Chapter 376: Looking for Jiang Tao

"Let’s talk about that later. I’m not really considering it right now. I came here to chat with the Western Celestial King, and that’s all for today. When I have some free time, I’ll visit the Western Heaven King’s Mansion for tea," Chu Feng said.

He had actually come to find Jiang Tao, but he wasn’t sure how to bring it up.

"Leaving so soon? Brother, is something bothering you? If you need something, just say it. From now on, just call me ’Brother.’ If you ever have any trouble in the Western Region, feel free to come find me," the Western Celestial King said.

He had lived for many years and was a crafty old fox. He could naturally tell that Chu Feng must have come here for a reason but was just too embarrassed to say so.

"Well, it’s like this. I came here looking for someone. He’s an agent for my Chu Family, and we’re on good personal terms," Chu Feng said.

"Oh? You know someone who’s here with me?" The Western Celestial King was suddenly curious.

"He’s not a Martial Cultivator, just an ordinary person. He only arrived here yesterday," Chu Feng said.

"Ah, if that’s the case, I think I know. You mean one of those rich men, don’t you?" the Western Celestial King said.

The military made a point of courting some of these wealthy individuals. After all, the troops’ operations required financial backing.

"Yes. His name is Jiang Tao," Chu Feng said.

Just then, a military official standing to the side widened his eyes and asked in shock, "Venerable Chu Feng, who did you just say?"

"Jiang Tao. When I was in Beihai City, we got along well. He later became an agent for my Chu Family. He’s been here for several days, but I’ve been too busy to see him," Chu Feng said.

"You know him?" the Western Celestial King asked, looking at his subordinate.

"Yes. Jiang Tao and I are distantly related by blood; we’re from the same clan. We hadn’t been in touch much before, but we happened to run into each other this time, so I invited him to the camp. Since he’s not a Martial Cultivator, I didn’t let him wander about. I never expected he had this kind of connection," the military official said.

The man’s military rank was quite high, only two or three levels below the Western Celestial King himself.

"Then go bring him here. We’re all friends; don’t restrict his freedom," the Western Celestial King said with a smile.

"My thanks, Western Celestial King. I’ll take him for a walk near my Venerable Hall, then. I’m free anyway," Chu Feng said.

"Of course, no problem. Given your connection, that goes without saying," the Western Celestial King said, nodding.

At that moment, Jiang Tao was still confined to his room, lying on the bed with his large belly sticking out.

Fortunately, the room had air conditioning and heating; otherwise, he would have frozen to death.

There were a few other rich men in the room with him, either playing cards or just chatting and shooting the breeze.

Jiang Tao was actually quite exasperated by the whole situation.

But there was nothing he could do. Even though he was an agent for the Chu Family, the Chu Family was nothing compared to the Western Celestial King.

If Jiang Tao had known Chu Feng’s true identity and power, he probably wouldn’t have had these concerns and would have spoken up long ago.

"It’s so boring in here. Aren’t you guys bored?" Jiang Tao said to the others.

’I hope Chu Feng comes to rescue me soon. This is just like being in prison.’

He was a big boss, used to going wherever he pleased. He was used to his freedom.

Now that his freedom was suddenly restricted, he felt incredibly frustrated.

Just then, the door opened.

"Jiang Tao!" An old man in a military uniform walked in.

"Uncle, what is it?" Jiang Tao asked, looking at the old man. He was curious but still very respectful.

It was precisely because of this uncle that he had come to see the Western Celestial King.

At first, he hadn’t realized he even had an uncle who was such a high-ranking official in the Western Region, as the man hadn’t been home in many years.

He’d only found out by chance, so his uncle had invited him here, wanting to show him the ropes and broaden his horizons.

In fact, Jiang Tao had been able to build his business back in the day thanks to military connections. But having lost contact with this uncle for so many years, that connection had slowly faded from his mind.

"Come with me," Jiang Tao’s uncle said, offering no further explanation.

"Okay," Jiang Tao said, following without another word.

He didn’t dare show the slightest disrespect in front of his uncle. The man’s aura was simply too powerful, and it frightened him.

"Do you know Chu Feng?" Jiang Tao’s uncle asked once they were out of the room.

"Chu Feng? Of course. I just spoke with him on the phone a little while ago," Jiang Tao said.

"I have no idea what kind of dumb luck you’ve stumbled into," Jiang Tao’s uncle demanded. "And why didn’t you tell me you were an agent for the Chu Family?"

"Well... Uncle, you never asked. I just assumed you already knew. I mean, you’re such a high-ranking official. I figured a little thing like this couldn’t possibly be kept from you, right?" Jiang Tao said.

"Of course I knew about that," Jiang Tao’s uncle said, his gaze wavering slightly. In truth, he hadn’t investigated Jiang Tao’s background and had no idea he had joined the Chu Family. He quickly changed the subject and continued, "But he has another identity. Did you know about that?"
