Chapter 764: Jiangg Ning is Pregnant

Chen Yuan was thrilled when he heard the news. He quickly took care of his other business and set out to pick her up.

As for Jiangg Ning, she had important matters to attend to and didn’t come along.

…

「Mingzhu City Government East Airport, Arrivals Hall.」

After wearing a suit and tie for over a month straight, Chen Yuan could finally relax completely for a day. He casually threw on a pair of board shorts and a white T-shirt. Sitting in a chair with his legs crossed, he was the very picture of comfort.

He had shed his usual, stern-faced image.

In the prime of his youth, Chen Yuan looked exceptionally bright.

Both sunny and cheerful.

After checking the time on his watch, Chen Yuan closed the wilderness survival and shelter-building video on his phone. He stood up and looked off into the distance. Passengers were already trickling into the hall, and a sizable crowd had gathered at the exit.

Chen Yuan crossed his arms, his gaze sweeping over the faces of the passing young women.

Until, his gaze suddenly froze.

A smile instantly spread across Chen Yuan’s face. He hurried toward a girl in the crowd who was pulling a suitcase and wearing a mask. She had fair skin and beautiful features and was dressed in a white dress.

She looked like a girl straight out of a manga.

He didn’t approach her directly. Instead, he maneuvered behind her and suddenly wrapped his arms around her waist.

“Don’t move!”

‘Chen Yuan wasn’t the least bit afraid of grabbing the wrong person. He knew that with his Yaoyao’s beauty and figure, she was bound to be the most stunning and eye-catching girl in the entire crowd.’

With a gasp, the girl stiffened and turned her head.

“Ah, Hubby!” Her cry made quite a few people nearby turn to look.

“Hubby, I finally get to see you! I missed you to death! Quick, let me hug you,” Jiangg Yao could no longer contain herself. Her face scrunched up; one moment she was fine, the next she was throwing her arms around his neck and planting a hard kiss on his face.

“Hey, we’re in public…”

Despite his words, Chen Yuan continued to hold her, his face full of adoration.

‘It’s been so many days…’

‘Truth be told, he really missed Jiangg Yao too.’

…

「Meanwhile.」

At that very moment, just as Chen Yuan was walking out of the airport pulling Jiangg Yao’s suitcase, Jiangg Ning stepped out of a taxi.

CLACK, CLACK.

Her high heels clicked on the stone steps of Mingzhu City People’s Hospital.

Unexpectedly, Jiangg Ning wasn’t at a construction site inspecting a new project or writing a report. She had taken time off and come to the hospital in secret, without telling Chen Yuan.

As she was about to enter the hospital’s registration hall, Jiangg Ning couldn’t help but pause at the pristine white entrance, lost in thought.

‘It wasn’t that she was keeping secrets from Chen Yuan. The real reason she’d come to the hospital in secret was that she had some… personal… matters to attend to.’

‘Alright, she’d come alone precisely because it was something a little too embarrassing to bring up.’

‘To be precise, Ningning’s normally regular period was off this month—it was already eleven days late. She’d also been feeling a frequent and urgent need to pee lately. A search on the unreliable Baidu suggested it was very likely an infection.’

‘There were a hundred, a thousand reasons for a woman to develop a gynecological issue, so being diligent about cleanliness and hygiene was a must. As a grown woman, Jiangg Ning of course knew this and was always very careful. That’s why she was so confused about what was wrong. Could it be because… *that*… had been happening too frequently lately?’

‘That was a distinct possibility.’

‘No matter how careful she was, even showering three times a day, intimacy always left her feeling a little… dirty. Especially after they’d gotten a taste for it and lost all restraint…’

Jiangg Ning had come alone because she didn’t want Chen Yuan to worry or read too much into it. She felt she had to at least find out why she’d been feeling so unwell lately, with her period being so delayed. It could be from drinking too much, she reasoned, not necessarily from too much intimacy.

Her mind made up, she took a deep breath and walked into the hospital lobby alone. Since she had already registered for an appointment in advance, she got on the elevator and went straight to the gynecology department on the seventh floor.

“I have a general idea of the situation. You’ll need a full bladder, so drink some more water and then go get an ultrasound. Come back and see me after that.”

A short while later, the female doctor, a kind-faced woman who looked to be in her forties, spoke gently.

Jiangg Ning had booked a specialist appointment, and this Dr. Luo was the gynecology department’s star physician. So, Jiangg Ning simply nodded and headed out into the hallway.

Outside, there were many other patients, all waiting with full bladders.

Jiangg Ning tilted her head back and chugged some bottled water. After waiting for about ten minutes, she saw a message from Chen Yuan saying that he’d picked up Jiangg Yao.

She didn’t reply. Turning off her phone’s screen, she quickly headed for the ultrasound department on the same floor.

“Is your bladder full?”

“Yes.”

“Give me the form. Lie down.” The doctor holding the transducer didn’t waste any time, motioning for Jiangg Ning to lie down with a lift of her chin.

Hospitals were always like this. For the sake of efficiency and to avoid pointless chatter, interactions with patients were typically done via direct commands, which always came across as a bit cold.

As she lay back on the examination table, a cool, clammy gel was spread on her lower abdomen—some kind of medical-grade substance.

Staring up at the fluorescent light on the ceiling, Jiangg Ning waited quietly. ‘It probably isn’t anything too serious,’ she thought. ‘After all, Dr. Luo seemed very calm earlier.’

“How many days has it been since your last period?” the doctor asked coolly.

“Forty-two… or maybe forty-one? I can’t remember exactly.”

“I see it.”

The doctor’s sudden, contextless remark made Jiangg Ning tense up.

‘See what?’

‘It’s not a tumor, is it?’

She instantly grew nervous, her fingers twisting together.

“The gestational sac is developing normally, located in the center of the uterus. It’s not an ectopic pregnancy… I can already see the fetal pole, and there’s a healthy pulsation from the primitive heart tube…”
