My Wife Might Be a Saintess
Chapter 448 - 447: The Jiang Zuo Who Was Once Noticed
Chapter 448: Chapter 447: The Jiang Zuo Who Was Once Noticed
His one-word reply, "Who?", made things very awkward.
Even though the saleswoman was highly professional, she still felt that Jiang Zuo was being unreasonable.
However, she didn’t let it show. Instead, she smiled and said softly, "Xiuyan. Yang Xiuyan. We were classmates."
Jiang Zuo was exasperated. "..."
He then looked at Su Qi. "Classmate, I don’t recognize all of my old classmates. Do you know her?"
Hearing Jiang Zuo say that, Yang Xiuyan felt truly awkward.
’He doesn’t recognize all his classmates? Is he serious?’
In reality, Jiang Zuo really didn’t recognize all of them. From middle school on, his attention was entirely on Su Qi. He barely spared a glance for any other female classmate.
After he and Su Qi got together, he cared even less about other girls in his class.
Of course, he couldn’t have paid them any mind even if he’d wanted to. Su Qi was always watching.
Back then, Su Qi had violent tendencies and was very clingy.
So when it came to classmates, it was more likely that Su Qi would recognize them than he would.
But Su Qi also shook her head. "From middle school through University, I knew almost all the female students. But there was no one named Yang Xiuyan."
Then Jiang Zuo and Su Qi both turned to look at Yang Xiuyan at the same time.
Facing their stares, Yang Xiuyan didn’t know what to say.
Finally, she said with a bitter smile, "We were elementary school classmates."
Jiang Zuo: "..."
Su Qi: "..."
Su Qi looked at Jiang Zuo and said, "So you actually have elementary school classmates."
Jiang Zuo said with a deadpan expression, "Isn’t that perfectly normal? Don’t you have any? Oh, right. You probably really don’t."
It was true. Su Qi didn’t have any elementary school classmates.
Jiang Zuo remembered that Su Qi had only started attending regular school after she wasn’t chosen to be the Saintess.
Because of her age, she had enrolled directly in middle school, so she had no elementary school classmates.
But speaking of elementary school classmates, Jiang Zuo subconsciously cast his mind back. His elementary school years had been very ordinary; he’d gone through them just like everyone else.
As for the other girls in his class, he truly hadn’t paid them any attention.
’What did he know about that stuff as a kid?’
In the end, Jiang Zuo just shook his head. "I don’t remember."
Jiang Zuo wasn’t sure if this woman was actually in his memories or not, but he was too lazy to go digging for it.
Remembering her or not was completely meaningless to him.
Yang Xiuyan smiled. "That’s fair. Our class wasn’t very lively back then, so it makes sense that you wouldn’t know everyone."
Su Qi, however, asked curiously, "Then how did you recognize Jiang Zuo?"
Yang Xiuyan’s expression darkened. ’Can we please drop this?’
Finally, she said, "Because I was the class monitor back then."
Su Qi: "..."
’The class monitor? The monitor should be the one person everyone in class recognizes. Not knowing her is a bit much.’
Immediately, Su Qi turned to Jiang Zuo. "Mr. Jiang Zuo, you don’t even recognize your class monitor? Isn’t that a little harsh?"
Jiang Zuo was exasperated. ’How could I possibly recognize her? Countless years have passed. I’ve long forgotten everyone from elementary school. I even forgot Su Qi.’
’If he hadn’t returned to a point in time when Su Qi was around, he wouldn’t have recognized her either.’
’But because Su Qi was important, he would have made the effort to remember her.’
’This class monitor, on the other hand, wasn’t important to him at all, so he couldn’t be bothered to think back.’
’It’s not like anything bad would happen if he didn’t remember.’
Then Jiang Zuo looked at Su Qi and said, "So, are we buying a TV or not?"
Su Qi said with a grin, "We are."
’Women. On the surface, she said it was harsh, but deep down, she was probably hoping he’d forgotten every single other woman.’
Fortunately, Jiang Zuo was too lazy to try and remember. If he actually had remembered, Su Qi wouldn’t be smiling like this.
Yang Xiuyan, standing to the side, was mortified. She never would have opened her mouth if she’d known this would happen. She’d thought greeting an old classmate would help close a sale, but who knew she’d end up so embarrassed she could die.
