After he got in the car, the driver slowly started the engine.
The engine’s hum had a satisfying growl. As the luxury car pulled out of the garage, Chen Yuan fastened his seatbelt.
"If we take the highway, it’s only a little over a two-hour drive. We’ll arrive just in time for the meeting, so there won’t be any delays," Pei Youwen said respectfully.
"I’ve never been to headquarters. This is my first time. When we get there, will the procedure be the same as it is for our company meetings?" Chen Yuan asked curiously.
"Not at all. Everyone attending the meeting is a high-level executive, so we’ll go straight through the VIP entrance."
"Alright. I’ll just follow your lead, then."
Hearing this, a wry smile appeared on Pei Youwen’s face.
A moment later, he explained to Chen Yuan,
"I won’t be the one leading the way this time. President Jiang has arranged for someone to receive us when we arrive. This is my first time attending one of these meetings, too. To be honest, I’m actually a little nervous."
"Your first time? You’ve never been to headquarters before?"
"I have, but I’ve never attended a meeting at this high a level."
"But you were the CEO of Bauhinia Company. Weren’t you qualified to attend meetings then?" Chen Yuan asked, surprised.
"Bauhinia Company is nothing. It might have some name recognition in Lanjing, but compared to Jiang Energy Group, it’s a drop in the ocean. Everyone at this meeting is a titan of the industry. If I could achieve what even one of them has in my lifetime, I could die without any regrets."
"Is it really that big of a deal?" Chen Yuan looked at Pei Youwen. He’d always considered Pei to be quite ambitious; this was the first time he’d ever seen him so nervous.
"I’m not exaggerating. After all, Jiang Corporation is one of the top conglomerates in Kyoto, a leader in the energy sector. I’m only able to go and make an appearance this time thanks to you. I’m thrilled, really."
As he spoke, a fanatical gleam appeared in Pei Youwen’s eyes.

Before them, a magnificent structure sat at the heart of a network of busy streets. It stood tall and imposing, like a pair of colossal hands reaching up to blot out the sky.
The lower, central part of the structure was silver and shaped like a graceful cloud. The juxtaposition of this flowing form with the cold, hard angles typical of architecture only served to make the building all the more extraordinary.
Near the entrance, the words "Jiang Energy Group Co., Ltd." were carved into a massive boulder of unknown origin. The characters were etched in a bold, flowing script.
Much like the calligraphy, the architecture beyond was not delicate. Instead, it hit you with the raw, industrial feel appropriate for an energy company.
Chen Yuan had always thought his father, Jiang Zhengfeng, was formidable. As the man who truly held the reins of a massive corporation, even the place he had stayed while attending school in Kyoto was luxurious.
And yet, he had never actually visited the Jiang Corporation. He simply hadn’t been interested before.
