue Star rushed to greet him.
The one o’clock afternoon sun was a bit dazzling, but it carried a reassuring warmth.
Lin Yi ripped the heavy oxygen mask off his face and greedily took several deep breaths of the crisp, cool winter air.
The air flooded his lungs, washing away the stench of blood and gunpowder he had picked up in the Star Realm.
HUUU...
He stretched his back, which was sore from being tense for so long, and his bones let out a faint crackling sound.
The sunlight bathed him, feeling wonderfully warm.
The war was finally over.
Next, it was time to properly digest this huge harvest, and then...
...go all out with his Cultivation and aim for a higher realm!
Just then, a series of messages came through on Lin Yi’s communicator.
The first to catch his eye was a city-wide announcement officially issued by the Yang City Health Department.
The message was written in a tone of grim, unquestionable authority:
"[Yang City Health Department Urgent Notice]: All residents of Yang City may, starting immediately, register at their district Health Department stations to accept battlefield cleanup tasks! Task content: Transport the corpses of the Pigman monsters outside the city to the designated incineration sites. For every complete corpse cleared and transported, a reward of 100 Huaxia Coins will be issued upon confirmation! I repeat, a reward of 100 Huaxia Coins per corpse!"
Behind the cold text lay the vast and bloody cleanup effort required after the war.
Next were several private messages from Zhou Meng.
Her words were filled with deep worry and relief:
"Master, I’m in my family’s shelter, I’m safe! You don’t have to worry about me!"
"Master, are you okay? The monsters outside were roaring all night, it was so scary!"
"Master, please remember to send me a message to let me know you’re safe when you have a moment!"
The young woman’s concern was like a warm current, slightly dispelling the chill that clung to Lin Yi.
However, the one who had truly spammed him wasn’t Zhou Meng.
It was Luo Qian!
The guy had acted like a madman.
There were over a dozen missed call notifications!
His inbox was overflowing with unread text messages.
The messages ranged from "Lin! Answer me!" to "Are you f*cking alive?!" and finally "If you don’t write back, I’m calling the cops!"...
Each one more frantic than the last.
The Star Realm and Blue Star were, after all, two different planes. The signals couldn’t cross, so it was no wonder Luo Qian was jumping out of his skin with anxiety.
Lin Yi took a deep breath, suppressing the post-battle exhaustion and the disorienting feeling of returning from the Star Realm, and his fingers tapped quickly.
First, he sent a short but reassuring reply to Zhou Meng: "I’m home safe. Don’t worry."
Immediately after, he dialed Luo Qian’s number without hesitation.
The call was answered almost the instant it began to ring.
Luo Qian’s signature booming voice, exaggerated with the relief of a survivor, immediately exploded through the receiver:
"HOLY SHIT! Thank God! Christ almighty! You finally called me back!!"
Luo Qian’s voice was distorted with excitement:
"I called you a dozen times, but it kept saying ’out of service area.’ My heart nearly stopped! With all that commotion last night, I thought you... Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey! What remote corner of the earth did you crawl into?"
Lin Yi didn’t hide anything and said directly:
"I went to the gap between worlds."
"The gap between worlds?" Luo Qian’s voice was filled with confusion and curiosity. "What the hell kind of place is that? The nest of those Pigman bastards from last night?"
"You could say that."
Lin Yi said in a low voice as he walked toward Yang City,
"The invading Pigman monsters aren’t from our Blue Star at all. They’re from an Otherworld! A massive spatial rift opened up between the two worlds, connecting their world to ours."
HISS!!!
Luo Qian’s sharp intake of breath came from the other end of the line, followed by a cry of disbelief,
"Holy moly! A planetary war? A spatial rift? A massive interstellar war scene straight out of a sci-fi movie, and our generation actually gets to experience it? That’s too... too insane!"
Lin Yi could picture Luo Qian on the other end of the line, eyes wide and gesticulating wildly.
"It’s too much to explain over the phone. I’m heading home now, just come over to my place."
"Okay! No problem! Wait for me, I’m on my way! And don’t you go disappearing again!"
Luo Qian spoke at lightning speed, hanging up with a CLACK before his words were even fully out.
Lin Yi put away his communicator, his eyes narrowing slightly.
He was looking for Luo Qian this time because he truly had something important that he needed help with.
The Spirit Medicine he had gathered in that dangerous, Spiritual Qi-rich area of the Star Realm was astonishingly valuable.
The large, glittering bundle of Golden Ray Grass alone was conservatively estimated to be worth over ten million Huaxia Coins!
Adding in the other Spirit Medicines, all with their own unique shapes and shrouded in Spiritual Qi, their total value would come out to a little over ten million as well.
Twenty million...
However.
The problem was...
He was holding a treasure trove but had no channel to quickly liquidate it.
’Sell them myself, bit by bit?’
’First, I can’t afford to waste the time.’
’Second, it would be easy for those shrewd merchants to team up and lowball me, causing me to lose a huge chunk of profit for nothing.’
After thinking it over and over.
He still had to rely on Luo Qian’s family and their shady, yet exceptionally efficient, channels to offload this hot potato as quickly as possible and for a relatively high price.
Having made up his mind, Lin Yi delayed no longer. His figure flashed like lightning as he sped toward Yang City.
