Chapter 462 - 300: The Twins Are Both Pregnant, Won’t Their Mother Skin You Alive?
Chen Yuan, the one who had single-handedly created this situation, scratched his head.
"Dad, what did you guys get for breakfast? We can all eat together. Ningning and Yaoyao are here too, so I don’t have to go get them."
Like a puppet forced to finish its performance even after the scene had spiraled out of control, Chen Yuan pulled out a chair with a CREAK, sat down, and reached for the steaming hot buns on the plate.
"Congee and buns. Your mother and I got up early and already ate out."
"So all this is for us? How are we supposed to finish all of it?"
"It’s fine." Mr. Chen adjusted his glasses, sighing to himself. "Take your time," he said faintly.
Liu He lowered her head. After some unknown internal struggle, she looked up, managed to pull her lips into a pained smile, and went to take Ningning and Yaoyao by the hand.
"Hurry up and eat, or it’ll get cold."
"Th... Thank you, Auntie."
...
「7:40 in the morning. The high-speed rail station.」
"Ow, ow, ow..." Chen Yuan’s ear was being twisted as he was dragged forward, his head lowered. Liu He cursed him as she walked, her grip merciless. Chen Yuan finally couldn’t take it anymore and wailed, "You’re going to rip my ear off!"
"You deserve it! You little brat!" Liu He couldn’t control the flames of fury raging within her. "How did I raise a punk like you? All you do is bring me shame! The only reason I’m not slapping you across the face is because you’re an adult now, and I’m trying to leave you with some dignity."
"What did I do...?"
"You dare ask me what you did? What was going on this morning when Ningning and Yaoyao both came out of your room!"
Chen Yuan was speechless, and could only look at his mom with innocent eyes.
Mr. Chen didn’t try to intervene. He just walked alongside them with a grim face. Clearly, he couldn’t save his son this time; the nature of the situation was just that bad.
"What were you thinking?" Liu He asked in a tone of disbelief. "This isn’t some small matter. Tell me, what if Ningning and Yaoyao get pregnant? You want to be a father at nineteen? You’re still a kid yourself, and you want to make another kid for your father and me to raise?"
"I didn’t."
"I can’t control you anymore, Chen Yuan. I thought you were all just innocently dating, living, studying, and growing together. But you ended up tricking both girls into coming to our house! Society might be more open now, but you still can’t act like this! Fine, I see I don’t need to worry about you anymore. Do whatever you want from now on! Just don’t come running to your father and me to clean up your messes! And don’t even bother going back to school!" Liu He unleashed a furious, non-stop tirade.
Her chest heaved. Her face was a mask of helplessness and anger, but more than anything, incomprehension.
Her son had been so well-behaved before college, a model student and a fine young man. How did he turn into this?
And in just six short months.
At first, Chen Yuan just listened silently. He had already anticipated this outcome last night. He’d take the scolding he deserved; it didn’t really bother him.
But when he heard the words "do whatever you want from now on," his eyes instantly lit up.
"Mom, you’re the one who said it. Don’t go back on your word."
"What? Which part?"
"The part where you said you wouldn’t get involved anymore and that you’d let me handle things with Ningning and Yaoyao myself."
"I—" Liu He was suddenly at a loss for words, then she slapped Chen Yuan on the shoulder. "You think I want to get involved? It’s because I don’t trust you! Look at this damn mess you’ve made! If anything happens to those two sweet girls, their mothers will skin you alive!"
"That won’t happen. I know how to handle things," Chen Yuan said lightly.
"Sigh, you’re really... I really don’t know what to do with you anymore."
Liu He opened her mouth, then closed it. Even though she had a thousand things to say, the words died on her lips. As a parent, there was actually very little she could communicate to her child.
’What else could she say?’
It was early morning, and as the sun’s heat began to beat down, the electronic announcements at the high-speed rail station echoed through the air. People bustled past the trio carrying their luggage, converging on the security checkpoint.
There was no more time to talk.
Chen Yuan couldn’t go through the security checkpoint, so he had to stop here.
Just then, Mr. Chen walked over and patted his shoulder.
"Alright, I don’t have much to say either. They’re both good girls. In any case, you need to shoulder your responsibilities as a man. Even if something happens, don’t run from it."
"Are you hoping for something to go wrong?" Liu He shot him a glare. "I’m washing my hands of this. Your father and I are heading back. You little bastard can do whatever the hell you want. I just hope you really know your limits like you say you do."
"Mom..." Chen Yuan handed them their luggage. "You should go through security."
There was nothing more to say.
He waved goodbye as his mom and dad gradually merged into the bustling crowd.
When Liu He glanced back, glared, and mouthed, "You go back too," Chen Yuan just grinned shamelessly. The huge weight in his heart was finally lifted.
He turned and walked against the tide of countless passing travelers, his steps light. Suddenly, he felt completely relieved.
He had finally passed this difficult trial.
Next, he just needed to quietly enjoy his romance with the two sisters in this city, even though there were thousands of obstacles, both visible and invisible, ahead of him.
But for some reason, Chen Yuan felt a renewed sense of confidence, and his resolve hardened.
’See? When you lower your standards and cast aside your pride, you realize all that illusory stuff doesn’t matter.’
’Grasping what you have right now—that’s true happiness.’
...
He had requested a leave of absence from school.
Because he had more important things to do. Chen Yuan returned home from the high-speed rail station, changed his clothes, and hurried out the door.
Chen Yuan drove to the Bauhinia Company. Pei Youwen was already waiting for him in the back seat of a Maybach, a stack of documents in hand.
