My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister

Chapter 770: I'm Going to Be a Father!?

  • Next Chapter

Jiangg Ning had a million things bottled up inside her. She couldn’t stop herself from wanting to confront her mother face-to-face.

But she’d locked the door from the inside earlier, so the knob didn’t turn on her first try. Instead, because she was using so much force, a sharp pain shot through her wrist as the handle jammed.

She paid it no mind.

Chen Yuan had already snapped to his senses. He rushed forward and wrapped his arms around Jiangg Ning.

What was done was done; confronting Jiangg Ruxue now would be pointless. Chen Yuan knew Ningning was seething with rage and felt so wronged she was on the verge of losing her mind.

Still, he comforted her in a soft voice.

He urged Jiangg Ning not to be so impulsive.

A single tear slid from the corner of Jiangg Ning’s eye. Her initial struggles and furious demands for Chen Yuan to let her go gradually gave way to exhaustion, until she finally collapsed to the floor, her heart filled with anguish.

“Why…” Her repeated whispers made Chen Yuan’s heart ache for her.

‘In the end, Jiangg Ruxue still resorted to such an extreme method.’

Chen Yuan was filled with guilt.

‘He hadn’t known at first. If he’d known Jiangg Ruxue would resort to this, he would never have agreed, no matter what.’

Too many things were unpredictable.

‘But since it’s happened…’

Chen Yuan accepted it surprisingly quickly.

His mind was filled with the five words: ‘I’m going to be a dad.’

He didn’t know why, but a sudden sense of responsibility washed over him. He felt both pressure and an indescribable, nervous anticipation.

‘There was a little life, his life, inside Jiangg Ning’s womb…’

‘Their flesh and blood, the fruit of their love.’

A magical feeling spread through his heart.

Chen Yuan spent a long time soothing Jiangg Ning, wiping away her tears. He picked up the medical report, stroking it reverently several times before placing it beside him.

His comforting gestures seemed to work.

Jiangg Ning let out a few sobs, looking at him with an aggrieved expression.

“Let’s have the baby…” Chen Yuan said cautiously.

“…Are you saying we could get rid of it? Are you trying to get out of your responsibility?”

“Of course I’ll take responsibility! I’m more than willing to. That’s my… our baby, inside you.”

Chen Yuan lowered his head, looking curiously at her stomach.

Jiangg Ning’s brow furrowed instantly.

“Why are you staring at my stomach??? What do you expect to see? It’s just an embryo!”

“Right… I…” Chen Yuan scratched his head.

“Look at you, you idiot…”

Jiangg Ning glared at him for a moment, but couldn’t help the corner of her mouth from twitching upward. “You’re unbelievable…”

Just as the two were looking at each other.

At the door.

A KNOCK KNOCK came from the doorway.

“Sis, are you okay? I was downstairs and thought I heard you yelling. Did you and our husband get into a fight?”

“Yaoyao’s here…” Chen Yuan said in a hushed voice.

“Let her come.”

“Should we tell her about this?”

“What else can we do but tell her? Go on…”

“Then I’ll get the door.”

Chen Yuan opened the door to find Jiangg Yao with a glass of honey water in one hand, her ear pressed against the door, eavesdropping.

The sudden opening of the door made her jump in fright.

She almost spilled the honey water.

“Did you two have a fight?” she asked tentatively.

“Come in first.”

“What’s with all the secrecy?” Jiangg Yao said as she entered. Seeing her sister’s expression, she asked, “Sis, why are you crying? Did he bully you?”

“No.”

Jiangg Yao heard the door CLICK shut and lock behind her. She turned around in surprise.

“Why are you two acting so weird today? Did something happen while I was gone…? Sis, have some water.”

“Okay.”

Chen Yuan watched the two sisters, Jiangg Ning and Jiangg Yao, take small sips of the honey water. He lowered his head and pulled the report from his pocket.

“Yaoyao, take a look at this.”

“What’s this?”

“Your sister went to the hospital for a checkup this morning. She’s… pregnant.”

“PFFT—”

Standing in front of Jiangg Yao, Chen Yuan took the full force of the watery spray to his face. He didn’t move an inch. A few seconds later, he struggled to open his eyes.

“COUGH COUGH COUGH!” Jiangg Yao started coughing violently, her face turning red in an instant from choking.

Her reaction was completely within Chen Yuan’s expectations.

