Kaiser followed Alex and the others out of the Academy Hall and returned to their classroom.
By the time they arrived, most of the students had already returned from their training sessions. Some were discussing their experiences inside the dungeons, while others were comparing their performance and complaining about the difficulty of their assignments.
Kaiser took his seat beside Alex and leaned back comfortably.
"That was exhausting," Alex muttered as he dropped into his chair. "I knew the training wouldn’t be easy, but I didn’t expect to spend so much time dealing with poison."
"You should have paid more attention to your surroundings," Kaiser replied casually. "You rushed into several attacks without figuring out where the poison was coming from."
Alex turned to stare at him.
"Oh, really? And who was standing right beside me when that poisonous gas spread throughout the entire area?"
"You were the one who ran into it first."
"That’s because you told me the serpent was about to attack!"
"I said it was about to move. I never told you to charge straight at it."
Alex opened his mouth to argue, but after thinking about it for a moment, he reluctantly closed it.
"Whatever. Next time, I’m choosing the dungeon."
Kaiser chuckled and decided to spare him any further teasing.
Soon, Abigail entered the classroom, bringing the students’ conversations to an end. She began reviewing the common mistakes they had made during their dungeon training, explaining how they could improve their control over their Rules and respond more effectively to different types of enemies.
She also emphasized the dangers of relying too heavily on a single ability. Even a powerful Rule could have limitations, and an ability that worked well against one opponent might prove ineffective against another.
Kaiser listened carefully.
Although he possessed several powerful abilities beyond his Rule, he understood that he couldn’t afford to neglect his training. His Shattered Soul Rule still required considerable practice, and he needed to become proficient in using its Shatter aspect without relying on the Soul aspect to overcome his opponents.
As for the Art of Balance he had recently inherited, that was a separate matter. He had no intention of revealing its existence to anyone, so he would have to find time to study it privately.
The lesson continued for another hour before Abigail finally dismissed the class.
"That’s all for today. Review what you’ve learned, and make sure you study the recordings I’ll send you. Your mistakes won’t disappear simply because you choose to ignore them."
The students began packing their belongings.
Alex stretched his arms before turning toward Kaiser.
"Finally! I’m going home. Are you coming?"
Kaiser stood up and nodded.
"Of course. I don’t have any reason to stay here."
The two left the classroom together. After exchanging a few words with their classmates, they made their way out of the Academy and headed home.
The streets remained busy with students leaving the campus and ordinary citizens going about their daily routines. Throughout the journey, Alex continued complaining about their dungeon training, occasionally bringing up the poisonous serpents and the trouble they had caused.
Kaiser listened to him without taking his complaints too seriously.
By the time they reached their destination, Alex had already moved on to discussing what they should do during their next training session.
Kaiser simply smiled and let him talk.
His own thoughts were occupied by something far more important.
Eight years.
That was the amount of time he had been given to comprehend the Art of the Way Things Should Be.
Although eight years sounded like a considerable period, Kaiser understood that comprehending a divine Art wouldn’t be easy. He couldn’t afford to waste his time, especially when he had no idea how much progress he would be able to make.
Once he returned to his room, he planned to examine the Akashic System more thoroughly and determine whether it possessed any functions that could assist him in his training.
But first, he wanted to rest.
There was no point in exhausting himself on the very first day.
After returning home, Kaiser went straight to his room and closed the door behind him.
He changed into comfortable clothes before sitting on his bed. Now that he was alone, he could examine the Akashic System without worrying about Alex or anyone else noticing anything unusual.
’Let’s see what has changed.’
With a thought, he summoned the familiar system interface.
A golden-white screen appeared before his eyes. Unlike the blue interface of the Cosmic System, the Akashic System gave off a faint, almost sacred glow.
Apart from its appearance, however, most of the information remained unchanged.
His class was still Death Genesis EX, and his talents, attributes, and Soul Bonds were all intact.
Kaiser carefully inspected each section, making sure nothing important had changed without his knowledge. After confirming that everything was in order, he returned to the main interface.
’There should be more to this system than just a different appearance.’
He examined the available functions one by one. The Akashic System still allowed him to check his status, inspect his abilities, and manage information related to his Soul Bonds.
However, none of these functions seemed particularly different from what he had already known.
Kaiser leaned forward slightly.
There was one thing he wanted to confirm.
’System, can you help me comprehend the Art of the Way Things Should Be?’