Just then, Su Qi abandoned Jiang Zuo and came over to Yang Xiuyan’s side. "What was Jiang Zuo like when he was little? Do you have any pictures from back then?" she asked.
Yang Xiuyan sighed inwardly. "..."
Then she said calmly, "Uh, why don’t we look at some TVs first? We can talk while we browse."
"We’re buying," Su Qi said decisively. "No need to look. We’ll definitely buy one."
Yang Xiuyan was about to say something else, but Su Qi cut her off. "We’ll buy other things, too. We’ll buy it all. Now, can we have a proper chat?"
Yang Xiuyan was at a loss for words. This woman was certainly straightforward.
’What else could she say at this point?’
’Might as well talk.’
Jiang Zuo, standing in the background, was also completely speechless.
’Should I try to recall everything from elementary school?’ he wondered. ’But as far as I know, there shouldn’t be anything I need to hide.’
’Then again, he was too lazy to bother.’
Then, Yang Xiuyan asked Su Qi, "And you are?"
Su Qi said, "I’m Su Qi, Jiang Zuo’s wife. We’ve been together for ten years, though we only got married a few months ago. All we’re missing now is a baby."
Yang Xiuyan was impressed, but her admiration was for Jiang Zuo. He’d actually managed to marry such a beautiful woman.
’But is there something wrong with her intelligence?’
’Then again, any normal man who saw a woman this beautiful and with such a great figure would completely overlook her intelligence.’
’In fact, a slightly lower IQ might even be a plus.’
’The so-called ’ditzy-cute’ type?’
’Hmph. Men.’
Yang Xiuyan said, a little troubled, "I don’t think I have any photos. As for everything else... I’m not sure where to begin."
Su Qi thought for a moment and said, "Did he have a girlfriend in elementary school? Or was he close to any other girls? Did he know how to hit on them?"
Yang Xiuyan didn’t know what to say. ’You’ve been together for ten years. You guys are the ones who started dating early, okay?’
"Er, we didn’t really have a term for ’hitting on girls’ back then. Besides, our town was pretty remote, and everyone was more conservative. That kind of early dating didn’t happen.
"As for whether he was close with any of the girls..."
Yang Xiuyan thought for a moment. "I don’t think so. After all, nobody paid much attention to Jiang Zuo at first. It wasn’t until fifth or sixth grade that he started getting noticed."
"Huh?" Both Su Qi and Jiang Zuo were taken aback.
’He got noticed?’
Jiang Zuo had a bad feeling. Before Su Qi could ask, he quickly scanned through his memories again.
When Jiang Zuo finished scanning his memories, he found nothing out of the ordinary.
His fifth and sixth-grade years had been uneventful; practically nothing had happened. How could he have possibly gotten noticed?
’Oh, this class monitor actually was in his memory, she just looked different.’
Jiang Zuo finally understood. The saying that a girl goes through a thousand changes as she grows up was terrifyingly true.
’But Su Qi hadn’t changed that much as she grew up. It felt like she hadn’t changed at all.’
’Still just as cute, just as beautiful.’
Of course, it was impossible for Su Qi not to have changed. If someone else were to look, or if Jiang Zuo were given an old photo of her...
...he would realize that Su Qi used to be very flat-chested.
Unless he specifically thought about it, he tended to overlook that fact.
But that wasn’t important. After failing to find anything unusual about himself in his memories, he stopped worrying about it.
If this class monitor were to lie and try to sabotage his relationship with Su Qi, he wouldn’t care. Su Qi, however, would—and she would be the one to expose the lie.
Still, Su Qi was very curious about why Jiang Zuo had started getting noticed.
She spoke up, "He started getting noticed in the fifth or sixth grade? Why? Did he do something?"
Yang Xiuyan shook her head. "Jiang Zuo didn’t do anything back then, and he didn’t seem unusual in any way.
"To be honest, he was very ordinary before. No one in the class paid him any mind, and certainly none of the girls ever did."
Su Qi wasn’t sure if she should be happy about that or not. ’Her husband was so wonderful and outstanding, after all.’
But she was still very curious about what had happened.