He pulled out a tissue for himself and wiped his face.

“That’s the situation. I’ll explain the details to you. It was Auntie who…”

He calmly recounted the entire story.

Jiangg Yao was completely dumbfounded as she listened. Her stunned expression was no better than Jiangg Ning’s had been when she first heard the news.

“You two aren’t making this up together, are you…?”

“It would be best if this were just a story,” Chen Yuan said helplessly.

“She’s really pregnant?”

Jiangg Yao turned her face, utterly shocked. Seeing Ningning’s red, teary eyes, she scooted over, reached out, and slowly stroked Jiangg Ning’s flat stomach.

“Oh, wow… I’m actually going to be a mom,” Jiangg Yao exclaimed.

Chen Yuan paused for a second.

‘Her phrasing was a bit strange… but not wrong. After all, they couldn’t have the baby call Jiangg Yao ‘auntie’ when it was born.’

Soon, the three of them were sitting together in a circle.

Without a doubt, all their previous plans were now void. From this moment on, their relationship had a new beginning.

Life would now revolve around the little life in Jiangg Ning’s womb.

It was time to start making new plans…

…

The three of them huddled together, the medical report placed in the very center.

Their different personalities and concerns led each of them to have completely different thoughts.

Chen Yuan looked at Jiangg Ning.

Jiangg Ning looked at Jiangg Yao.

And Jiangg Yao looked back at Chen Yuan…

Their gazes shifted back and forth, as if they were all considering whether to be the first to speak their minds.

“Ahem, I think we need to hurry up with the wedding. We absolutely cannot have a shotgun wedding. The marriage needs to be set in stone before the baby is born!”

“Exactly! Otherwise, she won’t be able to fit into the wedding dress we ordered. What will we do when her bump starts to show?” Jiangg Yao added, agreeing with Chen Yuan.

“I agree too. Then we’ve all passed this resolution. The wedding plan is moved up.”

“But when exactly are we moving it up to?” Chen Yuan asked.

“Within two months!”

“That soon?”

“Soon is good. There’s nothing wrong with it. Let’s get it done quickly! The way I see it, we skip the engagement party and get married directly in two months.”

“Passed.”

“I vote yes too.”

The two of them raised their hands in unison, showing a surprising degree of coordination.

“In that case, Ningning should hand over her work responsibilities as soon as possible. I’ll find a replacement to take over for you temporarily, and then we can focus wholeheartedly on waiting for this new life to arrive,” Chen Yuan said, looking at Jiangg Ning.

“It should be fine for the first few months… It won’t affect my work.”

“Vetoed! Start learning about childcare now. We need to take this seriously. We can think about work later,” Jiangg Yao said, unusually solemn. “If you’re going to be a mother, you need to act like one.”

“Passed.” Chen Yuan’s hand shot up.

“I… pass, I guess,” Jiangg Ning sighed, looking troubled for a moment. But she quickly rallied her spirits. “However, after the baby is born, I want to get back to work as soon as possible. But Chen Yuan’s parents have to look after the child. They know how to raise kids. Our mom is not allowed near the baby.”

“Couldn’t agree more.”

“That’s no problem. My parents can retire anytime. When they’re called to the battlefield, they’re soldiers. No need to worry.”

“Yaoyao has to learn about childcare with me, too. We’ll share the responsibility of being mothers together,” Jiangg Ning continued.

“Huh? Why?”

“No reason.”

“Fine.” Jiangg Yao agreed reluctantly, her face falling.

Still, a part of her was looking forward to it.

‘She could be a mom without having to endure the pain of childbirth.’

‘Just thinking about a cute little baby… she could feel her maternal instincts kicking in.’

The three of them went over every possible arrangement for the future they could think of, down to the last detail.

And as they huddled together, planning for their future life…

There was a strange sense of warmth.

Jiangg Ning’s heart had originally been filled with terror, and she hadn’t known how to face the situation. But gradually, listening to Chen Yuan and Jiangg Yao’s back-and-forth ideas, her fear of the little life growing inside her began to fade.

It was as if the clouds had parted, and her future, once a hazy blur, was slowly coming into focus, taking shape.

Jiangg Ning’s life was different now.

From now on, she would no longer have to bear everything alone or make every decision by herself.

She had people to lean on, the ones she loved most dearly. And these two people would be with her forever, come hell or high water.

She would never again fall into the abyss alone.
