Chapter 373: Not Even Dregs Left

The strikes came too quickly, with almost no time in between.

The Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect’s expression turned grim. With no other choice, he could only brace himself and face it head-on.

If he retreated even a single step, he would be instantly obliterated.

’That’s not the right way to do it!’ Chu Feng thought, shaking his head as he watched the man’s actions.

The truth was, the Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect’s physical strength was relatively weak. So when he acted, he channeled the Spiritual Qi within his body, using his Sword Technique to attack the Thunderbolt.

But at this rate, his Spiritual Power would soon be completely depleted. When that happened, he would be in a wretched state.

After all, there were still over twenty Thunderbolts to come. There was no way he could withstand them all.

Besides, with the old man’s limited Spiritual Qi reserves, withstanding over twenty more Thunderbolts was utterly impossible.

The man successfully blocked the second Thunderbolt, but disaster struck with the third.

By this point, the Thunderbolt had become terrifyingly powerful, its might sufficient to blast an entire house to smithereens.

So, when this Thunderbolt came crashing down, the longsword in the old man’s hand instantly shattered.

It simply couldn’t withstand such terrifying energy. After all, no matter how fine the blade, it was still just a mortal object.

This was only the beginning—just the third strike—and the Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect was already in such a state. How could he possibly endure what was to come? And the Thunder Tribulation certainly wouldn’t pause to let him recover.

He then drew another sword. The man had carried two swords on his back for years.

The Thunderbolts continued to descend, blasting the island’s vegetation to smithereens. The two wooden huts were also instantly obliterated.

Soon, the old man met the fifth Thunderbolt.

By now, his earlier composure was completely gone.

His clothes were in tatters, his long hair was disheveled, and his face was black with soot. He looked utterly wretched.

Seeing his current state, it was clear he was nearing his limit.

The sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth Thunderbolts to come would likely be too much for him.

He was heavily injured, his breathing labored.

He was half-kneeling on the ground, gasping for air, with blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

It was a tragic and sorrowful sight.

"Fellow Chu, please look after the Cloud Mist Sect in the future. I am eternally grateful. I shall repay your kindness in the next life," the Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect said, his voice incredibly weak.

Seeing this, Chu Feng didn’t dare to respond. He could only give a slight nod in agreement.

He dared not activate any of his own power right now. He could only do his utmost to suppress his aura fluctuations, lest he be mistakenly targeted by the Thunder Tribulation.

Furthermore, if the Thunder Tribulation locked onto him, Chu Feng wouldn’t be able to escape even if he tried.

The Thunder Tribulation could track its targets. Once it detected Chu Feng’s aura, the Celestial Tribulation would not cease until he was utterly annihilated.

Unless one could endure it and succeed in Crossing the Tribulation.

This was just the first wave of the Celestial Tribulation; there was no other way but to face it head-on.

For subsequent Thunder Tribulations, there might be other ways to survive if one couldn’t withstand them directly.

Chu Feng looked up at the sky, his eyes filled with shock.

Then, one Celestial Thunder after another crashed down, relentlessly.

It was as if it wouldn’t rest until it had blasted the man to smithereens.

With each strike, a deafening roar echoed from the heavens, sounding as if it could tear the very world asunder.

After the ninth strike, but before the tenth could fall, the Thunder Tribulation clouds in the sky began to dissipate.

The terrifying aura and the dreadful howling sound vanished along with them.

Chu Feng understood that the Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect was dead.

The Thunder Tribulation would only dissipate under such circumstances; otherwise, it would never have vanished.

Chu Feng looked up at the sky. The once ink-black clouds were gradually dispersing, and the sky was slowly beginning to clear.

The sun emerged, casting down its dazzling rays.

It was as if the entire spectacle had never occurred.

Even so, Chu Feng didn’t dare to act rashly. He remained rooted to the spot, not daring to move.

After another ten minutes or so had passed and the world remained free of any strange phenomena, Chu Feng finally began to move forward.

’With my strength, I could definitely withstand more of the Thunder Tribulation than the Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect did. But to withstand the whole thing... that would be extremely difficult.’

’That’s why I must be careful. One misstep, and my life would be forfeit.’

He walked to where the wooden huts had once stood. Debris was scattered everywhere. The ground was scorched black, wisps of smoke rose from splintered wood, and all the surrounding trees had been completely obliterated.

A large crater now marked the spot where the Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect had been standing, and the old man was in the pit.

Except, there was no person to be seen—only a few charred remnants, mixed in with the blackened earth.

’Even after ten minutes, I can still feel the lingering aura of those terrifying Thunderbolts!’ Chu Feng’s heart sank, and his expression turned grim.

It went without saying that the Sect Leader of the Cloud Mist Sect was no more.
