My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 586: Gone Back
Chapter 584
Everybody had an incredibly blank look on their faces as they glanced at one another.
Their abilities were gone.
Their connection to the human world was gone, and now, they were at the mercy of the Celestials?
’Come to think of it, he’s just a Messenger, yet he was able to whip our asses.... Kind of. What more could the ones who sent him do, especially if one of them has the power to create an entire realm like this and impose a condition on it? This is dangerous.’
Caster mused inwardly, his hands tightening as his heart pounded in anticipation.
As though reaching the same conclusion, Ray turned his hateful glare towards Edd, barely restraining himself from lunging at the Messenger.
During the minute he’d spent standing there, he’d desperately tried to activate his Werewolf abilities, all to no avail.
He’d even checked his System.
Fortunately, it was functioning perfectly. The only problem was that all his Werewolf skills were greyed out.
Only his Lightning and Celestial abilities remained active for some reason.
He was confused by the fact that his Lightning ability still worked.
He’d even tested his theory by generating a tiny spark around his finger, and it had worked.
So why had his friends’ abilities stopped working while his still functioned?
He had no idea.
But he was grateful for it.
At least he wasn’t completely crippled.
At least there was still something he could do if push came to shove.
With that realisation, he inhaled deeply, then exhaled before finally speaking.
"So, what do these First Ones want with me? Why was I summoned?"
Edd blinked at the sudden, almost one-hundred-and-eighty-degree change in Ray’s attitude and tone.
"You should have done this earlier. It would have saved us all the trouble. Tsk. Anyway, you and your friends will be taken to a holding room while you await your trial."
"....!!!"
"....?!"
"....."
If Ray had been barely holding himself back before, he was now ready to explode right there and then.
He would deal with whatever came next.
"Trial?! What the fuck is it with you all and trials? Just a month ago, I underwent one in the human world, and now I’m supposed to go through the same thing in the Celestial Realm?
"What? Am I going to the Werewolf World next to face another one there? Why the hell do I have to keep proving myself to you all?! WHAT’S YOUR DEAL?!"
Ray blurted out without pause, his anger consuming him from within. His voice rose with every syllable until he could no longer contain himself, his final words ringing loudly through the air.
Some Celestials in the vicinity paused what they were doing and turned their heads towards the group.
Actually, could these beings even be called Celestials?
Raze’s head continued turning as he took in the full scope of their surroundings, while the rest of his squad remained focused on the Messenger following Ray’s outburst.
They were ready for whatever came next, despite their disadvantages.
Because of that, Raze had a chance to observe the beings around them more closely.
Through his eyes, most of them appeared as nothing more than balls of white energy.
They had no human forms.
They were simply clusters of white energy, each with different shapes and sizes.
The way he perceived them reminded him of how he used Van’s glasses to locate the Aberrants’ lifeforce.
This led him to suspect that what he was seeing was the beings’ lifeforce laid bare rather than their actual forms.
Some of the balls were larger than most, while others were considerably smaller.
The moment they noticed Edd, however, they hurriedly scattered as though frightened by his very presence.
It didn’t matter whether they were large or small. They all rushed away.
’The bigger they are, the stronger they are.’
He mused inwardly, his eyes flicking back to Edd.
’.... Which brings me to the conclusion that even with their strength, they can’t take on their realm forms here. So how can he?’
Edd stared at Ray, his expression unchanged.
"I don’t care about whatever you faced. All I know is that your trial has been scheduled for tomorrow. You and your friends will be taken to a holding ro—"
The Messenger’s words died in his throat as he abruptly snapped his head towards one of the members of the cohort.
His eyes narrowed as they settled on a single person.
Someone other than Ray.
Feeling the intense stare, Felix took a confused step backward, unsettled by the sheer intensity of Edd’s gaze.
Suddenly, the Messenger’s eyes flashed deep gold as understanding dawned upon him.
"You aren’t supposed to be here, and neither were you supposed to be in the human world. Unlike the Tribrid, you’re a pure Werewolf. So, what do you seek?" he questioned, his gaze settling fully on Felix.
The Werewolf was taken aback, unable to utter a single word as the Celestial’s intense stare made his legs feel weak.
Just like Ray, he couldn’t transform at the moment. Which meant that if he were suddenly attacked, he would be toast, as nobody would be able to save h—
"—We can’t keep you here. Judging by who you are and the position you hold in the Werewolf World, keeping you here without your family’s knowledge would ruin the good relationship we have with the Werewolves."
’Wh-Wha—?!’
"No, don’t send me ba—"
SNAP!
It was too late.
A brilliant light swallowed the Werewolf whole, and just as it had done before, it vanished from sight along with him.
"...."
"....!!!"
Confusion flashed across the others’ faces as they stared at the spot where Felix had been standing just moments ago.
It was as though they were waiting for him to reappear, burst into laughter, and join Edd in revealing that the whole thing had been a prank.
But no matter how long they waited, Felix never reappeared.
Ray’s head spun once.
Lightning crackled deep within his grey eyes.
He couldn’t take it anymore.
"First, it was Kai. He was taken away from me. And now, Felix? How dare you take him away from me?!" Ray roared as his eyes began glowing pure white.
He didn’t think. He didn’t consider the consequences.
He simply bolted forward, his physical speed carrying him across the distance in an instant.
Only for the Messenger to shake his head.
"He’s back where he belongs, safe and sound. You all should get some rest."
And then, with a wave of his hand, the entire group vanished from sight, leaving Edd standing alone on the cloud, his hands clasped together in a calm yet worried posture.
"I need to report back."
Slicing his hand through the air in an ’X’ shape, he tore open space like fabric, causing it to warp and twist before him.
Taking a step inside, he disappeared. The torn space knitted itself closed with astonishing speed, as though an invisible thread were stitching the fabric back together until there was nothing left to repair.