For several seconds, the interface remained unchanged.
Then, a notification appeared before him.
[The Akashic System can assist the Host in organizing and analyzing information related to the Art of the Way Things Should Be.]
[However, comprehension of the Art must be achieved by the Host himself.]
Kaiser raised an eyebrow.
’So, it can help me process the information, but I still have to understand the Art on my own.’
That made sense. If the system could simply grant him comprehension of a divine Art, there would have been little point in making him undergo the inheritance trial in the first place.
Still, the ability to organize and analyze information could prove useful. If he could identify patterns that he might otherwise overlook, the system could help him make better use of his limited time.
’I’ll have to test its capabilities properly later.’
He dismissed the notification and leaned back against the headboard.
There was still another problem to consider.
The woman had given him eight years to comprehend the Art of the Way Things Should Be. Although he didn’t know what level of comprehension he was expected to achieve, he couldn’t afford to put off his training until the deadline approached.
At the same time, he couldn’t abandon his regular responsibilities. He still needed to improve his Shattered Soul Rule, continue his academy training, and manage his other activities.
’I need to find a way to balance everything.’
Kaiser couldn’t help chuckling at the thought.
He had just inherited an Art from a God of Balance, yet his first challenge was figuring out how to balance his own schedule.
After resting for a while, he decided to examine the Art itself.
Kaiser closed his eyes and focused on the unfamiliar connection he had established inside the sanctuary. He tried to recall the sensation he had experienced when he first selected the Art, hoping to understand what had made it different from his other abilities.
Unlike an ordinary skill, the Art of the Way Things Should Be didn’t feel like something he could simply activate by supplying mana.
Instead, it felt like a concept he needed to comprehend before he could make proper use of it.
He concentrated for several minutes, carefully examining the faint sensation left behind by the inheritance.
Gradually, a particular impression surfaced in his mind.
Vibrations.
That was the closest word he could find to describe what he had felt.
Kaiser opened his eyes and frowned slightly.
"Vibrations, huh?"
He raised his hand and examined it, as though expecting to notice something different.
’Does this Art have something to do with vibrations? Or is that just the closest way my mind can describe what I experienced?’
He wasn’t certain.
The Art of the Way Things Should Be was related to Balance, but that didn’t necessarily mean it was limited to maintaining equilibrium between two opposing forces. Its true scope could be far broader than he had initially imagined.
If vibrations were somehow connected to its fundamental principles, then perhaps understanding them would be a good place to start.
Kaiser glanced at the Akashic System’s interface.
’System, can you analyze the concept of vibrations in relation to the Art of the Way Things Should Be?’
This time, the system responded almost immediately.
[Analyzing the available information...]
[Insufficient data to determine the fundamental principles of the Art.]
[The Host must first establish a clearer connection with the Art before further analysis can be conducted.]
Kaiser clicked his tongue.
’So much for getting an easy answer.’
Still, the response gave him a direction to pursue. Rather than blindly attempting to comprehend the entire Art, he could begin by examining the sensation he had experienced and figuring out why it reminded him of vibrations.
He closed his eyes once more.
This time, instead of trying to understand the Art as a whole, he focused entirely on that faint sensation.
He remained still, carefully observing every subtle change in his perception.
After several minutes, he noticed something peculiar.
The sensation didn’t remain constant.
It seemed to fluctuate slightly, almost as though something was moving back and forth at an incredibly small scale. The changes were so subtle that he could barely distinguish them, but once he noticed the pattern, he found it difficult to ignore.
Kaiser concentrated harder.
’Is this what I felt inside the sanctuary?’
He couldn’t be certain, but it was the first tangible clue he had discovered since inheriting the Art.
He continued observing the sensation, attempting to identify a pattern in its fluctuations.
However, the moment he tried to forcefully grasp it, the sensation disappeared.
Kaiser opened his eyes and let out a slow breath.
"Well, at least I found something to work with."
He wasn’t disappointed. He had only spent a short time examining the Art, and expecting to make significant progress immediately would have been unreasonable.
For now, he needed to understand what these vibrations represented and how they related to the concept of Balance.
Only then could he begin to comprehend the Art of the Way Things Should Be.
Kaiser glanced at the time before closing the Akashic System’s interface.
He had spent longer than expected examining the Art, and he still needed to complete his regular training.
"Let’s leave this for now. I’ll continue tomorrow."
With that, Kaiser got off the bed and prepared to resume his usual training routine.
