Chapter 518: Abort!

Chapter 516

Flanking the King at the same time were Ray and Nebula.

Even as he watched the duo approach him, the beast didn’t fret one bit as he tapped the handle of his weapon a few times.

Together, Ray and Nebula lunged forward with terrifying speed.

Daggers and bladed hands tore towards the Ogre King in a blur of movement.

The beast was forced to deflect each of the attacks to the best of his abilities.

The rain of attacks from the duo was intense. There was barely any space for a counter if it was any normal person.

Yet, the Ogre King was no normal person.

It was an Emperor-rank beast.

The trio began dancing across the chamber, with thunderous bangs and clangs resounding against the walls.

The ground cracked and shattered with every step the trio took to either advance or dodge.

Nebula’s bladed hands shot towards the Ogre King like a pair of swords.

The beast quickly twisted its body, watching as the limbs flew past him.

He was about retaliating when Ray slid beneath his Echo’s legs and sprang to his feet with a flurry of slashes that forced the King onto the defensive.

His warhammer snapped into place with terrifying speed, blocking each of the attacks with such force that a normal person would have lost their footing and crashed to the ground.

Yet, the Tribrid was unrelenting.

His gaze never wavered as one dagger was parried to the side while the second thrust toward the King with lightning speed.

However, the King lifted his hand into place, intercepting the dagger and watching as it struck the armor around his arm.

Sparks flew between the two of them.

Ray jumped into the air almost immediately.

Right on cue, Nebula materialized before the King with a roundhouse kick, which was blocked by the Ogre’s hammer.

BANG!

The ground exploded outward as the kick landed against the hammer.

The King’s feet slid a few inches backward.

And right behind him, Ray descended in a fluid lightning arc that tore toward the creature’s back.

The King smashed his warhammer into the ground, causing a small crater, and a translucent crystal barrier rose in a jiffy, encasing the beast within its depths.

Ray’s attack struck the barrier fruitlessly before sliding off.

His teeth ground together in helpless fury.

What more could he do against this monster?

If he tried using his strongest attack here, it would be almost futile, as he would need a few seconds to charge up, which he definitely didn’t have.

He could have Nebula distract the beast, but she wouldn’t be able to last those few seconds he needed.

And he wouldn’t want her to get destroyed here.

Who knew if he could even defeat the King all alone if she left?

The King whirled around with such force that the ground seemed to singe beneath his feet as his warhammer hurtled toward the boy like a battering ram.

There was no way he could avoid the weapon in time.

Hence, the Tribrid lifted his hand into place, watching as the weapon smashed into his guard with bone-cracking force, sending his whole body almost blasting away.

But before that could happen, a golden lasso appeared and instantly wrapped around the beast’s horns.

"Contract."

Before the King could react again, Ray suddenly shot forward with lightning speed.

His dagger crashed into the Ogre’s head with terrifying force.

A few inches.

The blade was only able to sink a few inches into the beast’s flesh before the Ogre whirled around, nearly throwing the boy off.

However, Ray was stubborn.

Grabbing onto one of the horns to steady himself, Ray ground his teeth and lifted his hand before thrusting the dagger again—straight into the exact same spot he had struck just now.

"Get off, human." The King growled as he sent his hammer hurtling toward Ray’s face.

His eyes snapped toward the hammer, but before it could strike him, Nebula slid into view, her bladed hands thrusting toward the King’s abdomen.

This caused it to reconsider its move.

The King immediately jumped backward with such speed that it almost seemed like he had teleported.

Nebula’s bladed hands struck the ground and ripped it open as if a hot knife had ploughed through butter.

This didn’t stop her from pouncing forward, her momentum carrying her toward the retreating beast.

Due to the sudden movement from the beast, Ray hadn’t been able to drive his dagger into its head properly, only for the warhammer to come hurtling toward him while Nebula rapidly approached.

Unfortunately, Ray knew she wouldn’t be able to get there in time.

Grinding his teeth, the Tribrid grabbed the lasso and jumped down from the Ogre’s head, narrowly avoiding the weapon.

Landing on the ground, Ray spun around as the lasso wrapped around the beast’s hand—the one holding the hammer.

Pivoting around the creature, Ray appeared behind it and pulled the lasso with all his might.

His muscles strained.

Veins protruded from his arms and neck as he pulled with everything he had, while the Ogre struggled against the indestructible lasso.

Its momentum came to a stop, its hammer rendered useless as Nebula was now upon it.

"Gah....NOW! FINISH HIM!" Ray screamed through gritted teeth.

His muscles felt like they would rip open from the sheer force he was using to pull the lasso.

Nebula wasted no time, sending her bladed hands thrusting toward the armored body of the beast.

The King’s crimson eyes widened for a split second as the bladed hands struck the armor.

With barely any resistance, the Spider Queen tore the armor away and flung it to the side, leaving the Ogre’s green body completely exposed.

"ARGH!" Ray grunted as he pulled his body backward, dragging the lasso with all his might while feeling the Ogre resisting his every movement.

*Come on....*

Nebula was just about to plunge her bladed hands into the Ogre when—

Ray’s ears perked up instantly.

His head snapped toward the source of the sound.

A spark.

Then another.

His eyes widened as he caught sight of the warhammer’s head.

"Fuck. Nebula, abort!" he shouted.

But it was too late.

Orange flames suddenly consumed the warhammer as the Ogre’s eyes blazed with fury.

ROARR!

Then it pulled its hands forward and smashed the warhammer into the ground with its entire force.

BOOOOM!

A fiery explosion burst outward, blasting Ray into a wall and sending Nebula flying backward. Pellets of flame scattered through the chamber, landing on the banners hanging from the walls and consuming them in an instant.

WAM!

Ray’s body smashed into the wall, his eyes almost rolling behind his head as blood tore from his throat.
