My Three Babies Have Different Fathers
Chapter 98: Ghani Wen
Two hours later, Hana left her room and headed toward the courtroom with the Vein family’s lawyers. Her face was still pale, and her eyes were filled with confusion. Her ears kept ringing, as though something was trying to warn her to stop walking and not enter that room.
Although her tears had stopped flowing, her mind was still in turmoil, desperately trying to figure out what had actually happened to her and her parents seven years ago.
The seventy lawyers from the Vein family walked around her as they headed to the twenty-third floor of the building, where the trial of the four regional rulers of the Melvin Continent would be held.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Hana stepped into the courtroom, where the trial would begin shortly. The room was enormous, perhaps large enough to accommodate a thousand people or even more.
Brandon’s secretary led her to the row of seats reserved for the Vein family’s lawyers. The seats were not particularly conspicuous, but from where she sat, Hana could observe almost every corner of the room.
After placing her empty bag down, Hana looked around before turning to Brandon’s secretary, who was sitting beside her.
"Are trials involving the regional rulers of the Melvin Continent always this grand?" she asked. "Did they commit serious crimes? Why—"
"Actually, their crimes aren’t that serious," Brandon’s secretary replied casually as he adjusted his sitting position. "Their actions could be considered ordinary for people with that much power. The Head of the Supervisory Council of the Melvin Continent shouldn’t even need to hold this trial, let alone gather all of them here to stand trial."
"Then?" Hana asked, still unable to understand what he meant.
"They worked together to destroy a family seven years ago. That’s the problem. They abused their power as they pleased, oppressed that family, and then erased their existence completely."
"That’s all? A trial this grand is being held just to address that matter?"
Brandon’s secretary stared at Hana for a few moments before giving her a faint smile.
"Mrs. Hana, do you think the Head of the Supervisory Council has nothing better to do than suddenly hold a trial this grand? Isn’t that ridiculous?"
He then continued in a more serious tone, "There is a reason the Supervisory Council decided to do this. The murder of the Deputy Head of the Supervisory Council’s illegitimate son was merely the trigger, while the case from seven years ago serves as further justification. I believe the Head of the Supervisory Council is using this opportunity to strengthen his position. The regional rulers of the Melvin Continent are trying to cooperate with outside forces to free themselves from his control."
Hana frowned.
"So you brought me here just to find out all this? Even though I carried their children, I don’t think I need to know about matters like this."
Brandon’s secretary shook his head.
"This concerns you, Madam. Your family and your future."
Hana frowned again, but before she could say anything, she looked up as the doors to the room swung wide open.
Dion Sexa, Orland Hesh, Hans Xin, and Maya Vein entered the courtroom at the same time.
Not a single camera was turned on. Nor could any whispers be heard among the people filling the room. Everyone seemed to be welcoming something so significant that they did not dare do anything that might draw the attention of the four rulers.
Their appearances were impeccable. All four of them looked to be in excellent condition, without the slightest sign of torture or pressure.
Dressed in clothes that were clearly worth a fortune, they walked toward the seats arranged in the middle of the room.
Hana stared at them as though she were watching people from a completely different world. She swallowed slowly. Her heart pounded hard, as if preparing for something that might truly change her life.
The four of them sat down arrogantly, without the slightest trace of fear on their faces.
Dion Sexa even lit a cigarette after taking the seat at the far end. Meanwhile, Orland and Hans, who had previously looked ridiculous in Hana’s eyes, now truly exuded the authority of men accustomed to wielding power.
Maya Vein, the only woman among them, showed no fear either. She sat calmly, reached for the cup of tea in front of her, and took a slow sip.
No one spoke.
It was precisely this silence that made Hana’s heart pound even harder.
What had she actually done in the past? How could she have ever been involved with people like them?
Her already pale face grew even paler.
Hana had never intended to face any of this. She had only wanted to admit her mistake and clear her son’s father of the accusations. But how had she ended up sitting here, facing people who might have something to do with her past?
She lowered her head and massaged her temples, which were beginning to ache again.
A few moments later, the doors to the room swung wide open once more.
The Deputy Head of the Supervisory Council entered with calm steps, then took a seat facing the four regional rulers of the Melvin Continent and their lawyers.
Not long afterward, a tall, gray-haired man walked in, followed by several people.
Dion glanced at him briefly before putting out the cigarette in his hand.
The man walked calmly toward the chair in the middle of the room, the place that drew everyone’s attention.
Ghani Wen, the Head of the Supervisory Council of the Melvin Continent.
A faint smile appeared on his face. One of his subordinates then placed a stack of documents in front of him.
The room fell silent again. Not a single person spoke. The only sound that could be heard was the rustling of pages as Ghani flipped through the documents.
He examined the documents one by one before raising his head and looking at the four people before him in turn.
All four returned his gaze. Not one of them uttered a word, as though they were waiting for the Head of the Supervisory Council to begin the trial.
Ghani moved the documents aside and chuckled softly.
"You are truly bold."
His gaze shifted from Dion to Orland, then to Hans and Maya.
"Dion Sexa, ruler of the western territory. Orland Hesh, ruler of the northern territory. Hans Xin, ruler of the southern territory. And Maya Vein, ruler of the eastern territory." He paused briefly before continuing, "Is there anything you would like to explain before I begin this trial?"
