Chapter 594

"The Tribrid is a threat, and we refuse to let him live," Valor declared with such finality that Van’s hands clenched into fists almost immediately.

"...."

Almost immediately, Verus took over.

Unlike the others, whose voices could be heard loud and clear, Verus’s voice always found its way directly into the minds of everyone present.

"Having lost your memories, although I’m curious about your particular situation, is no excuse for not knowing our duties as Celestials."

Elyon didn’t reply. He kept his head bowed.

Sweat trickled down his face, not only because of the overwhelming presence around him but also because of the murderous intent radiating from within.

Based on the fragments of memories he could still recall, the First Ones possessed the power to erase and eliminate any threat.

They were cosmic beings of immense strength, and as Celestials, dealing with a threat would be an easy task for them.

But just because they were powerful didn’t mean there weren’t things beyond their capabilities.

Especially considering the condition that Celestials were forbidden from directly interfering with the laws of the world or meddling in the mortal realm in any way whatsoever, unless something threatened the Celestials themselves.

Ray, on the other hand, was someone who would make sure to torture his foes and make them beg for mercy and death.

Elyon was therefore caught between the devils outside and the one inside.

"This Universe operates on a scale of balance."

As Verus spoke, a hologram appeared in the air.

It depicted a seesaw with two equally weighted stones resting on either side.

"As Celestials, it is our duty to ensure that the scales of balance do not tilt. If they do..."

He added another stone to one side, then another, and another, until the entire seesaw tipped over.

"...The universe could descend into chaos, and in the process, the Great Reset would occur."

The seesaw appeared again, this time with freshly placed stones.

"Every single one of us would be wiped from the face of this universe, with new races taking our place. Hence, we always seek to eliminate anything that could tip the scales of balance and potentially destroy the universe."

The hologram vanished, and the other Celestials nodded along with Verus’s explanation.

"The one with whom you share a body possesses the power to destroy this universe if left unchecked. He may be innocent, as you claim, but that doesn’t mean we are going to allow something that could potentially threaten the universe to roam freely.

"The hardest choices require the greatest sacrifices, Elyon."

Verus ended his explanation with a firm and seemingly final decision.

Elyon clenched his fists. He didn’t know what else to do.

Only for Ray to grab him by the shoulders.

"Move."

"Ra-Ray, don’t do anything rash."

"Move."

"Ray, don’t make things worse. They still sound undecided."

"Mo. Ve."

Ray’s voice emerged as a growl, one that sounded like a starving beast ready to devour the galaxy if given the chance.

Reluctantly, Elyon left the chair, allowing Ray to take control of the body once more.

The moment Ray settled into the chair, his eyes reverted to their normal grey as he slowly lifted his head and glared in the direction of the Balls of Energy.

The change in his aura was unmistakable. It had become heavy and suffocating, as though he were ready to unleash everything he had been holding back.

He was just about to open his mouth when Verus interrupted.

"But then again, if we play our cards right, we won’t have to execute him."

"...."

"....!!!"

Soon, the crowd of Celestials burst into loud murmurs, their visible and audible disapproval making it clear that they weren’t pleased with what the First Ones were considering.

"Are you listening to yourself? You want to become an advocate for him?!" Valor snickered, turning his ball towards the green one.

"Is that so bad? Do we really have to make an enemy of him?" Verus whispered.

"We don’t have to worry about an enemy if he’s gone. Have you forgotten about the last time? Do you want history to repeat itself again?" Valor countered in his usual angry tone.

’Last time?’ Raze frowned at those words.

Verus remained silent for a few seconds before shaking his head.

"I certainly haven’t forgotten about that, and I’m sure the oldest Celestials present here won’t be able to forget it either. But that was then, and this is now.

"We can’t allow our fears to take hold of the present."

"Which is exactly why he has to be gone! We failed to identify that one in time, and things escalated. We can’t let it happen again!" Valor roared.

The chandeliers swayed heavily, as though a massive gust of wind had struck them.

The hall fell silent beneath the rage radiating from the Red Celestial when—

"And you think you have the power to make me disappear?" Ray questioned, tilting his head in Valor’s direction.

Killing intent poured out of him, causing the ground beneath his feet to crack extensively.

Valor visibly turned towards him.

If he had eyes at that moment, they would have been narrowed into a frown at the sheer audacity the Tribrid was displaying.

"Didn’t we advise you to mind your tone? In case you have forgotten, you are currently in our Realm, one-third of your strength is gone, and you are on your knees at our mercy," Asterion said.

The corner of Ray’s lips curled into a mocking smirk.

"One-third? I don’t need my full strength to wipe the floor with each and every one of you. Just come, lift your damned pressure off me, and watch how I blast you all to oblivion.

"Think I need to transform into a Werewolf?!"

From the shadows beneath him, two pairs of crimson eyes ignited, ready and waiting to be summoned, as Ray raised his hands forward as though they were chained and waiting to be unlocked.

"...."

A deathly silence descended upon the hall, as though the very concept of sound had been sucked clean out of the air.

Edd’s eyes widened as he felt something familiar in the air.

’Fuck.’

Without warning, he reached into his robe and flung a coin into the air.

Every hair on Ray’s body stood on end, and then—

"HOW DARE YOU?!"

Valor thundered, unleashing a massive shockwave that shattered all the chandeliers and slammed into Ray with the force of a natural disaster.

The coin Edd had tossed into the air struck the ground, and a barrier of energy immediately rose, enclosing him and Ray’s companions just in time to protect them from the shockwave as it spread with furious force.

The attack smashed into Ray, and he felt his insides burn and tear apart.

Blood, a whole fountain of it, poured from his nose, mouth, and eyes as his body was sent hurtling into a wall.

He slammed into it with such force that the structure cracked violently.
