Chapter 372: Advent of the Celestial Tribulation

The room contained only a simple wooden bed, a wooden table, a kettle, and some cups.

"A true Cultivator should live a life just like this," Chu Feng said.

He then sat down on the bed, cross-legged.

In the days that followed, Chu Feng and the old man would spend their days practicing the sword, sparring, or discussing the principles of Cultivation.

Although only a few days had passed, the experience was of enormous help to Chu Feng.

After all, the old man had lived for several hundred years. His experience was naturally far greater than Chu Feng’s, and he offered a wealth of insight on various concepts.

This helped Chu Feng gain a clearer understanding of his own shortcomings and deficiencies.

Chu Feng was in the middle of his usual Cultivation, his eyes closed, when he suddenly felt a disturbance in the air around him.

When he stepped outside, he saw the clouds above the wooden hut churning and gradually turning pitch-black.

At the same time, a sense of dread washed over him, as if a pair of eyes were fixed on him.

It wasn’t just Chu Feng. The birds and all the other living creatures on the island were also in a state of panic, scattering frantically in terror.

Chu Feng walked straight to the edge of the island, and only then did the feeling of dread weaken slightly.

The other creatures, however, dove headfirst into the sea, frantically swimming away from the island.

A Thunder Tribulation was about to descend from the heavens. All the creatures had sensed it, which was why they were so terrified.

But as these creatures plunged into the sea, the ocean’s predators began to stir. All sorts of gigantic fish started to frantically devour them.

Chu Feng stood on the beach, staring at the enormous black cloud in the sky. His heart began to pound, and his eyes filled with shock.

It was the first time he had ever felt the might of a Celestial Tribulation. It was a terrifying pressure that originated from the heavens and the earth, a power so dreadful that any living thing could feel its horror.

Chu Feng was only able to stand there and watch because he was powerful enough to suppress this terrifying pressure.

His very purpose for coming here was to witness this Celestial Tribulation.

Only by seeing it with his own eyes could he truly know the terror of a Celestial Tribulation. When his own time came, he would at least have some experience.

’At least I’ll have some understanding of it, so I won’t have to be afraid.’

’Besides, the insights one can gain at a time like this are far greater and come much faster than usual.’

When a Celestial Tribulation appears, the surrounding Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi is also at its most concentrated.

The black clouds in the sky continued to gather, a process that lasted for about half an hour.

For some unknown reason, the initial gathering was incredibly slow, causing the psychological pressure to build relentlessly.

"Is it because the Spiritual Qi is too sparse? Is that why the Celestial Tribulation hasn’t finished gathering?" Chu Feng muttered, looking doubtfully at the dark clouds overhead.

By now, the dark clouds had amassed into a huge expanse, blanketing almost the entire sky. The oppressive atmosphere was enough to make one’s heart freeze in terror.

The Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect was also watching, his heart filled with both extreme anxiety and nervousness.

’But being nervous now is pointless. I have to face it. I have to at least try.’

’Otherwise, there’s only one outcome: death!’

’Even though facing the Celestial Tribulation will very likely lead to death, there’s still a sliver of hope, however small it may be.’

"I’ve been waiting for you a long time! Come on!" the Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect shouted, his expression grave.

As if it understood his words, the Celestial Tribulation in the sky responded instantly with a tremendous roar.

A bolt of Celestial Thunder seemed to cleave the heavens in two, tearing open a gash in the sky.

An azure Thunderbolt came crashing down.

The crackling electricity, like a ferocious beast, lunged toward the Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect.

The old man wasted no time. He immediately unleashed the ultimate technique of the Cloud Mist Sect. "Cloud Mist Sword Technique!"

With a wave of his hand, the longsword he held instantly conjured countless curtains of light, each formed from condensed sword radiance.

The curtain of sword light shot directly toward the Thunderbolt descending from the sky.

BOOM!

The sound of the explosion rang out, followed by a dazzling flash of light.

However, once the sound of the explosion faded and the light receded, both the curtain of sword light and the Thunderbolt had dissipated.

But for that one instant, it had illuminated the entire world, making it as bright as day.

Anyone who witnessed this scene would have become incredibly grave.

The sight was simply too terrifying—the kind that would make anyone’s blood run cold.

"That’s terrifying!" Chu Feng’s expression also turned grim and incredibly solemn.

He carefully assessed the power he had felt. ’That first Thunderbolt wasn’t too strong. I could have blocked it, too.’

’The real problem is that with each subsequent Thunderbolt, the power will surge exponentially. The later it gets, the more terrifying it will be.’

At that moment, the Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect let out a long sigh of relief. A moment ago, he had been tense to the extreme, not daring to be the least bit careless.

The slightest mistake could have cost him his life.

However, the man had barely breathed his sigh of relief when the second Thunderbolt came crashing down.

It was a relentless rhythm, intent on driving him to his death.
