My Three Babies Have Different Fathers
Chapter 7: This is fake?
Hana frowned upon hearing the words spoken by the administrative clerk in front of her.
What did it have to do with her, anyway? Just because a mafia member was the one providing her with assistance, did that mean she was supposed to be happier and more grateful?
Hana merely nodded in response, with no intention of continuing the discussion.
"Aisshh..." the administrative clerk scoffed. "Don’t you know? This mafia is a little different from the others."
"Huh?" Hana asked in confusion.
"I heard from many people that this mafia belongs to the Xin Family. Do you know who the Xin Family is?"
Seeing that Hana genuinely knew nothing, the clerk frowned again.
"You really are something. Besides being stupid, you apparently know absolutely nothing about the outside world.
"Every member of the Xin Family died ten months ago. Now, only their eldest son is still alive. And instead of inheriting his family’s wealth, he chose to enter the world of illegal business. Do you know why?"
Hana shook her head again.
"I heard that his family worked together with a powerful family from the Melvin Continent to kill his bedmate at the time."
Hana did not respond immediately. It was not because of the mafia’s story, but because of one word spoken by the administrative clerk in front of her.
"The Melvin Continent?" Hana asked.
"Mm," the administrative clerk replied calmly. "You know that in our Melvin Continent, there are four territorial regions, right? Each one is controlled by one of the four great families."
"This is the Melvin Continent? Are we really in the Melvin Continent?" Hana asked again, still unable to grasp the point of the conversation.
The administrative clerk finally frowned. "What’s wrong with you? Even though our Karua City is indeed a slum city located on the outskirts of the continent, we are still part of the Melvin Continent."
Hana swallowed hard.
So she really was in the Melvin Continent? Hana asked herself silently.
How was this possible? The continent where she was living now was the same continent where she had lived in her original world.
Hana swallowed with difficulty before handing the form in her hands back to the clerk.
"Here’s the form. I’ve filled everything out. I’m going back to my hospital room for a moment."
"Hey, hey, Ma’am, are you really going to leave without taking your money and identification?" the administrative clerk asked, grabbing Hana’s arm as she was about to leave.
"Ahh?" Hana stared at her for a few moments before nodding.
"I’ll take it."
The administrative clerk finally released Hana’s arm and opened the small cabinet beneath her desk after seeing that Hana had calmed down.
"Here’s the remaining money provided by the government. You can count it first to make sure the amount is correct before you leave. And here are your wallet and identification card, which were being held as collateral."
Hana simply accepted them and nodded.
"Thank you. I’ll gather my things and leave the hospital."
Hana turned around and was about to leave, but the administrative clerk’s voice sounded behind her again.
"Ma’am, you should update the fake identification card you’re holding. It’s going to expire soon. If you don’t update it, you’ll be charged under multiple offenses."
Hana immediately looked at the identification card she had just been given.
Name: Hana Frans
Place and Date of Birth: Karua, December 21, 2009
Address: Karua Residence Number 78
Occupation: Unemployment
Hana immediately turned around and looked at the administrative clerk who had spoken.
"This is fake?"
"Ma’am," she lowered her voice until only Hana and she could hear. "You might be able to deceive other people with that fake identification card, but I’m different. I can tell clearly that the identification card in your hand is indeed fake. There’s an expiration date registered in the system used by the people who make fake identities. You need to renew it immediately before the Karua government discovers your lie."
Hana nodded with a pale face.
"Thank you," she said before turning around and hurrying back to her hospital room.
As soon as she entered, Hana looked at her three babies, who were still sleeping. Then she knelt beside the baby box belonging to her first child.
"What am I supposed to do? Did I really travel through time? Am I really in the Melvin Continent? With the same face and body I had before? But how is that possible?"
Hana shook her head before looking up at her three babies with an expression full of conviction.
"Of course. How could something like that happen? There must be a novelist living in my original world who used the Melvin Continent as the setting for their novel. That’s right... it must be that.
"I’m a good girl. I’ve never wanted to sleep with a stranger. I’ve never even kissed anyone on the lips. How could I possibly become pregnant with someone else’s children without even getting married? Besides, my parents are obviously still alive. Even if they had died, I’m sure I wouldn’t have ended up stranded in a place as terrifying as this. Their wealth is more than enough to let me live comfortably until I’m old."
Hana stared at her body for a few moments before nodding.
She walked over to the wardrobe, took her dirty clothes, and put them into the plastic bag she had brought with her when she arrived.
She looked at her worn-out wallet.
"Sob... this woman’s life really is terrible," Hana muttered.
She slowly opened the wallet. There was nothing inside except an identification card, a hospital payment receipt, and a necklace.
That’s right. A necklace.
Hana took it out and examined it briefly.
It was not an expensive necklace, just a low-quality titanium necklace that had already begun to rust slightly.
Hana tried to wipe away the sweat on her forehead that wasn’t even there.
There were three initials hanging from the necklace as a pendant.
D. O. H.
Hana frowned, clearly unable to understand what they meant.
She eventually put the necklace back into her wallet and hung it from her arm together with the bag containing her clothes.
She turned around and looked at her three sons.
"Damn it. I just remembered. How am I supposed to take my sons home? They’re still babies. I’ll probably have trouble even carrying them."
Tears welled up in her eyes. She did not have enough money to buy a baby stroller. There was no way she could put all three of them inside a plastic bag and carry them all the way to the place where this body lived.
"Ah... damn it. What else am I supposed to do? This is absolutely insane," Hana sighed in frustration.
