My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister

Chapter 763: Jiangg Ning Is Pregnant

  • Next Chapter

A three-person relationship always created minor obstacles to emotional development—a side effect of a completely different model of love.

Previously, Yaoyao had taken up too much of Chen Yuan’s attention, and Jiang Ning wasn’t the type to fight for it. As a result, many things had simply been left to unfold naturally. But now that Jiangg Yao was away traveling, a long stretch of time opened up for just Chen Yuan and Ningning to enjoy a world of their own.

Plus, they had finally overcome the last of their reservations.

Their relationship entered a period of explosive growth, progressing at a pace that was almost staggering.

Chen Yuan and Jiang Ning spent the vast majority of every day together.

They had both successfully joined the Mingzhu City Inspection Team. At work, they were supervisor and subordinate. When they returned home, they still had to write reports on their reform observations together. Then, after showering, they would sleep in the same bed.

It was an incredibly fulfilling and happy time, and both of them were growing rapidly. Beyond their physical intimacy, their minds were also merging as they contemplated the world. Chen Yuan always brought Jiang Ning new perspectives and insights, which in turn changed many of her formerly purely rational thought processes and her way of life. In contrast, Jiang Ning’s dialectical approach to everything often made Chen Yuan feel inadequate, as if he lacked her depth of study.

Mrs. Jiang had extensive operations in Mingzhu City. It was the core of development for the central region and the first pilot city for the recent reform initiative, so the internal situation was still quite complex.

Most of the Inspection Team members were top talent transferred from headquarters, and they naturally felt superior to the key personnel in the central region. This made the work of observation and supervision difficult to carry out.

To that end, Jiang Ning came up with numerous solutions. She used their team of several dozen people as a laboratory to test her understanding of management theory, doing everything she could to support Chen Yuan’s work.

In the professional world, social engagements were all but unavoidable.

But what put Jiang Ning’s mind at ease was that Chen Yuan brought her along to every social function, no matter what it was. For one, she could look after him and not have to worry about him getting drunk. For another, she could fend off any women trying to steal her man. After all, there was no telling how many people, both openly and in secret, were dreaming of marrying into a wealthy family.

They attended four functions, and at each, several reasonably attractive women deliberately tried to catch his eye. Jiang Ning saw it all and committed it to memory.

And since these were social functions, drinking too much was inevitable.

Jiang Ning would offer to take drinks for Chen Yuan, but he usually refused to let her. Only when she absolutely couldn’t bear to watch anymore would he reluctantly agree. ‘Perhaps this is the pride every man possesses,’ she thought.

Through these many little snippets of their life together, she gradually came to understand a more complete side of her boyfriend.

‘A drunk Chen Yuan is actually pretty cute…’ He wasn’t so concerned with his pride. He’d get all clingy, hug her without letting go, and endlessly repeat things like, “I love my wifey Ningning,” and “Hurry up and marry me.”

One time, they got home.

A drunk Chen Yuan stubbornly refused to get out of the car, slurring that Ningning was just stalling and didn’t really want to marry him. It took Jiang Ning over half an hour of coaxing to finally get him inside…

The funniest incident was when they had both had a lot to drink. They were trying to get a manager from headquarters to approve a new proposal, and the back-and-forth dragged on past one in the morning.

Starving in the middle of the night, the two of them went out for some street food.

It wasn’t far, so they walked there and back.

Only after they had finished eating did Chen Yuan realize that Jiang Ning was still in high heels.

His boyfriend instincts immediately kicked in, fueled by a bit of alcohol. He insisted that Jiang Ning stand on the curb of a nearby planter so he could carry her home on his back.

Jiang Ning told him he didn’t have to, but Chen Yuan put on a stern face and refused to take no for an answer. He insisted she climb onto his back. But when she did, he got dizzy and couldn’t stand up on the first try, nearly dropping her flat on her butt.

The whole thing made Jiang Ning laugh in exasperation.

Another time, they snuck out late at night with their subordinates to inspect a long-neglected power station and take photos. They ended up getting separated in the low hills, and when the main group reassembled half an hour later, one of the women was missing.

They had no choice but to split up and search for her.

Chen Yuan and Jiang Ning were the supervisors, so no one dared to team up with them. The two had to search the deeper parts of the hills together. As they were walking, Jiang Ning’s cheeks suddenly flushed, and she said she needed to go to the bathroom…

‘If you have to go, you have to go.’ Chen Yuan found a secluded spot for her, but she just blinked and said, “Here?”

Where else could she go? It was the middle of the night; they weren’t going to find a public restroom.

Chen Yuan stood beside her like a human wall. Even though they were in the middle of nowhere with no one around, he had to do it for her safety.

Hearing the unmistakable sound of trickling water behind him, Chen Yuan silently looked up at the sky.

Life was pieced together from these countless small details.

Jiangg Yao’s trip was originally supposed to last twenty days. But just as she was about to return, the elders changed their minds, altering her route to Australia and extending the trip by another ten-plus days.

Occasionally, the two of them would video call Jiangg Yao.

Separated by a screen, a thousand unspoken words would ultimately condense into a single phrase: “Be safe out there.”

…

「Time flew by.」

This period of happiness, which seemed so long, was actually very brief.

A little over a month later, it was finally time for Jiangg Yao to return from abroad. Her flight was scheduled to arrive at the Mingzhu City airport at ten in the morning. She was returning ahead of schedule, all on her own; she simply couldn’t bear the agony of missing them any longer.
