Chapter 99: Did you really kill my parents and destroy my family?

Dion Sexa touched his chin, then slowly shook his head.

"Head of the Supervisory Council, I, Dion Sexa, have done nothing wrong. I don’t think there’s anything more I need to explain."

Hans Xin, standing beside him, gave a faint smile. "My answer is the same as his. I haven’t done anything wrong. I was merely seeking pleasure and didn’t do anything that truly harmed her. I only gave things a little push."

Orland Hesh shrugged. "I was only helping. Besides, most of what I did was at Maya Vein’s suggestion."

Maya Vein glanced at them briefly before looking back at Ghani Wen.

"I have no intention of saying anything. The Vein family’s lawyers will speak on my behalf."

Ghani Wen chuckled, but there was no warmth in his laughter.

"Very good. The four of you can still sit calmly before me after doing all that. Do you really think I wouldn’t uncover the truth?"

He waved his hand, signaling his subordinates to turn on the projector. Once the screen beside him lit up, Ghani turned his chair and looked at the image displayed there.

"The Klein family."

His voice instantly turned cold.

"Just to fight over a few possessions, you dared to attack the Klein family while they were making rapid progress in the field of research. You destroyed them without giving them the slightest chance to prepare."

Ghani’s gaze swept across the four regional rulers of the Melvin Continent.

"Dion Sexa, Hans Xin, Orland Hesh, and you, Maya Vein. Tell me, do you really consider yourselves the owners of this place? You dared to do all that right under my nose, then conceal everything from my supervision for seven years?"

Maya Vein answered casually, without the slightest trace of guilt.

"They were just a small family. Every year, many families like theirs suffer the same fate. Destroying one family doesn’t mean I’ve destroyed everyone. I did all this for the benefit of many parties."

"Many parties?" Ghani raised an eyebrow. "Who do you mean? Your own son or your supporters?"

Maya didn’t answer immediately. She then lifted her chin calmly.

"My son was already engaged to his partner before his in-laws gained the influence they have now. Even without my interference, the Klein family would eventually have fallen on its own."

"Maya Vein, why is your son’s testimony different from everything you’re saying now?" Ghani stared at her sharply. "And do you think I don’t know what you’ve been doing behind my back all this time?"

Maya fell silent for a moment, then looked away.

"I have no further comments. My lawyer will speak on my behalf."

The four families immediately relied on their lawyers to defend themselves. They disputed the evidence presented, raised objections, and produced counter-documents to weaken the accusations against their respective clients.

Ghani Wen and his deputy allowed the arguments to continue. They wanted to see just how far the four families would go to cover up their actions.

Meanwhile, Dion, Orland, and Hans said very little. They simply enjoyed the hot coffee their respective personal secretaries had just served them, as though the trial were nothing more than a minor matter they had no reason to worry about.

Amid the commotion, Hana clutched her chest tightly.

Her family name kept echoing in her ears.

The Klein family.

Seven years ago.

Hana Klein.

Her real name.

That family was hers. Everything being discussed in this room was not merely a figment of her confused memories. The people sitting before her really were involved in the destruction of her family seven years ago.

Hana raised her head and looked at them one by one. They were still busy arguing over the crimes they had committed, as though the destruction of an entire family were nothing more than an ordinary matter that could be settled with a few documents and legal defenses.

Hana shook her head vigorously. Tears streamed down her cheeks again as she rose from her seat.

Her sudden movement caused her chair to scrape backward with a loud noise.

The arguments that had filled the room immediately stopped. The lawyers who had been hurling objections and insults at one another all turned toward Hana at once.

Brandon’s secretary, who was sitting beside her, made no attempt to stop or calm her. He simply allowed Hana to stand and face them.

Several lawyers turned toward her with displeased expressions because their debate had been interrupted. Maya Vein also raised her head. As soon as she realized who was standing, a mocking smile spread across her face.

Dion Sexa froze, his coffee cup still in his hand. Hans Xin, who had just taken a sip of coffee, swallowed with difficulty, while Orland Hesh set down his cup before rising from his seat.

Hana looked at them one by one, trying to hold back the sobs rising in her throat.

"What do you mean by the Klein family? That’s my family!" Her voice trembled. "Was what your lawyers said just now true? Were you the ones who destroyed my family?"

She pointed at Dion, Hans, and Orland with trembling hands.

"Were you also the ones who killed my parents?"

Orland immediately hurried toward her before anyone else could react. Dion and Hans quickly followed.

The entire room was stunned by their reactions. Only Maya Vein remained seated calmly, snorting as though she didn’t consider Hana’s emotional outburst important.

"Don’t come any closer!" Hana shouted when the three men continued approaching her.

Her eyes were red. She looked at them one by one, hoping one of them would deny everything with a reasonable explanation.

"Did you really kill my parents and destroy my family?" Hana roughly wiped away her tears. "And after that, did you also turn me into your prostitute seven years ago?"

"Hana! What are you saying?" Hans interjected. "You’ve misunderstood. Things aren’t what you think!"

Orland immediately nodded, trying to calm the woman down.

"Hana, none of this has anything to do with us. This is all a misunderstanding. We never destroyed your family, let alone turned you into our prostitute."

Dion could no longer bear to see Hana keep backing away from them. He reached for her hand, then knelt before her without caring about the hundreds of people watching them.

"Hana, this is a trap set by the Vein family. I, Dion Sexa, was only acting according to my position at the time. I would never have turned you into my prostitute."

Hana stared at the man whom, just days ago, she had thought could be a good father to Sean and her other two sons. But now, she didn’t even know whether a single word he said could be trusted.

"So your promises to marry me were lies too?" Hana’s voice rose. "You only wanted to— You worked with the Vein family to make my life even worse? You wanted to see me suffer more than I already had?"
