My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!
Chapter 970 - 973: Say That Again If You Dare
In the study, the two men were also discussing matters concerning the Hawthorne Family.
"According to the information I received, the item that can command this army is indeed missing, and it hasn’t fallen into the hands of Weston Hawthorne’s son or his daughter. If it had truly fallen into their hands, they would inevitably eliminate the other side and wouldn’t have hesitated for so long. They must be wary of each other."
"So, does that mean when Weston Hawthorne died, he didn’t hand over the item to anyone? Or is it just missing? Or did he place it somewhere else?" Jared Quinn squinted his eyes.
"It seems that way," Harold Chapman said, "I also sent people to search for it."
"Mm."
Melody Thorne, in a confused state of sleep, felt warmth on her back and was pulled into a warm embrace. The familiar scent made her instinctively close her legs, and she murmured drowsily, "Jared Quinn, not today."
A man’s low chuckle came from above, "Mm, go back to sleep."
He didn’t dare to tire her out too much,
Three days later.
Jared Quinn took her to the Hawthorne Family. Weston Hawthorne had already been moved to the funeral home but had yet to be buried.
"Young Master Quinn, how do you find the time to come by? Why didn’t you let someone notify us?" It was Donovan Hawthorne, Weston Hawthorne’s eldest son, speaking.
In full military attire and with a stern face, but he didn’t leave a particularly amiable impression.
"I heard Commander Hawthorne passed away, so I came to have a look."
"Young Master Quinn, Young Master Chapman, please have a seat, sorry to trouble both of you. Our father’s sudden passing was indeed a blow to us brothers. No one expected he’d leave so quickly, and now the Hawthorne Family is in chaos," Donovan Hawthorne sighed.
"Didn’t Commander Hawthorne leave a will in the hospital?" Harold Chapman asked.
"Ah, speaking of this is even more painful. Our father always entrusted great responsibilities to me and always groomed me as the successor to the Hawthorne Family. But no one expected he’d leave in such a hurry, without saying a single word. As the eldest brother, I’ve been inadequate. Since our father’s death, the younger siblings have started to fight for what’s mine. I intended to manage the Hawthorne Family well, but now I feel somewhat powerless."
"Big brother, what you said is wrong, isn’t it? Dad always trusted and wanted to cultivate me. He even clearly stated that everything he had would be passed on to me. Now, for you to say this, isn’t it a bit too much?"
Another figure entered the hall; it was Wallace Hawthorne, Weston Hawthorne’s second son.
"You bastard, what are you saying? Not to mention that Dad never said such a thing, just being the second son, as long as I’m alive, nothing here is yours," Donovan Hawthorne slammed the table with his hand, a hint of murderous intent in his eyes.
"In the Hawthorne Family, it’s always been about capability, and no one ever said the eldest son must inherit," Wallace Hawthorne entered.
"Young Master Quinn, Young Master Chapman, you’re here as well."
"With nothing else to do, I came to take a look," Jared Quinn spoke indifferently.
"It’s an honor for the Hawthorne Family that Young Master Quinn and Young Master Chapman could come. As soon as I heard you both arrived, I rushed over immediately, afraid someone might spread nonsense in front of you two and cause a misunderstanding about me. Father said years ago that, with elder brother’s wisdom, he couldn’t support the Hawthorne Family, but elder brother remains stubborn."
"Wallace Hawthorne, dare you say that again?" Donovan Hawthorne immediately drew his gun.
Melody Thorne watched the interaction between the two brothers in the hall and thought of Weston Hawthorne’s hopeless expression when he died. She truly witnessed it now.
