My Taming System Makes Me Overpowered

Chapter 211: Threads of Authority

  • Next Chapter

The air in the Primordial Chamber split with a deafening, metallic screech as four centipede-like Archon Overseers hit the crystal floor. Their multi-jointed, iron-plated legs dug deep into the stone, sending spouts of luminous purple dust cascading through the blood-red emergency light.

"PURGE PROTOCOL: ACTIVE," the synthesized voice grated from their glowing red visors, rattling the crystal roots hanging overhead. "ERADICATE UNAUTHORIZED LIFEFORMS."

The nearest Overseer lunged forward, its massive, pincered head snapping toward Elena with kinetic force capable of pulverizing a fortress wall.

"Not on my watch!" Vetra roared.

She didn’t retreat or draw a heavy blade. She dropped low, her leather boots skidding across the polished stone as her crimson scales flushed with intense, inner heat. Flexing her long, claw-tipped fingers, she unsheathed twin hunting daggers from her waist—using the dense, enchanted steel solely to parry the beast’s massive metallic pincer.

CLANG!

Sparks erupted as Vetra deflected the strike sideways, her dragon-kin strength absorbing the impact. Without breaking momentum, she spun inside the machine’s guard. Her bare left fist ignited with a white-hot burst of dragon-fire as she drove her punch straight into the Overseer’s neck joint.

BOOM!

The thermal shock shattered the machine’s outer plating. Vetra followed up instantly, her razor-sharp claws digging into the exposed wiring, ripping out a fistful of sparking copper and liquid mana before leaping backward in a nimble, feral flip.

Behind her, Elena’s hands were already glowing with brilliant, incandescent flame. Her fire-mana core surged, translating her scholarly focus into concentrated, high-density thermal bursts.

"Vetra, drop!" Elena shouted.

Vetra ducked flat against the stone floor. Elena snapped her wrists forward, launching three compressed spears of roaring crimson fire straight over Vetra’s head. The fire spears struck the wounded Overseer directly in its exposed neck, superheating its central core until the internal frame melted into a bubbling puddle of slag.

"Target down!" Elena called out, her breath misting in the sudden, searing heat radiating from her hands. "Vince, three more are flanking from the left!"

Vince stepped forward, his eyes calm, his boots making no sound against the vibrating floor.

Beside him, the invisible Goddess floated casually through the air, resting her elbows on top of a charging Overseer’s metal head as if riding a parade float. She swung her long, silk-draped legs, her massive bust swaying gently with the movement as she looked down at Vince with a bright, mischievous grin.

Oh, look at you, darling, she giggled in his ear, her voice carrying over the chaos of battle. So stoic! So broad-shouldered! But remember... keep that scary power on a tight leash. If you blow up this cavern, my lotus in your pocket might get scratched, and then how will you give me my first deposit?

Vince gave a faint, almost imperceptible twitch of his eyebrow.

"I am aware," he thought back sharply.

Good boy, she purred, flipping backward off the machine’s head and landing upside down right in front of Vince’s face, her golden eyes twinkling. Now... micro-precision. The joints under their third abdominal plates.

The two remaining Overseers reared back, their red visors charging with high-density anti-mana beams aimed directly at Vince’s chest.

"Vince, move!" Vetra yelled, springing forward to cover his flank with her daggers raised.

"Stay back," Vince said softly.

He didn’t raise a barrier. He didn’t summon a storm.

With the invisible Goddess acting as his divine throttle, capping his transcendent output to a mere fraction of its true scale, Vince raised his right hand. He flicked his middle finger against his thumb—a motion as casual as snapping away a speck of dust.

Snap.

Four razor-thin, golden-purple threads of absolute authority shot from his fingertips. They didn’t blast through the air with concussive force; they slid through the dimensional space like heated needles through silk.

The threads pierced the exact third abdominal plates of both Overseers, severing their primary logic matrices simultaneously.

Clink. Clink.

The crimson glow in their visors instantly went dark. The two multi-ton mechanical centipedes froze mid-charge, their massive iron bodies collapsing under their own inert weight and crashing onto the crystal floor with a dull, echoing thud.

Silence reclaimed the Primordial Chamber. The red emergency alarm faded, replaced once more by the soft, ambient violet glow of the primeval biome.

Vetra landed lightly on her feet, her chest heaving slightly as the crimson heat on her hands and tail slowly cooled. She stared at the two lifeless Overseers, then turned her amber eyes toward Vince in sheer disbelief.

"You... you just severed their core logic with a flick of your fingers?" Vetra asked, dropping her hunting daggers back into their sheaths. She shook her head, a breath of smoke escaping her lips. "I spent half my mana pool just tearing through the armor of one. Your control is getting terrifying, Vince."

Elena stepped up beside them, wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead as her fire-mana core settled back into a quiet hum. She looked at the cleanly severed machine joints, her spectacles reflecting the soft violet light.

"It isn’t just control," Elena whispered, her academic awe getting the better of her. "It’s efficiency. He didn’t waste a single erg of energy. It’s as if he knew the exact structural flaw of ancient Archon engineering before he even struck."

Beside Vince, the invisible Goddess floated down, draping her plush, ethereal arms over his shoulders from behind and resting her chin on his collarbone. She looked at Elena and Vetra with a triumphant, possessive smile, her cheek pressing against Vince’s ear.

They think you’re a genius, she whispered raspy and sweet into his ear, her phantom warmth tingling against his skin. They have no idea you’re just following your Goddess’s instructions. You did so well... I think you deserve a very special reward once we pitch camp tonight.

Vince let out a slow, steady exhale, adjusting his coat cuffs as he looked toward the sealed bronze doors at the far end of the chamber.

"Let me get these open," Vince said aloud, stepping toward the doors.

"Talking to yourself again, Vince?" Vetra asked with a warm, teasing grin, walking alongside him.

"Just mentally preparing," Vince replied smoothly.

He reached out his hand, letting a subtle thread of authority slide into the heavy bronze lock. With a soft click, the colossal leaves swung wide open, revealing the quiet, winding path leading out of the rift and back toward the surface.

Don’t forget to keep that lotus safe in your pocket, the Goddess reminded him with a shameless wink, floating ahead through the open doors. Our long-term restoration project has only just begun.
