My Virtu-Real Harem System

Chapter 35: Mirror Fracture

  • Next Chapter

The absolute silence inside the pristine white laboratory observatory was thick, suffocating, and instantly charged with a reality-shattering tension. Leo stood completely frozen, his heavy combat boots feeling as if they were welded to the clean tile flooring. His dark-grey eyes dilated into pinpricks, his upgraded intelligence core violently looping through its logic matrix only to yield complete, unreadable error buffers.

Standing a mere fifteen feet away, stepping fully out from the window shadow, was a perfect, flawless mirror image of himself. The identical twin possessed his exact height, his exact exceptionally broad muscular shoulders, his exact face, and his exact textured, messy chocolate-brown hair. Even the casual, mocking smirk playing on the doppelgänger's face felt like a twisted reflection of his own inner confidence.

"I told you, rookie operative," the doppelgänger murmured smoothly, his voice carrying the exact deep, resonant masculine baritone that belonged to Leo. "I am you."

Leo’s jaw tightened, a cold sweat tracing down his profile as his mind raced to find a logical explanation. "You're... what the hell is this simulation protocol?"

The clone let out a loud, mocking laugh that echoed sharply against the clinical white walls. "Oh, look at that face!"

Leo opened his mouth, his deep voice cutting through the air to demand a real answer, but before a single syllable could escape his lips, a heavy, rhythmic thumping noise violently cut through the space from the far right quadrant of the observatory.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

Leo’s head snapped sharply to the right, his gaze cutting past a row of flashing data monitors. His breath caught violently in his throat. Securely mounted into the center of the far wall were two massive, floor-to-ceiling cylindrical glass containment vats, both entirely filled with a thick, glowing neon-green amniotic fluid. Floating suspended inside the left container was Chloe, her short pink hair drifting loosely like seaweed as she remained locked in a deep, peaceful sleep.

But inside the right container, Senior Cynthia was completely conscious. Her clothes were entirely missing, her long black hair clinging wetly to her pale skin as her amber eyes vibrated with absolute terror. She was aggressively pounding her bare fists against the thick, reinforced glass barrier, her muffled screams dissolving into frantic bubbles within the green fluid as she stared dead at him.

"Cynthia! Chloe!" A raw surge of protective adrenaline violently exploded through Leo's chest. Forgetting his tactical guard, he instantly lunged forward, sprinting straight toward the containment vats.

BOOM!

A blinding, high-density violet laser blast violently detonated directly at the tip of his combat boots, blowing a massive, jagged trench into the floor tiles and sending a spray of white shrapnel flying against his shins. The sheer concussive force forcefully checked his momentum, forcing him to skid to a sudden, tense halt.

"Ah, ah, ah! Not so fast, player," the clone callously trolled, casually lowering his open palm as the pulsing purple matrix energy hummed violently behind his eyes. "You don't get to bypass the final boss just because your little girlfriends are crying inside a glass jar. If you want to crack those containers and save them before the fluid drains their life data, you're going to have to forcefully delete me first."

Ding!

A sudden flash of silver and charcoal-grey grid lines violently wrapped around the clone's body. In less than a heartbeat, the doppelgänger’s dark clothes completely dissolved, flawlessly copying Leo's exact Western combat uniform layers and charcoal-grey reinforcement vest. Simultaneously, a vibrant, buzzing edge of hyper-heated violet energy cloaked a heavy steel long sword that pulled itself straight out of the thin air into the clone's right hand, a perfect, duplicated layout of Leo's upgraded plasma-charged high-frequency energy blade.

Leo’s chest heaved, a profound wave of anxiety flashing through his thoughts. He immediately accessed his internal interface. 'System! What the hell is this anomaly?! How can a rogue entity flawlessly duplicate my attributes, my equipment payload, and my exact weapon upgrades?!'

Ding!

[ERROR: EXTREME LOCAL JAMMING DETECTED]

[INTERFACE MATRIX: SECURING NULL VALUES]

[SYSTEM RESPONSE: CRITICAL DATA SOURCING UNAVAILABLE. LORE METRICS DETECTED AS UNKNOWN]

"You know absolutely nothing? Useful as always," Leo hissed internally through gritted teeth, his sword arm locking into a tight, aggressive guard as the clone firmly planted his boots.

"Let's see who's the real master here!" the doppelgänger roared with an arrogant smirk.

The clone violently leaped through the air, his athletic frame launching forward with an explosive, high-mobility speed that perfectly mirrored Leo's maxed-out attributes. The plasma blade cut down in a lethal, vertical cleave designed to split Leo in half. Leo’s reflexes kicked in just in time; he forcefully threw his torso to the left, the clone’s buzzing energy blade missing his shoulder by a fraction of a millimeter and slicing cleanly through the metal floorboards with a deafening screech.

Leo pivoted rapidly on his heel, using his momentum to launch a heavy, two-handed horizontal counter-strike targeting the clone’s exposed ribs. But the clone anticipated the loop flawlessly. Bringing his own blade up with absolute, symmetrical precision, their weapons collided head-on in the center of the white observatory.

