My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 508: Payback!
Chapter 506
"....."
Those hiding inside the buildings were more than shaken as a deafening silence descended upon the streets when Ray finished dealing with the beasts.
Nobody dared make a sound.
Nobody seemed to know what they were supposed to say.
Everybody knew how powerful the Tribrid was, but this...
...what he had just done was something that redefined the very meaning of power.
He had literally overpowered a horde of King-rank beasts with barely any injuries.
Both the Vanguard Order and the Iron Corps had countless powerful members, yet no Sergeant could boast of accomplishing what Ray had just done today.
Heck, some of the Captains would genuinely struggle against a horde of King-rank beasts without a squad of sorts.
Yet...
The world had just watched a sixteen-year-old werewolf do this without transforming a single strand of hair.
Captain Raze could be seen smirking as he watched the livestream while chugging down a plastic cup of coffee.
Captain Ella was in her room, also watching what was going on through her phone, a widened look spread across her face.
Even Ray’s friends weren’t spared.
Though they acted like they weren’t worried, they had all been secretly scared for his safety. Hence, they had been stalking his activities through the livestream—all except Van, who was focused on his task at hand.
And right before all their eyes, they saw what Ray had just accomplished.
Then—
"Oh fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck! I forgot about those beasts!" Ray shouted as he snapped his head towards the melted ground.
Grabbing his hair, he screamed inwardly.
"FUCKKKK! I wasted perfectly good beast cores! Shit!"
{....}
{Really, host? That’s what you are upset about?}
’Shut the fuck up, system. Do you know how much two hundred beast cores could get me? If I was able to make about eight thousand something with just a single core while I was an Aspirant, just think how much two hundred will earn me.
I could be super rich.’
The system was silent and simply let Ray continue his delusion.
"Well..."
Turning his head towards the dead hundred beasts, he shrugged.
"...At least these ones will do. Unless the Order forces me to remit them, though."
At that exact moment, the food destroyer could be seen staggering to his feet, a look of disbelief etched across his monstrous face.
Taking a step backward, Ray immediately snapped his gaze towards him.
Then, the Tribrid’s lips curled upward into a demonic grin.
"Ah... my beautiful beast destroyer. You’re still alive? Man... that’s great because I wouldn’t have wanted you to die so easily. You still haven’t coughed up all the credits I spent on my destroyed food."
The beast looked behind the boy, its eyes sweeping over the corpses of its dead comrades before returning to the human.
A hint of fear flickered within its eyes.
"You know what?"
Ray lifted his daggers into the air and let them go, watching as they fell before vanishing back into his system.
"...It won’t be nice for me to destroy your weapon and then fight you with weapons, so let’s box."
Shifting into a firm stance, his grin widened as a glint of malicious intent flashed across his eyes.
Turning his head behind him, the Ogre looked at the swirling Gate for a moment before turning back towards Ray.
It was stuck.
Returning back inside the Gate was impossible. The boss could very well take its head for abandoning the invasion.
And standing in front of it was an equal monster who would genuinely take its head after toying with it for destroying his food.
The choice was clear.
Both beasts and humans would rather die than genuinely upset their leaders.
So, with renewed determination, the Ogre bolted forward.
Ray smiled and lunged forward as well.
Within a flash, the two collided.
Knuckles crashed against knuckles with a resounding boom that shook the ground beneath their feet.
The Ogre immediately followed with a knee strike aimed at Ray’s face, causing him to whirl around like a broken arrow.
Before the beast could capitalize on the opening, one of Ray’s legs snapped forward in a powerful kick that sent the Ogre blasting into a nearby building.
The impact rattled the structure, sending debris tumbling down around the beast.
The moment Ray dropped his leg back down, he didn’t wait more than a second before the beast came charging back outside like a raging bull.
Its massive feet pounded against the ground, each step carrying enough force to make the street tremble.
Shifting one leg behind his back for a moment, Ray bided his time while the beast drew closer.
His body remained still.
His grin remained.
He simply waited.
And waited.
Then—
In a blur, his leg shot forward and crashed into the Ogre’s thigh.
BANG! BOOM! CRACK!
At first, it seemed as if the attack had done next to nothing to the beast.
The Ogre continued pressing forward as though Ray’s kick had barely registered.
Only for its leg to suddenly give out beneath it.
Its massive body dropped to one knee.
Its eyes flashed with genuine pain as the leg was revealed to be completely shattered, jagged pieces of bone jutting out through torn flesh.
Blood seeped from the wound before flowing steadily down its leg, staining the ground beneath it.
Ray vaulted backward, giving the beast some space while watching the Ogre force itself upright through sheer determination.
It planted the broken leg on the ground.
Its body immediately wavered.
The beast tried to balance itself, muscles straining as it fought against the unbearable pain shooting through its shattered limb.
Yet no matter how hard it tried, the broken leg refused to support its enormous weight.
Still, this wouldn’t stop it from killing the human before it.
Seeing that the beast lacked a proper means of reaching him, Ray dashed towards it instead—materialising before the Ogre in a jiffy.
The Ogre’s massive fist hurtled through the air.
The sheer force behind the punch caused the air around it to vibrate as it charged towards the boy.
Ray simply tilted his head to the side.
The fist crashed past him, a violent blast of displaced air slamming into his face and whipping his hair backward.
Almost immediately, Ray’s fist blurred upward.
BOOM!
His knuckles collided with the beast’s jaws, snapping its head backward and sending the enormous Ogre staggering.
Before it could reposition itself, Ray was already upon it.
His fist pummeled into the beast again and again, each blow landing before the Ogre could properly recover.
The Ogre swung its massive palm towards the boy, desperate to catch him.
Ray twirled around the attack, slipping past the sweeping palm before locking the arm beneath his armpit.
Twisting his hip, he used the Ogre’s own momentum against it.
Then—
Ray flung the beast into the ground.
BOOOM!
The impact shattered the earth beneath the Ogre, cracks spreading outward as a thick cloud of dust erupted around its body.
Even with the beast down, Ray didn’t hesitate.
He rushed forward and unleashed a flurry of slaps.
From cheek to cheek, Ray pummeled the Ogre with thunderous slaps, each impact snapping its head from one side to the other while tearing flesh from its face.
SMACK!
SMACK!
SMACK!
The sound of each slap echoed through the ruined street.
Then, cocking his hand backward, Ray’s expression hardened.
Lightning bloomed from his shoulder all the way down to his knuckles.
Blue arcs crackled around his arm, carrying the weight of deep vengeance.
The air around his fist trembled.
Then—
CRACK!
His fist blurred forward.
For the briefest instant, the beast could only see a streak of blue light.
Then the punch smashed through its head with the force of a speeding train.
BOOOOOOM!
The ground beneath the Ogre caved in even deeper.
Cracks spread far and wide across the ruined street, racing outward from the point of impact.
The beast’s head was shattered deeper into the ground, black blood pooling beneath it and flowing through the cracks like a small stream.
The Food Destroyer was dead.
