Chapter 593

"...."

"Ha-Ha-Hahahahaha!"

Ray burst into maniacal laughter, his tone deepening with each passing moment.

His booming voice rang throughout the hall as he continued laughing, as though he had just heard the funniest joke in eternity.

"Again, again, again... for fuck’s sake, can you all just say something different?!"

The transition from hearty laughter to outright outrage was so abrupt that several Celestials in the stands flinched, as though they had just come face-to-face with a devil.

The First Ones didn’t seem to react. Not that anyone would have been able to tell if they did.

"Time and time again, you all keep judging me for what I am, not what I have done. Humans condemn me because they think I’m a Werewolf, and you bastards condemn me because I’m a Tribrid?

"Tell me, bastards, what have I done to you all? Have I consumed planets? Have I destroyed worlds? The Aberrants roam freely and threaten planets. Did you fools do anyth—?!"

"I would advise you to mind your tone and words, Tribrid," Verus whispered, as though the temperature in the room had begun to rise several degrees.

Most of that rising heat seemed to be coming from the red ball.

"Oh, please, spare me. I speak however I want. Just because you are the head of the Celestials, and just because I’m part Celestial, doesn’t mean I will bow—"

"Yet you kneel."

The Yellow Ball finally spoke, its tone sarcastic, its voice neutral and seemingly unfazed.

"Tri—"

"—I’m RAY! CALL ME BY MY DAMN NAME, OTHERWISE I WILL RIP YOUR TONGUES OUT!" Ray bellowed, shooting Edd a murderous glare.

’Fuck, fuck, fuck. Ray is losing it.’ Caster gulped inwardly.

Beads of sweat rolled down the temples of his companions as they watched the confrontation unfold.

"Why’s Ray acting so rashly? Do you think his oth—?" Chloe whispered to Van.

"—No. That’s Ray, alright. I guess he’s finally fed up with being judged for who he is," Van replied in a hushed tone.

"I guess we’ve seen enough. He has revealed what he is. If he can comfortably threaten us in our own realm, what more is he capable of?" the Red Ball inquired.

Ray’s teeth ground against each other as he fought the urge to scream once more.

*We aren’t judging you solely because you are a Tribrid. We are Celestials, beings who oversee multiple races, and we are naturally inclined to exercise caution.*

Verus spoke calmly, its voice reaching everyone’s minds.

"Why are you even explaining this to him? We could jus—"

"Valor, you keep acting like humans do. Sometimes, I wonder what’s wrong with you. Just as Verus said, we are Celestials, and we are supposed to be fair and just."

The Yellow Ball interrupted the Red.

"Just? Fair? How is this fair, huh?! Tell me! I haven’t committed any crime whatsoever that deserves this. So what? Are you going to execute me?" Ray raised an eyebrow.

Verus merely sighed and said nothing more.

"Having a Tribrid roaming around unchecked and freely puts the realms and multiverse at risk. We don’t know what you could do.

"We don’t know you, and we don’t even know how you came to possess a Celestial bloodline in the first place," the Yellow Ball explained.

Ray was about to respond when he felt a hand rest on his shoulder in the Mindspace.

Turning his head slightly, he saw Elyon standing before him, his gaze trembling as tears streamed down the beautiful Celestial’s face.

"Wh-What ha—?"

"I-I just remembered a bit of my past when I laid eyes on them. I-I have never seen them before, but their aura is very familiar. It encompasses the entire Realm. Just let me take control. Switch with me."

"Bu—"

"Not everything requires threats and brute strength. Sometimes, you just have to remain calm, and that’s why we are Celestials. Just give me two minutes, and then you can switch back."

Ray stared at the Celestial for several seconds before reluctantly leaving the chair and allowing Elyon to take control.

The moment the Celestial took control, his aura poured out almost immediately. The body’s eyes shifted from grey to white in an instant.

The First Ones sensed the change, their balls of energy pulsing in resonance.

To everyone’s shock, Ray lifted one leg and soon planted his knee firmly on the floor, assuming a proper bow of reverence.

His head lowered respectfully.

"I greet the First Ones."

"Huh?" Valor was taken aback by the sudden 180-degree change in the Tribrid’s behaviour.

".... I’m Elyon. You might not know me because I was never worthy of your attention, nor was I significant enough. I was just like any other Celestial in this room today."

The Celestial hesitated for a few moments before continuing.

"I don’t know how many decades or centuries it has been. My memories have been wiped, so I can’t recall much. But allow me to say this as a fellow Celestial, just like the others in this hall."

"Go on." The Yellow Ball urged him. "I’m intrigued to know how another consciousness came to reside in his body."

"I understand why you are all sceptical about whether to keep him alive or not. And neither do I know how Bruce and I came to be inside his body. We both awakened a year ago in mortal time.

"But in the time I’ve spent with Ray, he has never shown any desire to become the threat you all speak of.

"He isn’t interested in ruling or devouring the world, and he isn’t the villain you all paint him to be."

There was a brief pause before the Celestial continued.

"He might be rude—"

"Might?" Valor questioned.

Elyon gulped before quickly reconsidering his choice of words.

"Ray can be rude, arrogant, and annoying."

«Is that what you think of me?»

"—But it’s all because of what he has faced so far. His family was killed in front of him during an incident that occurred in the mortal realm, and he is actively seeking vengeance against those who took everything from him.

"He has never harmed any innocent being or threatened the multiverse. So, I want to implore the First Ones to please consider this and judge him based on who he is, not what he could become in the fu—"

"You claim to be a Celestial? Well, I can sense the energy within you. But why do you speak like a mortal?"

The Yellow Energy, Asterion, interrupted smoothly.

"Pardon?" Elyon replied, raising an eyebrow.

Even throughout his plea, and now, he hadn’t lifted his head once to look at the First Ones.

"The Tribrid is a threat, and we refuse to let him live."

Valor delivered the declaration with such finality that Van’s hands clenched into fists almost immediately.