CRACK-BANG!

A spectacular, blinding explosion of blue and violet sparks violently illuminated the room, the raw thermal energy of the two high-frequency plasma blades creating a high-voltage shockwave that shattered the glass covers of the surrounding data monitors.

What followed was an absolute, white-hot storm of tactical combat. Because their attributes, speed metrics, and stamina buffers were mathematically equal, every single lunge was met with a perfect parry. They blurred across the pristine white room, their blades clanging relentlessly in a savage, high-speed rhythm that tore the laboratory infrastructure to absolute shreds.

"Who the hell are you?!" Leo demanded firmly, his voice booming with authority as he barely deflected a lethal thrust targeting his throat, their blades grinding against each other with a violent, buzzing friction.

"Oh, come on, Leo! Use that big brain of yours!" the clone trolled hard, offering a mocking, wide-eyed grin as he forcefully pushed against Leo's guard. "Maybe I'm just your inner dark desires manifested! Or maybe I'm just a cooler, better version of you who actually knows how to treat the women!"

"Shut up!" Leo roared. He surged his physical power, breaking the blade lock and executing a rapid, diagonal slash. But the clone smoothly ducked beneath the arc, his boot swinging out in a sweeping kick that caught Leo’s ankle, sending his heavy frame crashing hard against the primary server console.

Leo barely had time to roll away before the clone aggressively cornered him against the shattered interface wall. The doppelgänger drove his weight forward, his plasma blade grinding violently against Leo's sword, forcefully pushing Leo's guard lower and lower until the hyper-heated violet plasma edge was hovering mere centimeters away from Leo's bare neck. The intense heat singed the collar of his vest.

"Face it, Leo," the clone whispered right into his face, trolling with a lethal, malicious smirk. "You're getting slow. Your stamina is draining, and your little system can't save you from yourself."

Leo's dark eyes narrowed into razor-sharp slits, his intellect ignoring the taunts to track a subtle, repetitive flaw in the clone's mirrored combat loop. The clone was mirroring his movements, but because it was an automated duplication, it was initiating its strikes a fraction of a microsecond after Leo's muscles twitched.

You're just a latency reaction, Leo realized with cold certainty.

Instead of fighting the physical pressure to push the sword away, Leo suddenly relaxed his muscles entirely, letting his body drop low beneath the clone's line of force. The sudden loss of resistance caused the clone's heavy blade to overshoot, burying itself deep into the metallic server console behind him.

This was his only opening. Moving with an unyielding, absolute physical power, Leo aggressively twisted his hips, bringing his plasma-charged energy blade around in a swift, devastating horizontal cleave straight across the doppelgänger's midsection.

SHRIIIIK!

The violet energy blade cut cleanly through the copied armor plating. But instead of drawing blood, the clone’s entire body violently glitched, bright blue digital static and fractured pixels erupting from the wound as his face twisted into a distorted, frozen mask of electronic shock.

A second later, his entire frame completely shattered into a cloud of silent violet data dust, vanishing entirely into the thin air.

The moment the clone vanished, a massive, deafening spatial resonance groaned through the entire facility. The pristine white walls, the fluorescent arrays, the computer consoles, and the massive vertical glass containment vats violently began to pixelate, fracturing into millions of digital code squares. In less than three seconds, the entire high-tech laboratory facility completely evaporated into the midnight air, leaving absolutely nothing behind.

Leo blinked rapidly, his senses adjusting as the artificial layout dissolved. The futuristic building was gone. He was standing right back out in the open, damp grass of a secluded clearing deep inside the pitch-black northern forest trails.

Lying flat on the cold ground directly in front of his boots were Cynthia and Chloe. Both of the elite women were entirely without clothes, their pale, smooth skin glistening faintly with the remnants of the green capsule liquid under the dim moonlight. Their long black and short pink hair strands scattered wildly across the grass. They were both locked in a deep, peaceful sleep, their chests rising and falling in slow, rhythmic breaths.

Leo let out a long, grounded breath, immediately stepping forward to kneel beside their limp forms. He gently reached his large hands out, tapping Cynthia's bare shoulder to shake her awake. "Cynthia... Chloe... open your eyes."

Step. Step.

The quiet, deliberate sound of soft footsteps breaking dry twigs violently cut through the forest silence from right behind his back.

Leo's body went instantly rigid. He spun his head around sharply, his dark grey eyes locking onto the shadow emerging from the thick tree line.

Stepping slowly out into the open moonlight, looking down at his kneeling frame with a cold, unyielding precision, was Stella. She was no longer wearing her goofy, flustered major act, nor did her face carry any trace of her innocent transfer student facade. Her striking emerald-green eyes were glowing with a vibrant, otherworldly light that seemed to pierce straight through the darkness, her expression completely serious, calculating, and authoritative as she stared dead into his eyes.

The heavy midnight wind howled through her long silver-white hair.
