My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers
Chapter 405: Brought to Justice
Chapter 405: Chapter 405: Brought to Justice
He didn’t know the specifics, though.
But seeing Big Brother’s mysterious expression, he knew the reward had to be good.
"A special reward? Is there money?" another man asked excitedly after hearing this.
The sturdy man nodded as if it were obvious. "Of course, there is! Big Brother said that as long as this mission satisfies Big Sis, we can leave this godforsaken place and go abroad.
Going abroad would be great. It’s easier to operate over there. Unlike here, where there’s a camera on every corner and you have to watch your back constantly."
Hearing this, the eyes of the men who had been uninterested suddenly lit up.
Let’s be real, if they could actually get out of the country, things would be a hell of a lot better than they were now.
"I’m in! I’ll go! I can’t take it here anymore!" The first man to speak raised his hand. He was broke, couldn’t afford any entertainment, and didn’t know many people.
He just wandered the streets all day, bored and frustrated out of his mind.
Now he was itching to complete the kidnapping mission Big Brother mentioned, then escape abroad and enjoy life.
So when he heard there was a new mission with the possibility of going abroad upon success, he didn’t hesitate for a second, immediately raising his hand to volunteer.
The others, not to be outdone, eagerly signed up too, afraid they’d be left behind after the mission was completed.
They were used to making easy money. Making an honest living was simply not something this group of people could do.
"Let’s all go together. More people means a better chance of success," another man said, staring at the sturdy man after seeing everyone raise their hands.
If only a few were chosen and the rest were left out, who knew if they might do something out of jealousy to hinder the others?
To be safe, it was better for everyone to participate.
The sturdy man had clearly thought of this as well. He was silent for a good while before finally nodding in agreement with the suggestion.
’It’s better if everyone goes. That way, if something goes wrong, I’ll have people to cover my back. As long as I run fast enough, I won’t get caught.’
The sturdy man ran the plan through his mind one more time. After confirming nothing was missing, he contentedly turned his attention back to the group.
"So we’re going after that cop? Did Big Brother tell you? Do we need to go set up in advance?
Once we grab the cop and her family, the police station here will definitely launch a massive manhunt. How are we supposed to hide?"
After the initial excitement, the group started asking the most critical questions.
Having been on the run for so long, they were well aware of the police force’s capabilities.
If they rashly kidnapped someone, they’d have the cops on their tail, and escape would be difficult.
The sturdy man seemed to have already thought of a plan. "There’s a pretty dark alley on that cop’s way home," he said. "We’ll lie in wait nearby.
When she gets there, we’ll snatch her. A few of the guys will take her away while the rest of us go grab her family.
It’s not just us. Big Brother’s people will cause a distraction in a crowded area to help us escape. We’ll rendezvous at another location. No one will find us."
Some of the men were used to just following orders, doing whatever they were told. After hearing the plan, they cast their worries aside.
However, a few others sensed something was wrong. The whole plan seemed too perfect, with many parts that wouldn’t hold up under scrutiny.
’Will this plan really work without a hitch?’
But seeing the confident smile on the sturdy man’s face, they could only bury their worries and decided to pay close attention. If anything went wrong, they’d be the first to run.
Meanwhile, on Zoe Sawyer’s end, after hearing the entire plan, the Chief gestured to Heath Hale, signaling him not to hesitate and to arrest them immediately.
They could catch the whole group in one fell swoop now; there was no need to gamble with a colleague’s safety.
With Zoe Sawyer on the case, catching their leader was only a matter of time!
Heath Hale nodded to show he understood, then quickly contacted Evan Keller and his team, who were already heading to the location.
Soon, Evan Keller and his team had surrounded the building, leaving no way out.
Some residents who saw the heavily armed police officers downstairs stopped what they were doing, pulled their children back inside, and shut their doors and windows, afraid of getting in the way of the arrest.
"The target is in 513 on the fifth floor. Everyone, split into two teams. One from the left, one from the right. We’ll pincer them.
We can’t let a single suspect get away." Evan Keller assessed the building’s layout and quickly gave his orders.
If this group wanted to escape, their only options were to break through the hallway or take a five-story drop.
But from the fifth floor, even if they chose the latter, their chances of survival were slim.
Even if they miraculously survived, they’d be seriously injured and unable to flee the scene, so they’d still get caught in the end.
So Evan Keller wasn’t worried about them escaping at all.
’My team is fully armed and we’re completely prepared. If we can’t catch them all like this, I might as well resign and go be a farmer.’
The team quickly reached the fifth floor and flanked the door to 513.
Everyone stared grimly at the door in front of them.
At Evan Keller’s signal, a team member skilled in lockpicking stepped forward and opened the lock in a flash.
Evan Keller threw the door open. Several officers next to him were ready. The moment the door swung open, they pulled out tear gas sprayers and fired into the crowd inside.
Soon, a series of pained howls erupted from inside.
"What the hell is this stuff? My eyes are killing me!"
"Who’s out there?! Damn it, when I get out of here, I’m gonna make you pay!"
"Water! Is there any water?! Let me wash my eyes, I can’t take this!"
Immediately after, the sound of frantic footsteps filled the room.
Some ran to the bathroom to wash their eyes, while others, burning with rage, charged toward the door, wanting to beat up the culprits responsible.
But not everyone was panicking.
The sturdy man rubbed his eyes frantically. Once he could see a little better, he saw the group of fully equipped police officers standing at the door and couldn’t help but roar, "It’s the police! The cops are here!"
The already frantic crowd descended into even greater chaos upon hearing this.
Some ran into another room, trying to lock the door to avoid being caught. Others panicked and ran to the balcony, lifting a leg to jump before the height shocked them back to their senses, at which point they pulled their leg back and pretended nothing had happened.
Several others thought about charging out to fight for a sliver of a chance, but they were subdued by the officers waiting on both sides the moment they rushed forward, before they could even make a move.
"Stop resisting, or we will use force."
