Chapter 497

"Ah... I think this is it?"

Ray stopped at a page and began reading intently.

Most of the books he had been skimming through kept yapping about how the Big Four Legacies came to be and how powerful they were.

They listed their achievements and narrated how those achievements came to be, so on and so forth.

Ray wasn’t interested in all those.

He just needed one specific detail.

Turning the page, he spotted a heading.

{Where are the Big Four Legacies located?}

Smiling to himself, he nodded satisfactorily.

Seeing this, Elyon’s brows drew closer in confusion.

Why did the Tribrid want to know where the Big Four Legacies stayed?

’You see...’

As if realising what Elyon was thinking, Ray decided to explain himself.

’... Even as a kid, I knew about the Big Four guys but for some reason, they never did make a public appearance. Possibly the Commander does though since he is the leader of all the military forces.

But the other three, they don’t make appearances. The public barely knows what they look like, where they stay, what they do and so on.’

Ray paused his thoughts as his eyes darted across the page with calm efficiency.

’If Jack Kyre hadn’t made an appearance, I wouldn’t know about him too. But what bothers me is that, if they lived in the Walls—specifically Wall Diamond here, they should have been spotted though.

We know of the big faction leaders like Bryce Jackson, and I could look up his location right now and get it.

We saw the Blue Tower that powers Alcatraz, but where do these guys stay? So that’s what I’m after.’

Elyon nodded as he listened, but then, something confused him even more.

«Uh... But why? Why do we need this information?»

"..."

Ray sighed and then used his palm to cover the page he was reading before rubbing his temples.

’If I don’t know where these guys stay, how am I supposed to kill Berg? I don’t intend on failing that quest and losing half my power. So no matter what, I will surely have to kill Berg.

And for that to come to pass, I need to know where the hell in the world he is.’

«Oh. Well, have fun reading.»

And with that, Elyon walked away from the chair, leaving the Tribrid to focus on the task at hand.

{... Most people think the Big Four Legacies live in one of the three Walls. Despite the fact that they were the creators of these Walls, they don’t live in any one of them.}

’Huh? Why the hell wouldn’t they?’

{Despite being humanity’s heroes and seen as leaders, the Big Four Legacies are always at loggerheads with one another and rarely agree on issues.

A little spark between them could start a war which could potentially cripple humanity. So because of this, they decided not to live on Alcatraz in close proximity to one another.}

’Damn. Damn. Damn! Fuck, this is damn bad. If they aren’t on Alcatraz, how the hell do I kill Berg?!’

Ray grabbed his silver hair in pure frustration as he stared at the words written before him.

His blood was boiling at the information before him but nevertheless, he sighed and decided to continue reading.

{... Humanity has dozens of beast planets under our grip where we mine beast cores to power our technology and lifestyle on Alcatraz, courtesy of the Big Four Legacies.

Each of the Big Four has more than a dozen planets under their grip, and the leaders live on one of these planets, terraformed to suit their taste and lifestyle—far away from each other.}

The page ended, and Ray blinked several times in the span of a few seconds as he glared at the words before finally closing the book in sheer rage.

With a long, loud hiss, he slumped back into his chair.

Breathing in and out a few times to calm himself down, he hissed once more.

’Bullshit. What a waste of my time. How do I complete this quest now when my target could be on one of the numerous planets under his dad’s grasp?’

With a tired sigh, he rubbed the back of his head and stood up with the books in his hands.

’I guess I can see the reason why this isn’t online and is stored here for the military alone to access.

It’s better for humanity to believe their saviours are close by and with them rather than know that they are days away from them.’

Walking back to the shelf he had taken the books from, he placed them back exactly how he met them before retracing his steps towards the reception where he had come from.

’I really need time to myself to think. There has to be a way to get back to Berg.’

As he mused inwardly, he passed by the fictional section for a moment before suddenly stopping and going back.

’Without anything to do till our expedition to Wall Rose, I guess I can rekindle my interest in these...’

His eyes and fingers browsed through the shelves, searching for any novel that might actually interest him.

’Man... if I do this, I will spend the rest of my day here. Just close your eyes and pick one already.’

With a sigh, he shut his eyelids and continued tracing the covers with his fingers.

Then, with a deep inhale and exhale, he dragged one book out.

Slowly peeling his eyes open, he stared at the title in his hands.

{Shadow of Death}

’Oh?! Seems like a horror book?’

Tracing his gaze downward to see the author’s name, his brows drew together.

’Great. This child author again? Honestly, with a name like this, I will hate for him to ever write a book about me.

I wish his mum had knocked his head a few times before he settled on this name...’

As Ray rambled on inwardly, he began walking back towards the reception.

’... Like think about it, what if you go global and they have to call you on stage? Please welcome, KBKayboy? Hahaha....so cringe.’

Soon, he reached the reception and could see Zamir still absorbed in the book he had been reading from the start.

Looking down at his hands, Ray walked towards the desk where he spotted a register of some kind.

Filling in his details and the title of the book he had picked, he penned down the date before signing it and walking towards the door.

Reaching the door, he lingered for a moment before glancing in Zamir’s direction.

’Damn. He didn’t even realize when I reached the desk? Is that book really that interesting?’

Thinking for a few seconds, Ray pushed the door open and walked out.

’... Maybe I will give it a read when next I come back.’
