Chapter 451: Accepting a Disciple

  • Next Chapter

The Sect Leader of the Profound Dao Sect, Jiang Tao’s master, had only taken Jiang Tao as a disciple for one reason.

He was completely taken by Jiang Tao’s fortune. Someone that wealthy would be a massive help to him. Of course, it helped that Jiang Tao actually did have a talent for it.

So, since it was a good match for both of them, the man accepted Jiang Tao.

After all, he wasn’t getting any younger and needed to pass down the Sect’s legacy. For that, Jiang Tao was an excellent choice.

So, for the past several days, he had been teaching Jiang Tao with all his heart, which was also a way of securing his own future in his old age.

After all, the Profound Dao Sect was just too poor.

He’d struggled for most of his life. For what time he had left, he just wanted to live the good life—to eat, drink, and be merry. How great would that be?

Foundation Establishment Realm experts stood guard at the entrance to the Venerable Hall. However, since the man had been around Jiang Tao for the past few days, he had become familiar with these experts and was able to walk into the Venerable Hall with ease.

When they reached Chu Feng’s door, Jiang Tao called out, “Brother Feng, I’ve brought my master over.”

Jiang Tao was a multi-billionaire, after all. And while he wasn’t a bad person, he was no fool. If the man had just been trying to trick him, Jiang Tao certainly wouldn’t have fallen for it, let alone seriously accepted him as a master.

Tricking him was not that easy.

Although he had joined the Chu Family and become one of their representatives, the Chu Family had made it clear from the start that they wouldn’t force him to take a master. His relationship with the Chu Family was purely a partnership.

That’s why Jiang Tao had sought out his own master. The Chu Family was full of Martial Cultivators, all about fighting and killing, which didn’t align with Jiang Tao’s own principles.

The Profound Dao Sect, on the other hand, dealt with metaphysics and destiny, which could be a huge help to Jiang Tao’s business. He was genuinely interested in it.

So, for Jiang Tao, taking this man as his master was a perfect fit.

After all, he had more than enough money. It was plenty to support this master of his in old age; he could probably support him for several lifetimes over.

Chu Feng understood that Jiang Tao’s master must have had a reason for seeking him out. He wouldn’t have come otherwise.

“Come in and talk,” Chu Feng said.

Jiang Tao’s master was thrilled and walked in with him.

Inside, they saw Chu Feng smiling at them. “Come, sit down. Have some tea.”

“Venerable Chu Feng, I am Xuan Yunzi. Please forgive me for disturbing you so late at night.” Jiang Tao’s master, Xuan Yunzi, said respectfully, cupping his fist.

His words were polite enough, but his looks were another story. He gave off a rather seedy vibe.

“We’re all friends here, no need to be so formal,” Chu Feng said. “You’re Jiang Tao’s master, and Jiang Tao and I are good friends. That makes us all family. Sit down, let’s talk.”

He had some recollection of this man.

Chu Feng’s memory was astonishing now. His Divine Soul had swept over this area before and registered the man’s presence, leaving a faint impression that only surfaced now that he saw him in person.

He had also previously looked into the Profound Dao Sect. Although it had fallen into decline, it had once been a very prestigious sect.

They were masters of feng shui and divination, serving many sects and holding a respected position.

But due to an incident back in the day, the Profound Dao Sect offended the authorities, which led to the entire sect being nearly wiped out.

As a result, very few members of the Profound Dao Sect were left.

Besides him, there were only one or two others left. The problem was, neither of them had any talent, and they both wanted to leave the Profound Dao Sect anyway.

“Brother Jiang, Miaoke, could you two wait outside for a moment? I’d like to talk with Brother Jiang’s master,” Chu Feng said.

“Huh? Oh, alright. Well, Master, Brother, take your time.” Jiang Tao nodded and left the room with Su Miaoke.

Although they didn’t know what Chu Feng was planning, they both understood he must have his reasons. He wouldn’t act like this otherwise.

After the two of them left, Chu Feng looked at Xuan Yunzi, Jiang Tao’s master, and said, “You old bastard, you’ve got some nerve. You dare try to swindle my friend?”

Chu Feng’s voice was laced with ice.

“Ah? Th-that’s… Venerable Chu Feng, you’ve misunderstood! I am serious and sincere about taking Jiang Tao as my disciple. I’m not young anymore, and the legacy of the Profound Dao Sect can’t be allowed to die with me! That boy Jiang Tao truly has a talent for this, Venerable Chu Feng. You have to believe me,” Xuan Yunzi said hurriedly.

“Cut the crap,” Chu Feng said. “Jiang Tao is over fifty years old. What’s this about taking him as a disciple? You’re after his money, aren’t you? And what was it you wanted to see me about?” Chu Feng could see right through the old man’s petty schemes.

“Venerable Chu Feng, you truly have misunderstood me! While it’s true Jiang Tao is too old to start as an apprentice, he has a son and a daughter! I can teach them! I swear to the heavens on this, I am absolutely serious about taking on a disciple,” Xuan Yunzi said frantically. He couldn’t afford for Chu Feng to get the wrong idea.

When Chu Feng remained silent, he continued speaking, mostly out of fear that Chu Feng would attack him. He knew he was no match.
